Chapter 218 Do You Want to See Her Beat Me Up Again?
If Paige hadn't personally drawn Xena's blood for analysis, she might have believed the medical records. She wondered if the Sackler family had completely altered the medical records to confuse the Carnegie family.
Paige handed the computer to Pearl and said, "Amelia, make the arrangements. Since we are so destined to meet and I happen to have some time now, I'll go see Xena."
Ten minutes later, Paige arrived at Xena's hospital room. Margaret was not there, and the bodyguards had been led away.
Xena had been sleeping soundly but was suddenly awakened by the sound of the heels, as if waking from a nightmare, discovering Paige standing there.
At that moment, Xena was almost scared out of bed. She sat up abruptly and stared at Paige. "What are you doing here?" Xena was on full alert, her body curling up in fear of Paige.
Paige walked closer step by step, bending slightly to scare her on purpose. "Just checking if you're still alive. If you die, who will I hit next?" As Paige spoke, the corners of her mouth lifted slightly, causing Xena to tremble violently.
"What do you want? Isn't it enough that you beat me like this?"
Paige stood up straight and slowly shook her head. "Of course, it's not enough! Xena, do you know how much blood is in an 8-year-old child's body? Do you know what it feels like to be bled to the brink of death?"
Xena knew exactly what Paige was talking about. She had witnessed Paige's madness the night before.
Xena was terrified, but Paige wasn't done. "You don't know, do you? But I do experience it personally. The blood in a person's body is about eight percent of their body weight. And the sensation of being bled to the brink of death is extremely painful. Xena, do you want to experience it?"
These words broke through Xena's defenses. Xena grabbed the pillow behind her and threw it at Paige in a frenzy.
Suddenly, Paige asked, "Xena, why has your type A blood never appeared in your medical records?"
Paige's question left the frenzied Xena dumbfounded. She looked at Paige with an incredulous expression. "You investigated me? How did you get my medical records? It's my personal privacy!"
Paige smiled faintly. "Privacy? Can you clarify why your medical records differ so much from reality??"
Xena pointed at Paige. "I'll sue you for invading my privacy. Paige, I will definitely sue you. Get out of my room." Xena seemed to have lost her mind, screaming at Paige.
Paige left a parting shot. "Don't worry, I'll get to the bottom of this. Because I found that your birth records are too similar to mine!" With that, Paige turned and left.
She didn't plan to stay in Xena's room for another minute. Once outside, Paige lost in thought at the door, 'Does Margaret know about Xena's secrets?'
As Paige left the room, Xena jumped out of bed. She never thought that Paige would check her medical records. The key was that Paige had personally drawn her blood for analysis the night before.
Although Paige had beaten her, Xena hadn't dared to sleep since waking up in the hospital last night. A single misstep move led to complete failure. Despite her reluctance to believe it, she had lost completely. She needed to make careful plans for the future.
As Xena was thinking about her next steps, her phone suddenly rang. The ringtone startled Xena. Realizing it was Elijah calling, she picked up the phone, believing he must have been released by Paige. He was also caught yesterday.
When the call connected, the first thing she heard was Elijah's relieved sigh."I was so worried. Seeing Paige hit you last night, I thought you wouldn't even be able to answer the phone today."
Xena said, "I'm fine, I can still get out of bed. What about you? Did they hit you too?"
Elijah replied, "I'm okay. Mr. Raymond Carnegie's men interrogated me about the online stuff. I'm sorry for confessing everything. But I took all the blame. Don't ever slip up."
Xena finally received some good news, but compared to her current predicament, the online stuff was nothing. "Elijah, I want to be discharged. Can you help me get out? I don't like hospitals and don't want to stay here. With Paige and her mom in this hospital, Paige just came to threaten me. I can't stay here any longer. Otherwise, who knows what might happen."
Sure enough, when Elijah heard that Xena was in that hospital, he raised his voice. "What? How did you end up in that hospital? Do you know that hospital is funded by the Smith family? Recently, the Smith family has been close to Paige, and Amelia is practically becoming Paige's assistant."
Elijah had already known this when he came to deliver medicine to Xena last time. Elijah said, "Wait, I'll head to the hospital and handle the transfer procedures. It's easy to find another hospital."
However, Xena refused Elijah's suggestion. "I can't stay in any hospital. Come pick me up. The doctor said it's all external injuries. I need to get out."
Xena was determined not to stay in the hospital. She wasn't sure how much time she had left and had to seize this opportunity to make the most of it.
Elijah didn't think much about it. Hearing that Xena wanted to leave, he agreed to pick her up. Xena also asked him to buy her a set of inconspicuous clothes on the way. Tidying herself up a bit, Xena called home to check if Margaret was there.
After changing into the clothes Elijah brought in disguise, Xena sneaked out of the hospital. Once in the car, Xena wanted to take off her hat, but she pulled the brim down further seeing her reflection in the mirror.
Elijah looked at her with some pity. "Paige was too harsh. After all, you're her sister. What if these scars remain?"
Xena couldn't care less about her appearance now. She only said, "Take me home quickly. I need to go home first. I need to pack some things and hide. Remember, don't tell anyone I left, not even my grandmother. I can't let Paige find me."
Elijah was stunned. "Isn't that a bit extreme? You're so badly injured; we should call the police and make her pay."
Xena said, "Do as what I said. Do you want to see her beat me up again?"
