Chapter 219 Missing
Elijah kept his mouth shut after hearing Xena's serious tone. He'd seen firsthand how brutal Paige could get when she was hitting someone. If Paige decided to go after Xena again, it could get ugly real fast. So, Elijah had no choice but to do what Xena asked and take her home.
As soon as Xena got back to the Sackler Villa, she started packing some clothes. Then, when no one was looking, she slipped into the study. When she came out, her bag was stuffed with who-knows-what. She hurried Elijah to leave.
Seeing Xena so freaked out, Elijah figured she was scared of Paige. He floored it, trying to get her to safety as fast as he could.
Xena booked a pretty basic hotel. When they walked in, Elijah couldn't help but wrinkle his nose at the place. "Xena, even if we're hiding from Paige, we don't have to stay in a dump like this. This place is awful compared to our family's hotels." Elijah's family owned some pretty swanky hotels, way nicer than this one.
Xena dropped her luggage and put her bag in the room's safe. She looked around, clearly grossed out, but she knew this was the safest place for now. "You don't get it. If we stay at your place, they'll find us in no time. You should head back now. And remember, don't tell anyone where I am, especially our friends. Just say you haven't seen me."
Elijah nodded. "Don't worry, I won't say a word. If you need anything, just call me." He was worried about Xena staying in such a crappy place, but she had bigger things on her mind. She needed to gather as much money as she could and get out of town.
After Elijah left, Xena started going over the Sackler Group's finances, getting ready for her next move.
Meanwhile, Margaret finished up at work and headed straight to the hospital. When she got there, she found out Xena was missing. The bodyguards had no clue where Xena went. They didn't want to make a scene, so they searched quietly, but they couldn't find her.
Margaret was getting anxious when she remembered something. Paige and Luna were also at this hospital. The only person who could distract the bodyguards and take Xena away was Paige.
Unable to reach Paige by phone, Margaret headed straight to Luna's room. As she passed by Louis's room, she stopped and asked a nurse what was going on. She found out Louis was going to donate a kidney. Margaret was stunned."Louis is a match for Luna? And he's willing to donate a kidney to her? He's the head of Hawke Corporation!" Margaret muttered to herself, feeling like the world had turned upside down.
But as shocking as that was, Margaret's main concern was finding Xena. She stormed into Luna's room, ready to get some answers.
Paige was there, and Margaret wasted no time grilling her. "Paige, where did you take Xena? You know it's illegal to detain someone without permission in Northwind, right? Do you want to go back to jail for another five years? We let it slide when you hit her yesterday. Her injuries aren't even healed, and now she's missing. Where is she?"
Paige stood up slowly, eyeing the frantic Margaret. From her rant, Paige picked up on the key detail: Xena was missing. Paige chuckled, "Mrs. Sackler, are you sure Xena is with me?"
Margaret felt a chill but pressed on, "I just want to know where Xena is."
Paige replied, "Mrs. Sackler, you're asking me? I have no idea where Xena went, but you better find her fast. Hurry up."
Seeing Paige's reaction, Margaret started to believe Xena wasn't with her. She was furious and a bit intimidated by Paige, so she turned and left. As soon as Margaret was gone, Paige called Julian in. "Find out where Xena went. Once you locate her, don't alert anyone. I want to know what she's up to!"
Paige already had a pretty good idea. This was her chance to get back at the Sackler family. Julian nodded. "Leave it to me; I'll handle it."
After Julian left, Raymond asked, "What's the Sackler family up to now?"
Paige said softly, "With everything out in the open, the game's on. Things are about to get interesting."
Paige had a hunch about why Xena ran from the hospital. Sure, part of it was because of her. Staying in the same hospital as Paige was risky for Xena. But that wasn't the main issue.
The big problem was that Paige had discovered Xena's real blood type didn't match the one on her medical records. That was a game-changer for Xena.
Julian's team eventually tracked down the hotel where Elijah had taken Xena. They thought they'd find her there, but she wasn't in the hotel. They kept watch, but even by the next day, Xena was still a no-show.
Back at the hospital, Paige was busy. She spent the evening with Louis for several tests. When Luna woke up, she took her for tests too.
Raymond didn't do much all day, just stuck by Paige's side. Mainly because Louis was also in the hospital, and he needed to keep an eye on him to feel at ease.
After sending Luna for her tests, Paige waited outside. Louis and Raymond stood on either side of her, chatting. Louis asked, "Tomorrow morning, I'll finish my remaining tests. When can the surgery be scheduled?"
Paige glanced at the testing area; she had already talked to the doctor today. If everything went smoothly, the surgery could be done in two days. "If there are no complications, the surgery can be done in two days. Let's hope everything goes well."
After all they'd been through, they were finally nearing the end, and Paige didn't want any more surprises. In the past two days, Luna's condition hadn't worsened, and Paige was confident the surgery would go smoothly.
