Chapter 366 Mr. Carnegie, Mrs. Carnegie Are Back
"Rejoin the game of the top elite families?" Paige smiled slightly, looking at Emory with interest.
Inviting her to rejoin this top-tier game suggested that the conflict between the Russell family and the Hamilton family was deeper than she had imagined.
Emory asked, "Don't you want to bring the Ellison family back to its former glory?"
Paige said coldly, "Do I need your permission to go back?"
Emory was taken aback, then suddenly smiled. "Interesting, you're as expected from someone of the Ellison family."
Paige said, "As expected? The Ellison family isn't impressive. As one of the former five great families, didn't they fall just the same? Compared to you, we are not even a fraction as ruthless and cruel! Since that's the case, why should I cooperate with you? The position the Ellison family once held, we can still reclaim it today!"
After saying this, Paige turned and left without a second glance, heading straight to her car.
Emory stood there, his eyes following Paige's figure until she got into her car and drove away.
Jenny's voice came from behind. "Stop looking, you can't even see the taillights anymore. I told you, showing up like this would definitely alert her. See, I was right, wasn't I?"
Emory said, "I suddenly thought of a better way to cooperate."
After saying this, Emory turned and walked towards the banquet hall.
Jenny followed, puzzled. "A better way to cooperate? Emory, are you sure we have to collaborate with the Ellison family?"
Emory retorted, "Do you want to hand this opportunity over to the Hamilton family?"
With Emory's question, even though Jenny didn't like the idea of this cooperation, she still felt that working with the Ellison family was better.
This way, they would have one less enemy.
Since the Carnegie family and the Douglas family were completely wiped out, and the Ellison family subsequently declined, leaving only the Russell family and the Hamilton family among the five great families, their development had been getting better and better.
However, their ambitions were also becoming more and more apparent.
The Hamilton family's ambition was now blatantly exposed.
They wanted to swallow the Russell family and become the sole ruler!
The Russell family wasn't foolish either; they naturally had to plan for their own future.
Jenny asked, "Emory, does Xanthe really have clues about the secret funds?"
Emory replied, "Since the news is out, even if it's fake, we can't let it go. In the current situation, whoever gets their hands on these secret funds will be the new ruler."
Jenny certainly understood the importance of the secret funds.
"She's already gone, where can we get any clues now?" Jenny asked.
Jenny felt that tonight was a waste of time, and she didn't like Xanthe's arrogant attitude either.
Even though the Ellison family had fallen, Xanthe was still so arrogant.
However, Emory didn't think so. "This banquet is clearly hosted by the Morgan family, but Xanthe acts like the host. Don't you think she's quite capable?"
Jenny frowned. "So what if she's capable? It's a pity she was born into the Ellison family. By the way, it seems like the Hamilton family is also making moves. Should we pay more attention to them recently?"
Emory said, "We'll split up. You keep an eye on the Hamilton family's movements. I'll deal with Xanthe."
Jenny was confused. "Deal with? How? Emory, Xanthe's beauty is truly unparalleled. You wouldn't be..."
Emory stopped and knocked on Jenny's forehead. "What nonsense are you talking about? Don't forget, I have a fiancée."
Jenny scoffed, "Fiancée? I think it's a very foolish marriage."
After saying this, Jenny walked even faster.
Now that Xanthe had left, her only remaining interest in this banquet was to see how much Dylan knew about the secret funds.
When Jenny re-entered, she happened to see Francesca coming out.
Seeing Jenny, Francesca instinctively took a step back, clearly trying to avoid her.
The men behind her immediately stepped forward, shielding her.
One young man said to Francesca, "Mrs. Carnegie, are you alright?"
Francesca stood still, peeking at Jenny through the gaps between the men. "The rose of the Russell family, why is she attending this banquet?"
As soon as Francesca finished speaking, Emory also walked in.
Francesca frowned slightly. "Go check on Xanthe immediately. See if she had any conflicts with Jenny and Emory. Also, send a team to protect Xanthe at all times."
The man beside her responded, "Yes."
Soon, the man returned to Francesca and reported. "Ms. Ellison has already left."
Francesca whispered, "That's good."
After saying this, she pushed aside the people in front of her.
Why should she hide? Why should she be the one to hide?
With her defenses rebuilt, Francesca walked out confidently.
Seeing Jenny and Emory heading straight for Dylan, Francesca followed.
Ignoring the thorns and roses, Francesca greeted Dylan directly. "Mr. Morgan, thank you for tonight's hospitality. I have some matters to attend to, so I'll be leaving now."
Dylan exchanged a few polite words with Francesca, and Lily quickly approached.
Dylan smiled, "Lily is here too. Perfect timing, let me introduce everyone."
Then, Dylan introduced Lily, Francesca, and the thorns and roses to each other.
Lily had met Francesca before, but they weren't familiar.
Dylan had accomplished what he needed to tonight.
After greeting Jenny and Emory, Lily focused on Francesca.
After all, Paige had warned her. And Francesca did meet several of Lily's criteria.
Lily spoke up first, "I remember Francesca just arrived. Why are you leaving so soon? Was the hospitality lacking? How about I accompany you?"
Francesca looked at Lily, smiling. If they could talk privately, she had some questions.
If all the conditions matched, she might just find out.
