Chapter 332 Give This Child a Chance to Live
Paige held the box, standing there in a daze, just staring at it without saying a word.
"Paige, Paige, what's wrong with you?" Margaret called out twice before Paige snapped out of it.
Paige came to her senses and looked at Margaret. Despite knowing the truth was cruel, she still said to Margaret once more, "I'm really not your granddaughter, and I'm not Mom's biological daughter either."
Margaret was confused. "What are you talking about? You've said twice tonight. I can understand you not admitting you're a child of the Sackler family. It's my fault, and if you don't recognize me, I'll accept that for the rest of my life."
Margaret continued, "But why are you suddenly saying you're not your mother's daughter? Paige, although I've done bad things in the past, your mother's love for you has never changed. How can she rest in peace if you say that?"
Paige took a deep breath and confessed the truth, telling everything to Margaret.
She even mentioned that she was Francesca's biological daughter.
Margaret trembled uncontrollably after hearing this.
Her lips quivered, and she stammered, "Paige, is what you're saying... all true?"
Paige nodded, "It's true. In my over twenty years of life, I never thought there would be so many twists and turns. There are so many unbearable things. I've decided to leave Northwind. Before I go, I wanted to tell you the truth. This is the last thing I can do for Mom. After I leave, I hope you and Louis can mourn her."
Margaret reached out and grabbed Paige's hand, "Paige, how could this be? Your father personally brought you out of the delivery room and handed you to me. How could he lie to me? Such a big thing, how could..."
Paige shook her head, "I don't know why he did it, but now the truth is right in front of us. If you want to reunite with your grandson, go find Louis. I have some things I want to figure out. Can I take some of the hair from this box?"
Paige had already told Margaret that she wasn't her biological granddaughter, and tonight, she didn't plan to stay any longer.
Whether or not there was a blood relationship between her and Margaret, there was ultimately no familial bond.
Family was a very subtle feeling.
Just like between her and Luna, now she knew there was no blood relationship, but they still cared about each other. That was a kind of family bond. Even without blood ties, they could still be family.
But between her and Margaret, there was no such thing.
Margaret nodded, and Paige took some hair from the box. Then she packed the box and handed it to Margaret.
After Margaret took it, Paige stood up, ready to leave.
She had just taken two steps when Margaret suddenly grabbed her, "It's so late, where are you going? Such a big thing happened, and when you came, you were squatting at the door. It's the middle of the night, what if something happens to you?"
Margaret was also in tears after hearing such a big thing.
The emotional impact on her was not much less than what Paige endured, but she still grabbed Paige immediately.
In the middle of the night, a girl who couldn't go home, feeling low and in poor mental state, what if something happened to her?
Paige looked back at Margaret's hand holding her. She wanted to push it away, but Margaret immediately put down the box and grabbed her with the other hand too. "I've wronged you a lot in the past. Even if you're a child of the Carnegie family, and Louis is my child. But the Carnegie family raised Louis so well, made him so outstanding, while I let you suffer so much. I've thought it through these days, what I did was really wrong."
Margaret continued, "Paige, even if you're not my biological granddaughter, don't leave tonight. Stay for the night. You won't go to the Carnegie family, you won't go back to your own home, and you didn't bring anyone close to you. Where else can you go?"
Paige's throat tightened. At this moment, it wasn't about the past grievances between her and Margaret, but just an ordinary person's concern for her tonight, giving her cold body a temporary place to rest.
She was very tired, very exhausted, and really wanted to stop and rest.
Paige looked at Margaret, unable to speak for a long time.
Margaret could understand her feelings at this moment. Although the Carnegie family was her blood, her relationship with Raymond had become awkward.
She had a home, but couldn't go back.
Margaret patted her hand, "Stay. I know you're capable and will definitely find a way to solve the problem. But today you're not in a good state, I can see that. Stay and rest, and also plan where you want to go."
Paige didn't say anything, tacitly agreeing to stay.
She really had no energy left. Margaret wipe her tears and instruct the servants to prepare toiletries and pajamas for her.
