Chapter 241 I'm Willing

Margaret was swamped in the morning and didn't think much of it. But after lunch, when Paige still hadn't shown up, Margaret's mind started to wander. She had handled some tasks, but her attention were all on waiting for Paige now, making her anxious again.

She'd been following the doctor's orders and was doing pretty well today. But after a couple of hours of stressing out, her blood pressure started to climb.

Caleb had been working from the hospital room these past few days. If something happened to Margaret and no one was around, it could spell trouble for the Trump family.

If Margaret and Paige patched things up, the Trump family would score big time, gaining the backing of both the Universe Group and the Carnegie family, which would be huge for their growth in Northwind.

That alone was enough for Caleb, the Trump family heir, to put his busy schedule on hold and stay at the hospital to look after Margaret.

Seeing Margaret's blood pressure spike again, Caleb quickly tried to calm her down. "Aunt Margaret, take it easy. Paige said she'd come, right? Don't stress yourself out. If your blood pressure keeps going up, you won't be able to have a good talk with her when she gets here."

Margaret thought about it and realized he was right. She mumbled to herself, "Yeah, I need to chill. I can't let Paige see me like this and freak her out."

She started taking deep breaths, trying to calm down and stop worrying so much. She kept telling herself that Paige would definitely come. Paige was someone who kept her promises.

Just as Margaret was trying to reassure herself, there was a knock on the door. Someone opened it, and in walked Paige.

Margaret had managed to calm down a bit, and her blood pressure had dropped slightly. But the moment she saw Paige, it shot up again.

Caleb quickly greeted Paige, fully aware of her new, impressive status. He didn't know how Paige had gone from being in prison to running the Universe Group as Xanthe, but since she was related to Margaret, she was family. If Paige acknowledged her roots, the Trump family would benefit big time. Thinking of this, Caleb was extra nice to Paige.

Paige didn't sit down. Instead, she said, "I don't want too many people hearing our conversation. Can you ask some people to leave?"

Margaret's hospital room was pretty crowded. Several Trump family members were there, along with bodyguards. Knowing the upcoming talk wouldn't be pleasant, Paige didn't want a big audience.

Margaret was satisfied just to see Paige. She naturally had no objections to anything Paige said. So, she told everyone, "Everyone except Caleb, please leave. Paige isn't used to having so many people around."

Hearing this, Paige couldn't help but frown. After being called an illegitimate daughter by Margaret for so many years, hearing her speak so affectionately now gave Paige the creeps. But Paige didn't want to waste time on that right now.

Soon, everyone else left the room, leaving just Caleb. Paige glanced at the monitors. Besides the high blood pressure, Margaret seemed fine. Paige figured Margaret's blood pressure might spike again after their talk.

Paige had only agreed to talk. She had no plans to return to the Sackler family or have any future dealings with them. With everyone gone, Margaret couldn't wait any longer.

"Paige," Margaret started, "I've found a way to recover the forty million dollars Xena took overseas. Once the money comes back, I'll repay Raymond immediately.''

''Don't worry, I'll keep my word and make it up to you. I know I was wrong all these years. I was deceived, which is why I treated you the way I did. I don't expect you to forgive me right away, but can you give me a chance to slowly make it up to you?''

She added, ''We've missed so much time. Whether it's you or your mother, I owe you both. I've been a terrible person, but I'm willing to spend the rest of my life making amends."

Paige didn't interrupt. Seeing her standing there calmly, Margaret wiped away her tears and continued, "This morning, I started working on several major projects, either finding strong partners or selling them. By then, the previous deficits and Raymond's money can be covered.''

''From now on, I'll cover every expense for your mother. After her surgery and recovery, I'm willing to bring her home and personally take care of her. Once I repay Raymond, I'll transfer the remaining projects to you. All my shares will be given to you, including all the assets of the Sackler Group and the Sackler family.''

''By the way, you like that century-old furniture manufacturing company of the Sackler family, don't you? I've already talked to the lawyer about giving you that company first. It's been passed down through generations in the Sackler family and should belong to you. In the future..."

At this point, Paige couldn't take it anymore. She finally interrupted Margaret, "Hold on a minute." Margaret stopped, not daring to say another word.

Paige frowned. "Does giving me these things count as compensation? Is taking on all my mother's expenses from now on considered compensation?"

Margaret was taken aback, her heart filled with unease. She wondered if Paige was unhappy with the compensation. So she quickly asked, "Paige, whatever kind of compensation you want, just say it. Even if you want my life in return, I'm willing."