But Lily had already spoken, and Francesca smiled faintly. "Ms. Morgan, have you forgotten? You once tried to seduce Raymond! I have nothing to say to you. Goodbye!"
After saying this, Francesca didn't care about Lily's reaction and turned to leave.
Suddenly reminded of this incident, Lily felt somewhat embarrassed and looked towards Dylan.
But Dylan showed no intention of helping to keep Francesca, continuing to chat with Emory and Jenny, clearly eager to curry favor with them.
Lily felt helpless; she really wasn't in the mood to socialize.
Seeing Francesca leave, Lily could only turn and walk away, taking out her phone to send a message to Paige.
When Paige received the news that Francesca had left, her expression darkened.
Pearl asked, "Ms. Ellison, what's wrong?"
Paige said, "Francesca has already left. What was her purpose for coming to the banquet tonight? Leaving without doing anything is not her style."
Paige couldn't figure it out.
Pearl replied, "Ms. Ellison, when you went to see Mr. Carnegie earlier, I followed Francesca to the restroom. I heard her crying there for a while. I guess she might have come here to see you."
Paige immediately shook her head. "I don't know why she was crying, but she didn't necessarily come here to see me. When she first came in and saw me, she was very surprised. Clearly, she didn't know I would be at this banquet. It seems my presence disrupted her original plan. So, what was her original plan?"
Paige pondered, wondering if it was related to the secret funds. Did Francesca retreat because she was afraid Paige would discover her secret?
Pearl said, "I feel she might have some unavoidable reasons. Even though you both know each other's identities, she still refuses to acknowledge you."
Pearl's mention of this made Paige immediately say. "Don't talk to me about that. I have nothing to do with her!"
Switched at birth, she and Francesca might share a mother-daughter bloodline, but there were no mother-daughter feelings between them.
Pearl dared not say more. Paige probably harbored more hatred towards Francesca.
Pearl nodded, "Yes, but since the news about the clues was released tonight, does this mean we've failed?"
Paige's voice was calm. "Even the Russell family's thorns and roses showed up. How can this be considered a failure? This round went very well!"
Just as Paige finished speaking, a call from Raymond came through.
Seeing Raymond's name on the screen, Paige's expression softened a bit.
Pearl breathed a slight sigh of relief. No matter what, tonight had been quite fruitful.
Paige and Raymond reconciling meant she would suffer less.
Paige answered the call, listening quietly to Raymond.
Then she replied, "Okay, I'm coming over now."
After hanging up, Paige instructed the driver to change the route.
Pearl's eyes lit up. "Ms. Ellison, are we going to the Carnegie Estate?"
Paige nodded, "Yes, once we get there, you need to prepare yourself. I might stay there."
Pearl was surprised. "Ms. Ellison, you're going to stay at the Carnegie Estate?"
Pearl started to get nervous.
Paige had no intention of acknowledging the Carnegie family, let alone recognizing Francesca as her mother.
And at the Carnegie Estate, Francesca could move back anytime, meaning they might see each other often.
Moreover, as far as Pearl knew, Mr. Bradley Carnegie had also moved to Arcadia and was currently living with Raymond.
In this situation, was it appropriate for Paige to stay there?
Seeing Pearl's worried expression, Paige knew what she was concerned about.
Looking at Pearl, Paige found her quite endearing.
So, Paige beckoned Pearl over.
Pearl hesitated for a couple of seconds before leaning in.
Paige whispered a few words in Pearl's ear, causing Pearl's eyes to widen in shock. "Really?"
Pearl was stunned by Paige's words, but also a bit delighted.
Paige nodded, "Yes, we can be together openly now. Our child will have a legitimate identity."
Pearl was so excited that she almost cried. "That's wonderful."
Paige also smiled a bit.
Raymond had returned to the Carnegie Estate ahead of them, looking quite excited.
"Bradley! Bradley!" Raymond called out as he entered. Though the house was old, its soundproofing was excellent.
Bradley, in his room, couldn't hear him.
However, the servants quickly went to knock on Bradley's door.
When Bradley came out, Raymond was running up the stairs. "Bradley, guess who I brought back?"
Hearing this, Bradley immediately perked up.
Bradley quickly walked towards Raymond, eagerly asking. "Did you bring Paige back?"
Saying this, Bradley bypassed Raymond, looking behind him.
Not seeing Paige behind Raymond, Bradley headed downstairs.
Raymond didn't stop him, just followed. "Bradley, don't worry. She's just a step behind but will be here soon."
Bradley was overjoyed. "Did you tell her everything?"
Raymond nodded, "Yes, I finally got the chance to explain everything to her."
Bradley was excited. "That's great."
Bradley was so excited that he teared up. "I can hardly remember the last time I saw her. It's good that she agreed to come back!"
After a few emotional words, Bradley immediately started giving orders. "Sean, get everything ready. Paige is coming back."
Sean gathered a group of servants, giving out instructions, then approached Bradley, hesitant to ask his question.
Bradley was confused. "What are you hesitating for? Just say it."
Sean replied, "Mr. Carnegie, with Paige coming back, what will her status be in the family?"
Bradley looked at Raymond, realizing that some things were not yet ready to be revealed.
So Bradley said, "Her status doesn't matter. What's important is that our family is safe and sound!"
As Bradley finished speaking, Charles came running in. "Mr. Carnegie, Mrs. Carnegie is back!"
