Chapter 163 How Could She Possibly Wake Up?
It was probably 'cause Paige brought up Xena again that Luna's emotions went haywire.
Paige just couldn't wrap her head around Luna's feelings. Did she really wanna see Xena that bad, to the point of getting all worked up?
Paige tried to calm Luna down. "We'll do whatever you want. Chill out; you just had treatment, and it went pretty well."
Wouldn't it be a waste to not take care of herself after such a good treatment?
Paige stuck around with Luna. After the treatment, Luna was awake for way longer. Paige stayed with her the whole time and didn't bounce back to work.
Luna's extreme lack of security would surely get better over time, and so would her health.
Now, Paige needed to carve out some time to take care of Luna.
After comforting Luna and making sure she ate, Paige headed back to her room once Luna crashed.
But she needed to seriously think about letting Luna see Xena.
After all, Luna seemed super eager to see Xena.
Paige couldn't stop her. No matter how much she disliked Xena, Xena was still Luna's daughter. If Luna wanted to see Xena and Paige kept blocking it, it might mess with Luna's condition.
After a lot of thinking, Paige unblocked Xena's number and called. To her surprise, it was busy—Xena had blocked her, too.
Paige couldn't help but laugh. Did she think Paige was dying to call her? If it weren't for Luna getting so emotional every time Xena's name came up, Paige would prefer they never meet again.
Paige laughed awkwardly. Since her call couldn't get through, she had to use another phone.
Luckily, Paige had another phone. Sure enough, when she called from the other phone, the call went through.
It wasn't long before the call was answered, and Xena's voice came through.
"Who is it?"
"Paige."
Xena suddenly laughed. "What's the emergency? You even used a different number to call. Are you getting divorced and can't survive? So you're looking to the Sackler family for help?"
Xena was in an exceptionally good mood today, just 'cause she heard Paige was divorcing Raymond.
Once they divorced, Paige would have no hope left. Starting over would be tough.
In Xena's eyes, Paige was incredibly foolish. With Raymond's status, she was at the top of the food chain in this city and any other woman would cling tightly to Raymond.
But Paige, like an idiot, wanted a divorce. Once divorced, what would she be?
She was just an ordinary person. Divorce would only mean going back to her original life. But a smart person would seize this chance to climb higher. Who would be so dumb to give up such an opportunity and choose divorce instead?
Paige frowned, listening to Xena's trash talk on the other end. She felt Xena was truly a lost cause.
"You always bring up my divorce. Is that all you got? Seriously, I don't even give a crap about the Sacklers. I called you to tell you something."
Xena shot back, "What is it? Can't afford food after the divorce and want me to bail you out?"
Besides sarcasm, it seemed she had nothing else to offer.
Paige couldn't be bothered with her and cut to the chase, "Mom woke up. She wants to see you. When can you come over? I'm asking nicely now, but you'd better get here soon. If you don't, don't blame me for what happens next. Don't make me come get you."
Paige laid it out straight, thinking Xena would remember the last time she got a taste of her wrath.
But as soon as Paige finished, there was sudden silence on the other end.
Just as Paige was about to hang up, Xena suddenly asked, "What did you say? I didn't hear you clearly. Say it again?"
Xena did actually hear clearly; she just couldn't believe what Paige said. After all, Luna had been in a vegetative state for five years. How could she suddenly wake up?
Paige answered, "Are your ears failing at such a young age? I said Mom has woken up. She wants to see you. Don't keep her waiting too long. Got it?"
This time, Paige hung up immediately after speaking. Why was Xena so shocked that Luna had woken up?
Although Luna's five-year coma was closely related to Xena, she should know that Luna wasn't truly a vegetative patient. As long as the antidote was found, it was always possible for her to wake up.
Did this news truly warrant such a reaction?
Paige hung up and prepared to rest, but the news shocked Xena.
She stared at her phone in a daze for a while before reacting.
Then Xena immediately went to find Margaret.
"Grandma, something terrible has happened."
Margaret was just about to hit the sack when she saw Xena rushing over in a panic.
"What happened to make you so flustered? Didn't I tell you to stay calm no matter how big the problem was?"
If it were anything else, Xena might have stayed calm, but this she couldn't.
"Grandma, it's really bad. Just now, Paige called and said my mom woke up."
As soon as Xena said this, Margaret lost her cool.
"What did you say?"
Margaret's tone was skeptical. "You said Luna woke up? How could she wake up? She's been in a coma for five years. Didn't they say that even with the antidote, she might not wake up?"