Margaret had prepared new ones for her before, which came in handy now.
Although Paige lay in bed at night, she couldn't sleep. Her mind was filled with memories of Raymond, flashing continuously.
Not only could Paige not sleep, but Margaret also tossed and turned. She wanted to go find Louis immediately and ask him, but seeing how devastated Paige was, she thought Louis would have an even harder time accepting the truth. She tried her best to control her emotions and take things slowly.
Paige temporarily settled down at the Sackler Villa.
Meanwhile, outside, Raymond, Francesca, and others were almost going crazy looking for Paige.
Paige's trail had been completely erased. Before lying down, she even had her private jet take off for another country.
With all the interference and Raymond's immense power, he couldn't determine whether Paige was still in the country or already on a plane heading abroad.
Pearl and her team were searching for Paige separately from Raymond and the others.
So, Cecil quickly got the clues Paige left for him.
After getting the clues, Cecil immediately informed Pearl.
Seeing Paige's arrangements, Pearl first breathed a sigh of relief. At least this way, she could be sure Paige was safe.
Pearl gathered the team together. Naturally, she wouldn't share these clues with Raymond.
No matter what decision Paige made, they would absolutely stand by her. They were only responsible to Paige, and even if it was Raymond, Pearl wouldn't hesitate.
Pearl looked at the few people in front of her, "I've already arranged everything that happened today. Not a word will leak out. Ms. Ellison is currently safe, and Northwind is stable. Next, Ms. Ellison plans to return to headquarters to reorganize business. Everyone, pack up. After we meet Ms. Ellison tomorrow, we'll leave."
Cecil asked, "So we're just leaving, abandoning everything at Northwind?"
Julian said, "I'm only responsible for her personal safety. I'll take people to protect her immediately."
Pearl hurriedly said, "Don't move. She's very safe right now. If you move, you'll immediately expose her location."
Julian said, "Isn't Cecil here? He can help cover her tracks, right?"
Cecil said, "I need a few hours of rest. After that, I need to leave Northwind with Ms. Ellison. We can't let the Carnegie family find out, or we won't be able to leave."
Pearl nodded, supporting Cecil. She spread her hands to Julian, showing she couldn't help. She knew Julian wanted to be by Paige's side immediately to protect her.
Kimberly, however, was seriously considering the situation, "Actually, given the speed at which we handle work here, we could have left Northwind a long time ago. But seeing Ms. Ellison dealing with personal matters, we didn't want to disturb her. Perhaps I should have been more diligent and suggested this to her earlier."
Pearl glanced at Kimberly, "Ms. Ellison chose Northwind as her first stop to handle these matters. Since we've all tacitly approved of her actions, we should follow her arrangements."
Kimberly nodded, "It looks like I'll be working overtime tonight. Pearl, help me pack my personal items. I'll go lead the team."
Pearl responded, "Go ahead, don't worry about things here."
Kimberly busied herself with pre-departure arrangements.
Pearl looked at Julian and Cecil, "Don't worry, I'll arrange everything for you. Get some rest if you need it, set your alarms, and don't make me wake you up."
Paige ultimately didn't sleep all night. At dawn, she called for a plane, left a note for Margaret, and left.
She sent a message to Cecil, and Pearl led the team to meet Paige at the airstrip.
When they saw Paige safe and sound, the four of them immediately approached her.
In unison, they said, "Ms. Ellison."
Paige looked at the group standing in front of her and nodded, "Let's go."
She didn't mention Northwind, Raymond, or the Carnegie family at all.
Paige's mental state wasn't great, but she seemed to have an indescribable aura about her.
Pearl quickly followed, not daring to ask or say much.
She didn't dare mention the child in Paige's belly either.
She only reported to Paige that everything had been arranged for their arrival in Arcadia, and all her needs had been prepared.
Listening to this, Paige turned back to look at Northwind as she boarded the plane.
Let her start a new life with a new identity in a new place.
She reached out and touched her belly. Perhaps this way, she could give this child a chance at life.
