Chapter 184 Anyone Who Stand in My Way Must Die

If Paige let Luna keep snoozing, Xena outside might lose her patience. Whether Xena would go for the matching test now was totally up to her mood.

Luna groggily opened her eyes and saw Paige. She could now say Paige's name, so she weakly murmured, "Paige."

Paige gave a small smile and sat next to her. "Mom, how are you feeling today? Any discomfort?"

Luna wasn't in great shape and didn't have much energy. Lying there, she gently shook her head to show she was okay.

Paige hesitated but finally said, "Mom, Xena really wants to see you."

As soon as Paige said that, Luna's whole vibe changed. Paige quickly added, "She wants to see you because she's your daughter too. Mom, let's not worry about what she's done. We need her help with your condition. If she matches, you'll have a better chance. Please, try to hang in there. See Xena; she'll only take the test after seeing you."

Paige knew Luna's speech was still messed up, but she could understand what Paige was saying.

After hearing this, Luna calmed down. She tried to speak but couldn't. She just raised her hand with difficulty and gently stroked Paige's hair.

Paige held Luna's hand and pressed it against her cheek. "Just see her; she's waiting in the living room."

If Luna refused to see Xena, Xena definitely wouldn't go for the test. Right now, as long as the test could be done, Paige didn't care about anything else.

Finally, Luna stopped resisting so much. Paige let out a small sigh of relief. She said a lot of comforting things to Luna until Luna gently nodded, then she got up and left.

Xena and Margaret were waiting. Paige walked up and said, "I've talked to Mom. If you want to see her, go in now. Don't say anything too upsetting; her condition is really bad."

Even though Xena kept saying she wanted to see Luna, Paige didn't really get why. But there was no other choice. They might not be able to buy a kidney on the DarkNet Exchange, and their best hope now was Xena. Paige had to agree to her request.

Xena stood up, shot Paige a glare, and walked into the ward.

Paige was still a bit worried, but she figured that since they were mother and daughter, no matter what issues they had, Xena wouldn't dare to harm Luna now.

Xena entered the ward and closed the door. She stared at Luna, who was propped up against the bed. This time, Luna didn't start yelling when she saw her.

Xena seemed pretty pleased with that. She walked closer, her eyes locked on Luna. "Five years passed. I thought when Paige took you away, you were done for. Didn't expect Paige to be so resourceful, marrying Raymond and all. She even got the antidote and woke you up. How does it feel? Waking up and not wanting to see me?"

Xena's voice was low, with a hint of menace.

Luna, leaning against the bed, barely had the strength to move. She just trembled slightly, pressing herself against the pillow.

As Xena got closer, Luna had no strength and nowhere to go.

Xena continued, "Honestly, I never thought you'd wake up. When we made that drug, we didn't bother with an antidote. I had no idea some people secretly made one to make money and blackmail us for years.''

''As long as I had you under control, I wasn't worried. But I never expected Paige to take you away. Didn't think she'd have the guts."

Xena took step after step towards the bed and finally sat down on the edge. She completely ignored Luna's terrified and panicked expression.

Xena reached out and gently touched Luna's face, saying, "Mom, you've been out for five years. You're tough!"

Luna was so scared by Xena's actions that she stiffened up. Xena stroked her face, and Luna didn't have the strength to fight back.

Xena said, "These past five years have been the best of my life. If you hadn't woken up, things would have stayed that way. But you just had to wake up. Even then, it wouldn't have been a problem since you're useless. But then you got acute kidney failure, and Paige targeted me. It's odd that Paige, your own daughter, didn't match for a transplant. Why is that? It's like the universe is against me."

"I had no choice; you forced me to do this. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have harmed you. It's a shame our mother-daughter relationship is about to end."

After saying this, Xena pulled something out of her bag. It was what Elijah had secretly handed to her when she entered the hospital.

Luna looked at Xena in fear, shaking her head continuously. She tried to shout, but her emotions were too intense, and she couldn't even get a word out.

Xena took something out of the small bag and reached out towards Luna. She grabbed Luna's chin with one hand and held a small white pill with the other, trying to force it into Luna's mouth.

Xena lowered her voice and said viciously, "Anyone who stand in my way must die!"
