Chapter 388 Gotcha
Lily heard Paige's voice in her ear. "Open it and place it in front of the brooch."
Lily didn't dare to disobey Paige's order. She immediately opened the bag and was about to take something out when the man suddenly reached out and pressed down on her hand. "Are you crazy? This is a public place, with cameras everywhere. If the contents of the bag are caught on camera, can you handle the consequences? How unprofessional!"
Lily was professional, but Paige was anxious for clues.
Fortunately, Paige could hear this exchange as well.
The man's voice was low and hoarse, possibly intentionally so.
But Paige said, "Listen to him."
Just as Lily was about to stop her next move, the man suddenly pulled off her mask.
Lily was shocked. "What are you doing?"
The man frowned. "How is it you?"
Lily reached out to remove his mask, but he was very agile, quickly stepping back and getting ready to leave.
Seeing the situation getting out of control, Lily immediately made the 'support' gesture she had agreed upon with Paige.
The man seemed to sense something was wrong and snatched the bag from Lily's hand. "Deal's off!"
Lily tried to grab the man, but he was clearly very quick and left the scene without even taking the money from the bag.
Raymond's team quickly surrounded the area, but the man was highly alert, avoiding anyone who seemed even slightly suspicious.
Lily stood there, quickly apologizing. "I'm sorry, Ms. Ellison. I did my best. The other party is very cautious. What should we do? He said the deal is off and took the clues back."
Paige knew she had been too impatient.
She just wanted to see the clues as soon as possible, which was why she had asked Lily to take them out.
She hadn't expected the man to be so cautious.
Paige said, "Take the money and leave. You can't help with the rest. Someone will come to pick you up."
With that, Paige cut off the communication with Lily.
Paige immediately called Raymond.
Raymond answered Paige's call right away, offering comfort. "Don't worry, I'm here. I'll stop him."
Paige said, "I was too impatient. I'll go test him myself now!"
Raymond replied, "Be careful."
They exchanged a few more words and kept the call open as they each began to act.
Paige got out of the car and headed directly to the basement with her bodyguards.
Several exits of the basement were already guarded.
Paige was going to intercept this benefactor herself.
She wanted to see who it was that had recognized Lily when he removed her mask.
Paige, carrying a handgun, entered the basement.
After leaving Lily, the man continued to avoid people, showing his strong counter-surveillance skills.
Raymond was quite capable, but even with his command and dozens of men, they couldn't stop the man.
Paige listened to Raymond's commands over the phone.
Despite Raymond's team's tracking and predictions, they couldn't catch him.
Time was running out, and the mall was so big. Once the man left the mall, it would be hard to catch him.
Paige said, "This person has undergone rigorous military training. His counter-surveillance and escape skills are strong. Julian, take half the people from the basement and follow me."
Julian replied, "Ms. Ellison, the basement is the last checkpoint. If we can't stop him there..."
Paige interrupted him. "Julian, have you forgotten your training? The other party has had similar training. If he can evade Raymond's men, do you think we can catch him by waiting in the parking garage?"
Julian realized the situation was different from what he initially thought.
He immediately followed Paige's instructions, taking his subordinates with him.
Paige listened to Raymond's commands while checking the mall's map on her phone.
The map on her phone adjusted as Paige moved, and in her mind, she tracked the man's escape route.
Raymond's timely tracking gave Paige more time to think.
When Paige heard that Raymond's team had chased the man to the second floor of the mall, she looked at the map on her phone, thought for a few seconds, and suddenly started running.
Julian and his team followed closely, not daring to fall behind.
Paige ran to a window. Normally, she would have crashed through it to save time.
But being pregnant, Paige grabbed a nearby fire extinguisher and smashed the glass, then jumped out the window.
Julian, seeing this from a distance, was terrified. He rushed over and saw that there was a platform outside the window.
As Julian caught up, something seemed to fall from the third floor.
Paige, looking up, drew her handgun.
It wasn't 'something' that had fallen from the third floor, but a person who had jumped from a window.
The man had chosen the same method as Paige.
His athletic ability was extraordinary, and his landing was very professional, clearly trained.
But no matter how skilled he was, as he landed, Paige's gun was already pointed at his head.
Julian was surprised by Paige's intelligence and precise timing.
The man, like a fish being chased by Raymond, was cornered and caught by Paige.
Paige commanded, "Put your hands behind your back, or I'll shoot!"
The man slowly raised his hands and put them behind his back.
Paige signaled Julian, who immediately restrained the man.
Paige handed the gun to Julian and slowly walked in front of the man.
His hands were restrained, but his hat, sunglasses, and mask were still on.
Paige stared at him, slowly reaching out. "You recognized Lily, so let's see if I recognize you!"
