Meanwhile, Paige couldn't make it to the hospital to see Luna because she was pressed for time. Amelia had already called to say she'd take care of Luna, so Paige headed to the Universe Group without any worries.
This was Paige's first time showing up at the Universe Group as Xanthe, the new CEO. She walked in with confidence and took her seat at the head of the table like she belonged there.
The meeting went off without a hitch. Paige quickly figured out why Pearl wanted her there. People could be so greedy.
At the Arcadia branch of the Universe Group, Andrew had always wanted to make the branch independent. Lately, he'd even been talking to the Quorinthus branch about teaming up. But with Paige in the room, Andrew didn't stand a chance.
Paige's presence was basically her way of announcing who she was. The Universe Group was also working on a public statement, but that would come a bit later.
Still, word spread fast among the upper crust. Everyone was stunned. Yesterday's wedding made it clear that Hawke Corporation and the Universe Group were now partners.
After the meeting, Raymond's flashy car was already parked outside the Universe Group building. Raymond got out, leaning casually against the car with one foot on the door.
Paige walked out after the meeting. Seeing Raymond, she smiled a little. She turned to her team and said, "That's it for today." Everyone nodded respectfully.
Paige stood in front of Raymond, giving him a once-over. "Did you do this on purpose?"
At noon, Raymond had been wearing something different. Now, he was in another custom-made suit that fit him perfectly, looking incredibly handsome.
Raymond said, "I used to be in a wheelchair and couldn't do much, but now that I can stand, I won't let you down. I don't want people saying it's a shame you married a disabled man. I want to give you the best support. How's that for quick action?"
Paige looked down to hide her smile. It was too obvious. She said, "Mr. Carnegie, you really make me proud. But for safety's sake, we should get in the car before we start causing a traffic jam."
Around them, besides the Universe Group employees, there were more and more passersby. People were snapping photos like crazy, whether it was of the car or Raymond himself. Now that Paige had walked over, the crowd was even more eager to get shots of them together.
Raymond followed Paige's gaze and looked around. The crowd was getting bigger and could start causing traffic issues.
Raymond, looking sharp today, and Paige, who had dressed up for her first official meeting at the Universe Group, made quite the pair. Her outfit was pure class, her makeup on point, and the jewelry she wore just added to her overall vibe.
Raymond grinned and said, "Let them be jealous. We look so good together today that even if we become the talk of the town tomorrow, it won't be embarrassing."
Raymond's words hinted that he was ready to go public with their marriage. Paige felt the same way. They'd been married for a while now, no need to hide it.
Yesterday's events were kept under wraps, so there was nothing to worry about. Raymond's words left Paige with nothing to argue about. It felt like everything was falling into place perfectly. Even if the photos hit the internet, they'd look like a stunning couple.
Paige accepted Raymond's reasoning and smiled. "Yeah, it won't be embarrassing."
Raymond responded with a loving smile, leaned in to give Paige a gentle kiss on the forehead, then turned to open the car door, helping Paige in first like a true gentleman. After Paige got in, Raymond followed.
Even after the car had left, the passersby were still buzzing with excitement. The Universe Group employees watched them leave and said, "Ms. Ellison and Mr. Carnegie are really together?"
The surrounding passersby said, "Did you get the shot? That kiss was so sweet."
"What a perfect couple. The guy is so handsome, driving a limited edition custom Rolls-Royce. The girl is so beautiful, moving with such grace."
"I can't believe I ran into such a perfect couple just walking around!"
In the car, Raymond was still holding Paige's hand and said, "With so many people taking pictures, someone will definitely upload them online. Darling, we should get ready to make an announcement." Raymond lifted Paige's hand to his lips and gave it a gentle kiss.
Paige took a deep breath. "The Universe Group is really busy. Not only do we have to announce my new position immediately, but we also have to address my marital status. And being secretly married for so long, the partner is none other than Mr. Raymond Carnegie of Hawke Corporation.
