Chapter 245 I'm Just a Mother

Paige had already checked out the surveillance footage on Amelia's phone. Louis was decked out in a black baseball cap, mask, and sunglasses, sitting in a wheelchair.

But she could tell his head was drooping, like he was out cold. And some guy in black was wheeling him out of the ward. The next clip showed Louis being taken out of the hospital and loaded into a car by the same guy.

No wonder Amelia was freaking out, saying Louis got kidnapped. It totally looked like a kidnapping. After watching, Paige handed the phone back to Amelia. "You stay here and look after my mom. I'll keep you posted."

Amelia, looking all worried, said, "Ms. Ellison, where are you going? I want to come with you." But before Amelia could finish, Paige was already out the door.

The surgery was set for tomorrow. Without Louis, it was a no-go. Everything was ready. If Louis had just bailed last minute, Paige might not have been so freaked out and pissed. But it was clear he was taken without a fight. Only one person came to mind—someone who always opposed Louis donating his kidney.

As Paige hurried out of the hospital, she noticed a missed call on her phone. It was Francesca. This just confirmed Paige's hunch. Now she knew where to find Louis.

Paige jumped into her car and sped off to Francesca's place. She drove into Dreamland Manor. It wasn't her first time there, so she knew the way and got there fast. Her license plate was already on record, so the gate opened automatically. After parking, Paige headed straight to the door.

Nicholas Wells, the butler, opened the door. "Mrs. Paige Carnegie, what brings you here?"

Paige, looking anxious, said, "I need to see Francesca. Where is she?"

Nicholas replied, "Mrs. Francesca Carnegie isn't here. She didn't say when she'd be back. She might be at Carnegie Manor. Why don't you call her?"

Paige had already tried calling from her car but couldn't get through. Thinking fast, she said, "Let me use your phone."

Nicholas looked puzzled. Paige, more forceful now, said, "I said, let me use your phone." Maybe Francesca was dodging her calls. No matter how many times she tried, it wouldn't help.

Nicholas reluctantly handed over his phone, and Paige called Francesca. The call connected but was hung up immediately. Paige, in disbelief, called again.

She thought, 'It's one thing for Francesca not to answer my calls, but how could she not answer Nicholas's calls either? What if something really important is happening?'

But it was clear Francesca wasn't going to answer. The next call was hung up right away, and then the phone was turned off. Paige had no choice but to hand the phone back to Nicholas and ask, "Has Louis come back?"

Nicholas looked puzzled. "Isn't Mr. Louis Carnegie still in the hospital? Mrs. Paige Carnegie, is something wrong?"

Paige didn't have the patience to explain. She needed to find Francesca. It was clear Francesca had taken Louis, trying to stop him from donating his kidney to Luna. Paige jumped back in her car and sped off to Carnegie Manor.

Meanwhile, Francesca, who had been sitting in her car at the hospital, saw Paige drive away. She got out, put on her sunglasses, and walked into the hospital.

Trailing behind her were over a hundred men dressed like regular folks. So, even though a bunch of people entered the hospital at once, it didn't raise any eyebrows.

Francesca took the elevator up and headed to Luna's ward. She stopped but was immediately blocked by bodyguards. Francesca took off her sunglasses. "I'm Xanthe's sister-in-law. I need to see her."

The bodyguards didn't move. They only took orders from Paige, Raymond, Pearl, Julian, and Amelia. Anyone else needed permission to enter the ward.

Francesca said, "Isn't Ms. Smith inside? Let her know I'm here."

The bodyguards trusted Amelia, who was also one of the hospital's owners, so they called her out.

When Amelia saw Francesca, she knew Paige wouldn't be back for a while. She didn't dare bring Francesca inside, so she closed the ward door behind her to talk to Francesca outside.

Amelia greeted her politely, "Mrs. Carnegie."

Francesca stayed calm. "Ms. Smith, is Paige here? I need to talk to her."

Amelia shook her head. "Unfortunately, Ms. Ellison isn't here. Louis..." Amelia mentioned Louis and watched Francesca's face.

Francesca, without missing a beat, interrupted, "How is Louis? Since Paige isn't here, could you take me to his ward? I want to see him. I can't stand it, knowing he's about to have surgery!"

Amelia couldn't read any emotion on Francesca's face. Maybe Francesca was just that good at hiding her feelings, or maybe her beauty masked her true emotions.

Seeing that Francesca seemed unaware of Louis's absence, Amelia decided to play along. The two wards were close, just a few steps away, so she led Francesca to Louis's ward.

Once inside, Amelia glanced around, ready to make an excuse that Louis might have stepped out. But when she turned to speak, Francesca gave her a sly smile.

Francesca raised her hand slightly, and several casually dressed men immediately stepped forward, subduing Amelia and taping her mouth shut.

Amelia struggled frantically, but Francesca exuded a decisive and commanding presence, like a completely different person. Her demeanor became lofty and untouchable, reflecting her confidence.

Francesca put a finger to her lips. "Ms. Smith, I won't hurt you. I'm just a mother protecting her child from harm. Louis can't be harmed, got it? Stay quiet here for a while!"

After speaking, Francesca left a few men to watch over Amelia in Louis's ward and then headed towards Luna's ward.
