Chapter 275 You Are Very Smart

Lily had already been through the wringer here. After Paige stabbed Oliver, he only got the bare minimum of first aid. At first, it just hurt, but without proper meds or cleaning, the wound got worse by the day.

Oliver tried to tough it out, but eventually, the pain was too much. When he took off the bandage, he saw the wound was infected.

Then, Oliver started running a fever. Lily knew that if he didn't get treated soon, he could lose his leg—or worse, his life.

Lily looked at Oliver, then closed her eyes in defeat and said to Paige, "Fine. I'll be your bait if you save him."

Paige's smile widened. This was exactly what she wanted. She pulled a small medical kit from her bag, opened it, and took out some meds and a syringe.

Paige expertly filled the syringe and injected Oliver. After cleaning up, she stood and faced Lily.

"Don't worry about him anymore. His leg will be fine. But Miss Morgan, you'll have to agree to some unfair terms since we're gonna work together."

Lily asked, "What terms? I already said I'd do what you want."

Paige smirked, "Words are cheap. Even if I leave Oliver here and let you go, I can't trust you since you two betrayed your boss. But it's too late to back out now. I added a new poison to the meds I gave him just now. He'll need an antidote every week until you bring your boss to me. Only then will I give you the final antidote. Otherwise, this will go on forever."

Lily's face twisted with emotion. She wanted to curse Paige out, but she couldn't. Paige noticed Oliver's reaction too, but what did it matter?

Lily said, "Xanthe, you're a devil. We're unlucky to be in your hands."

Paige just laughed, "Thanks for the compliment. At least it shows my threat works."

As she spoke, Paige pulled out another vial from her kit, distinct from the red one she had injected him with earlier.

Paige shook the vial, saying, "I'm not forcing you. If you don't want it, I won't inject it."

Lily knew that if she refused, Oliver's leg wouldn't heal, and the poison would kill him. She had no choice.

"I thought Raymond was the toughest, but the woman beside him is even more ruthless. In all my years, I've never met anyone like you."

Paige gave Raymond a faint smile. She'd smiled a few times in front of Lily, but those smiles never reached her eyes. They were all about confidence. Paige didn't say a word, just waited for Lily to beg.

Lily realized that, so she gritted her teeth and said, "I accept your terms."

She rolled up her sleeve, exposing her upper arm, and waited for Paige.

Paige prepped the syringe and walked to the edge of the cage without hesitation.

Standing outside the cage, Paige watched as Lily extended her arm through the bars. Paige injected the medication, and Lily just stared as Paige slowly pushed the meds into her. It was like accepting her fate. In the end, Lily stopped resisting.

After the injection, Paige pulled out the needle and put it away. "Alright, Oliver will be transferred to a hospital for treatment next. And you'll be on a plane back to Arcadia. How you complete the task is up to you. I just need results."

Paige's message was clear. She didn't care how Lily did it, as long as she got what she wanted.

Lily immediately asked, "What about the weekly antidote? How do I get it?"

Paige smirked, "When the time comes, someone will deliver it to you. Don't even think about delaying. You have three months, tops. If you don't complete the task and get the final antidote within three months, I can't guarantee the stability of this new injection. If anything goes wrong and causes irreversible damage, don't blame me."

Lily's face fell.

"Three months? You want me to find the boss in three months?"

"Isn't three months enough? Lily, I don't have that much patience. Three months is my limit, and it's also the limit of the medication's stability. Got it?"

In other words, there was no room for negotiation. Lily felt completely under Paige's control. Paige could do whatever she wanted, leaving Lily no chance to argue.

After packing, Paige turned to leave and found Raymond waiting for her.

Paige walked over and took Raymond's arm, whispering, "Let's go home."

Paige had grown to depend on Raymond. She was used to having him by her side.

They walked out hand in hand, and Lily called after them, "When can I leave? Can I take him to the hospital?"

Paige didn't answer and walked out with Raymond. Outside, Raymond chuckled softly.

Paige looked at him, "Do you think I'm ruthless?"

Raymond cupped Paige's face, his smile fading, and said gently, "No, you did the right thing."
