Chapter 286 Her Life Cannot Be Spared

Paige immediately asked, "Why are you so flustered?"

Francesca turned her head. "Did you find Xena?"

Paige frowned, "Francesca, does finding Xena make you this nervous and scared? What exactly did you say or do with my mom that Xena overheard?"

Francesca wasn't someone who wore her emotions on her sleeve.

But at this moment, her nervousness and panic were so evident that she couldn't hide them, all showing on her face at once.

Paige saw it clearly, which made her even more suspicious.

Francesca immediately shook her head, "No, Xena must have been talking nonsense to you, right, Paige? She was just trying to sow discord. She wanted to marry Louis back then but never got her wish. She hates me, hates everyone in the Carnegie family. So, she must have said those things on purpose to stir things up. Don't fall for her tricks."

Francesca hadn't been eating or sleeping well lately, most worried that even though she had been very secretive, there was still a chance something could go wrong.

And now, what Paige was saying was exactly the kind of situation Fracesca feared.

The surveillance was destroyed, the medical staff and security were all drugged, and she didn't even dare to leave her confidants at the door, fearing they might overhear something.

She thought she had everything under control, but so many things happened that she couldn't manage.

If Francesca had remained calm, composed, and elegant as usual while talking to Paige, Paige would have believed her without a second thought.

But now, Francesca was visibly nervous, her expression evasive, clearly hiding something.

Paige was genuinely puzzled by Francesca's expressions

Francesca even had to seek solace in the church, praying for inner peace. At this point, Paige couldn't believe that Francesca had done nothing wrong.

Paige left, knowing Francesca wouldn't tell her the truth.

Even in front of God, Francesca wouldn't be honest with her.

But it didn't matter; there would be other opportunities. When they met Xena, she would find out more.

At this moment, Paige didn't want to push Francesca any further; she seemed really out of sorts.

Paige walked a few steps ahead, then stopped and turned back to ask Francesca, "It's my first time here, I don't know where your room is."

Francesca sighed in relief, walked up to Paige, and said, "Follow me."

Paige and Francesca walked to the room together.

The room was very clean. Compared to the Carnegie family's mansion, it naturally lacked that luxurious and opulent atmosphere, but it was suitable for temporary stay and meditation.

As long as they didn't talk about that topic, Francesca could still face Paige in a normal emotional state, even more warmly than before.

She led Paige to her room, then hurriedly went to find things for Paige.

Her room had a bathroom, which was very convenient.

Francesca took out brand new toiletries from her luggage, "Paige, use these. They're all new."

Saying this, she looked at Paige again, who seemed to have come unprepared.

So Francesca immediately turned back to her belongings to find more things.

She saw a set of pajamas with the tags still on and immediately took them out for Paige, "Paige, these clothes are new too. Since you didn't bring anything, wear these."

Francesca tried to find new items for Paige, including toiletries, clothes, and other things.

Paige was almost overwhelmed by Francesca's enthusiasm.

Even before, Francesca had never been this warm to her. After all, Francesca always saw Raymond as Louis's biggest enemy, fearing he would take over Hawke Corporation. Because of this, Francesca's attitude towards Paige had always been lukewarm.

She even disliked Paige because of Louis's affection for her.

Paige pondered, 'Could it be that Francesca felt guilty, so she suddenly became so warm to me? Wasn't she still planning to kill Luna? If so, she should dislike me even more. Her sudden kindness felt like the beginning of some scheme.'

Holding the things Francesca handed her, Paige watched Francesca still busy looking for more items, and suddenly asked, "Francesca, I remember we didn't have such a good relationship, right? Why are you suddenly so good to me? Do you feel a bit guilty for Luna?"

Francesca stood there, holding the items, stunned.

She didn't even dare to turn around and face Paige.

She tried to control her emotions and slowly turned around after a while. "We are family, Paige. Family can be happy together, right?"

Paige looked at Francesca with a face full of confusion.

Francesca was talking so strangely.

Unable to respond to Francesca's words, Paige simply took the toiletries and went to the bathroom.

Francesca stood there, still holding the body lotion and hair oil she had prepared for Paige.

Francesca thought she might have been too hasty, exposing her emotions too much.

But now she couldn't control her emotions at all, with too many things weighing on her mind, including Luna's life.

Standing outside, hearing the sound of water, Francesca softly said, "Paige, do you know what it means to have an inescapable fate? Do you know how hard it is for those trapped by fate?"

Then Francesca turned away, gently wiping away a tear about to fall from her eye.

She couldn't let herself cry; being too soft wasn't in her nature.

After wiping away the tears, Francesca quickly calmed herself down.

She hadn't forgotten what Paige had just said.

She said she had found Xena!

Francesca didn't know what Xena had told Paige, nor did she know if Xena had overheard anything that night.

Francesca only knew that at this point, Xena's life couldn't be spared!
