Chapter 236 Is Louis Really That Special?

As the conversation reached this point, the entire living room fell silent. Paige got it, but she just couldn't keep the conversation going.

Louis wasn't around. Sure, Raymond was Paige's husband, but he was also Louis's uncle. If he sided too much with Paige, Francesca's anger would only grow.

Finally, Ethan broke the awkward silence. "Francesca, everyone's here today. Call Louis back, and let's have a family dinner together."

Louis had decided to donate a kidney. He wasn't a kid anymore; no one could force him to give it up. Since he agreed, nothing anyone said would change that.

Ethan knew what Francesca was up to, hanging around Carnegie Manor for days. He got it but kept quiet. On one side was Louis, on the other was Luna. He couldn't pick a side.

Ethan also couldn't bear to let Louis lose a kidney. But Paige wasn't a stranger; Ethan couldn't say anything. Since Francesca brought it up, Ethan figured Louis should be there.

Francesca had planned to convince Ethan herself, but after days of no response, she was stuck. Francesca didn't want to call Louis over, but Ethan's tone left no room for debate. It was an order. She had no choice but to call Louis.

After making the call, Francesca dove right back into the topic before Louis arrived. "Paige, if you're willing, I can help you find the best doctors for your mom. I heard you've registered worldwide to find a suitable kidney for her. If possible, can you wait a bit longer?"

Francesca was dead set against Louis donating his kidney. Paige struggled to answer. She had her own reasons.

After a while, seeing Francesca staring at her, Paige finally said, "Francesca, my mom can't wait. I don't know when we'll find a suitable kidney. If we can't find one, or if we miss the best time for surgery, it'll be a lifelong regret."

After speaking, Paige went quiet again. Francesca sat there, her tea cold, but she didn't take another sip.

Despite this, Francesca shared her true feelings. "If Louis had a child, I might not be so anxious. He can donate as he wishes. His father passed away early, leaving him as my only child. If I don't have a grandchild in the future, I feel guilty to his late father."

After speaking, Francesca sighed. Just then, Louis rushed in from outside.

When Louis heard Paige and Raymond were back, he knew what was up. It had to be about his kidney donation to Luna, so he rushed home, even canceling a meeting.

He must've caught Francesca's words as he walked in because he immediately said, "Mom, you don't need to worry. I've already frozen my sperm, so I can have kids anytime."

Francesca shot him a look. "What did you say? I want you to get married and have kids the normal way, got it? If something goes wrong with the surgery, it'll mess up your happiness for the rest of your life."

Francesca might have a point, but Louis wasn't having it. "Mom, the surgery's already scheduled, and all the tests are done. If you really care about me, just focus on the surgery and take care of me if needed, okay?"

Louis had plenty of people to look after him, but a mom's care was different. More than anything, he wanted her support.

Feeling stuck, Francesca turned to Ethan. "Dad, do you really want to see Louis donate his kidney? Sure, people can live with one, but losing one affects his future quality of life and health."

Ethan got dragged into the conversation. Feeling just as stuck, he said, "Francesca, Louis has already agreed. Let him make his own choice."

Francesca didn't expect Ethan to side against her. They were family, after all. And Paige's mom was an outsider. Having Louis donate a kidney at such a young age to someone who might not live long seemed unfair.

Francesca tried hard to keep her emotions in check, afraid she might let something slip. She felt like she was burning up inside. Plus, she was worried about one thing.

After all, there weren't that many coincidences in this world. Paige had tried to find many people to match a kidney for Luna, but none worked. Francesca thought, 'How does Louis match so quickly? Is he really that special?'

Francesca was super unhappy. But with Ethan's stance, she didn't push it further. One was grown-up Louis, who might not listen to her. The other was Ethan, whose family status was rock-solid. Francesca couldn't sway either of them. Now, she had to figure out another way.

The family gathered for dinner, but it was far from harmonious. After dinner, Paige and Raymond left quickly.

Paige was genuinely scared of facing Francesca because she understood her feelings. She didn't want to stick around and make Francesca feel worse.

Once they got in the car, Paige let out a sigh of relief, and Raymond said, "Louis won't change his mind, so don't worry."

Paige replied, "Even if he doesn't change his mind, I still don't know what to say to Francesca. Forget it, let's go home." Just as Paige finished speaking, her other phone rang.
