Chapter 391 That Special Year
The disfigured man had his mouth sealed, and at this moment, he couldn't utter a single word.
But upon hearing Paige's speculation, Raymond immediately went to retrieve the files, causing the disfigured man to resist strongly.
The disfigured man was anxious but could only make some sounds, unable to say anything.
Paige didn't plan to continue talking to him in the car.
They had captured the person and obtained the clue. Now, Paige just wanted to know if there was anything inside The Ellison Villa where she lived!
Previously, Wesley had given her the clues about the Ellison family.
However, in the clues Paige had already obtained, there was nothing like what the man had just taken out.
Moreover, Wesley had never mentioned this clue to her.
The car drove all the way back to The Ellison Villa, and it was Raymond's first time there.
After the car entered the villa, Paige had Julian personally detain and guard the man to prevent another escape.
This man's abilities were extraordinary; he had jumped directly from the third floor and landed smoothly without a scratch, indicating professional training.
With such a person, Paige naturally couldn't be careless.
Last time, a relatively unskilled Andrew had cunningly escaped right under their noses. This time, with this capture, Paige wanted Julian to have people take turns watching him. No mistakes were allowed, as this was related to the secret fund clues.
They split up, with Julian watching the man and Paige taking the blueprint to search for the secret fund clues in the villa with Raymond.
Following the clue map, they went from the villa to an underground wine cellar.
The entrance to the wine cellar was located in an abandoned storage room at the end of the garden.
Paige had the butler, Austin Hayes, bring the key to unlock the door, only to find that the lock was already rusted, with the keyhole blocked.
Austin said, "Sorry, Ms. Ellison, this can't be opened. How about waiting a bit while I get someone to remove the lock?"
Raymond didn't have the time or patience to wait. "No need, just arrange for someone to fix the door later."
With that, Raymond lifted his foot and kicked the door open.
Austin wasn't very familiar with Raymond and looked to Paige for instructions when he saw him kick the door.
Paige said, "Have someone come to repair the door after I come out."
Austin replied, "Yes."
Paige asked, "By the way, did you know there's a wine cellar under this storage room?"
Austin said, "Yes, but the wine cellar has been abandoned for many years. Mr. Ellison had already established a new wine cellar when he was young, and most of the wine was moved, leaving only some unwanted bottles."
Paige said, "Alright, I understand. Maybe a few bottles were left behind; I'll go down and check."
The wine cellar had been abandoned since Wesley was young, and no one had been there since. Could there really be something inside?
However, before sending Paige out of prison, Wesley had already given her all the secret fund map fragments the Ellison family had.
Now, someone said there was a clue here, which Paige found incredible.
After Austin left, Pearl had people guard the area from a distance, trying not to attract attention or let anyone approach.
After entering the storage room, Paige and Raymond found a thick layer of dust and clutter inside.
Raymond immediately had Charles bring subordinates to clean up the room.
Without cleaning, even a few steps inside would stir up unbearable dust.
Paige asked, "By the way, I've always been curious but forgot to ask, why is Northwind's Carnegie Manor under the name of a woman with the last name 'White'?"
When Paige found out it was Carnegie Manor, she thought it belonged to Bradley's wife. However, she later learned that wasn't her grandmother's name.
Raymond explained with a smile. "White is my mother's maiden name."
Paige asked, "That house is under your mother's name? Isn't that too obvious, not afraid of being discovered?"
Raymond said, "No one outside the family knows her maiden name because she wasn't from a wealthy family, just an ordinary person. My father's family didn't approve of him marrying an ordinary woman, so he used some means to change her name and introduced her to influential adoptive parents. By the way, my mother's parents passed away when she was a teenager. Northwind's house was bought by my father as a gift for her."
Paige nodded. "I see."
As Paige finished speaking, Charles came over and said, "Mr. Carnegie, Mrs. Carnegie, the room has been cleaned, and the basement entrance is clear."
Charles always handled things well without Raymond having to worry.
He would do everything perfectly.
The two entered the storage room, which had been mostly cleaned, so there was no dust with every step.
The basement entrance was opened, and Paige and Raymond went down together.
Although abandoned, the lighting was still intact.
Paige walked around the basement wine cellar and found some wine still stored there.
However, there was a thick layer of dust on them.
Despite the dirt, Paige took out a bottle, blew off the dust, and was pleasantly surprised. "My God, how could this be abandoned?"
Hearing Paige's exclamation, Raymond walked over, took a look, and was also surprised. "Wine from 1975?"
Paige took out a tissue to wipe the label and looked closely. "Yes, it's homemade."
Saying this, Paige took out two more bottles from beside the first one and wiped the labels, finding they were the same wine.
Paige looked up at Raymond, "They're all homemade. Was 1975 a special year?"
Raymond said, "That year wasn't the best. It seems 1975 was special for Mr. Ellison, so he preserved these wines. Why they were forgotten here is unknown."
Raymond pointed to a mark on the wine rack.
Paige went over and saw that the mark clearly recorded that this was Wesley's wine, along with the origin of the grapes and the production method.
Paige was confused. "If these wines were so important, why weren't they properly stored?"
Raymond shook his head, "No, this is the best way to preserve them. Before we came in, this place was sealed. The light, humidity, and temperature here are perfect. It seems he didn't neglect these wines but intentionally stored them this way."
Paige was stunned. "So, there really might be a clue map here? But he wouldn't have kept it from me."
Raymond shrugged. "Maybe it's another story. We're not the people involved, so we can't know."
With that, they continued to look at the map and search the wine cellar for the location.
