Chapter 258 There's Always Tommorrow

Paige just ignored Francesca. Francesca knew sticking around would only make things worse for Paige. She'd said all she needed to say. Hanging out any longer would just be awkward. Paige's glare was intense, like she wanted to end Francesca right there.

After saying goodbye to Raymond, Francesca left. Louis wanted to stay, but Paige's look made him think twice. "Paige, I'm really sorry. You've got a lot to deal with. Take care of yourself," Louis said.

Paige shot him a look. "Why'd you bring her here?"

Louis tried to calm her down. "Paige, I'm sorry. But we needed to clear some things up. My mom didn't mean any harm. She didn't poison Ms. Parker. She just didn't want me to donate my kidney. Her actions were harsh, but she wouldn't kill anyone."

Paige just stared at him, listening to him repeat that Francesca wasn't a killer. "After my mom's funeral, I'll get to the bottom of this. I won't accuse anyone wrongly, but I won't let anyone off the hook either."

Paige was set on revenge. If Francesca and Louis were so sure she didn't do it, Paige would find out. If Francesca was guilty, she'd face the consequences. If not, Paige would find the real culprit.

Louis had nothing left to say. Paige was determined to find the truth. He nodded and left. This place wasn't exactly friendly to him and Francesca. Louis walked out to find Francesca's car waiting.

Margaret, who had some business with Francesca, saw her come out without Paige and hurried over. When Louis got closer, Margaret approached too. "Mrs. Carnegie, can we talk?"

Francesca noticed Margaret looked older. She'd heard about Margaret and Xena's issues, and it seemed to have taken a toll on her. "Mrs. Sackler, what brings you here?" Francesca noticed Margaret's car parked nearby.

Given the family drama, Francesca figured Margaret wanted to go inside, but Paige wouldn't have it. So when Margaret saw Francesca, she made a beeline for her.

Margaret replied, "It's a long story. How's it going in there? Is Paige okay?"

Louis saw Margaret and gave a slight nod. He didn't want to stick around, so he got in the car. Francesca shook her head. "She's really upset. Luna's gone, so it's understandable."

Margaret still didn't know how Luna had died. She hoped Francesca might have some answers. After all, Francesca was part of the Carnegie family. Paige didn't acknowledge the Sackler family but got along with the Carnegies. "I'm worried seeing me would just make things worse for her, so I haven't gone in. Mrs. Carnegie, do you know how Luna died?"

Francesca was taken aback. She'd heard Margaret was at the hospital too but didn't realize she was in the dark. "You don't know?"

Margaret shook her head. "I heard she was being resuscitated last night. I watched from a distance but couldn't hear anything. This morning, they took Luna to the funeral home. The hospital's keeping everything under wraps, and we can't find out what happened. Today was supposed to be her surgery. If it had gone well, Luna might've had a chance. What went wrong?"

Francesca looked around. "It's not a good place to talk. Let's go somewhere else."

Margaret nodded quickly. "Let's go to my car."

Francesca agreed and got in the car with Margaret. Maybe talking to her would help piece things together. Plus, Margaret might remember something useful since she was at the hospital too.

In the car, Francesca explained Luna's situation and how she became a suspect. Margaret was shocked. "She was poisoned? Mrs. Carnegie, did you really not do anything to Luna?"

Francesca sighed. "Mrs. Sackler, don't you trust me? I just wanted to protect my son. I was worried losing a kidney would affect his future. With my status, why would I need to become a murderer? Besides, Paige is part of the Carnegie family. Doing something like that wouldn't benefit me or Louis."

Margaret nodded. They were family, and now that Raymond was back, many at Hawke Corporation wanted him to replace Louis. Louis had held his position without any mistakes. If Francesca had really killed someone, she'd be giving her enemies ammunition. Margaret didn't think Francesca was that foolish. "I thought I'd have many chances to make amends. Who made it so I could never repay my debts?"

"Finding the real culprit is the top priority now." Francesca was determined to clear her name.

"Mrs. Carnegie, why did you destroy the surveillance footage? How can we find the culprit without it?"

Francesca said, "Who could've predicted this? Do you have any info from the hospital?"

Margaret sighed. "Honestly, I avoid places where Paige is. Otherwise, it would be awkward, and she'd think I'm doing it on purpose. I didn't dare go near Luna's ward. The Trump family and the Sackler family members were also strictly forbidden from going there. I didn't want to upset Paige, so I stayed away. Ms. Southern just came out and warned me not to go in. I'm afraid I'll never be able to make it up to her."

Francesca gently patted Margaret's shoulder. "Don't be sad. There's always tomorrow."
