Chapter 251 The Final Journey

Raymond held Paige up, gently wiping the tears from her puffy eyes. He nodded. "I'm here for you, no matter what. Whatever you decide, I've got your back."

Raymond's words meant the world to Paige, who had no family left since Luna passed away. But she still had Raymond.

Paige glanced at her friends, who had been quietly supporting her. Seeing the same sadness on their faces, she felt a wave of gratitude. In that moment, she knew they had her back without needing to say a word. That was enough. Paige said, "First, I want to personally clean Mom's body."

Luna had died a tragic death; she was poisoned, and her body would keep bleeding until it fully clotted. Paige knew how to clean it. Luna always loved looking her best; she deserved to be clean.

Maybe the painful resuscitation and the poison made Luna look a bit twisted. Paige could make some adjustments before her body stiffened. For Luna's farewell, she wanted her to look as dignified as she would have wanted.

Paige continued, "Second, I will personally arrange her funeral."

After saying that, Paige's sorrowful eyes suddenly turned determined and a bit fierce. She changed her tone and said sternly, "As her daughter, the third thing is the most important. I will personally kill the person who murdered her!"

Raymond's heart sank a bit. After a few seconds of silence, he nodded. "Okay." That "okay" meant that if Paige really went after Francesca, Raymond wouldn't stop her. Francesca was the prime suspect now!

Grief wouldn't just vanish with support. Paige bore the pain to clean Luna's body. Every step was tough for Paige. Luna had been sick for so long, kept alive by machines and meds for five years. Her body was in bad shape.

As Paige cleaned her, she saw how much Luna had suffered. From holding back tears to eventually breaking down in sobs, Paige barely managed to finish cleaning Luna's body.

While Paige was cleaning, Pearl had already arranged for clothes and other items for Luna. Paige dressed Luna in her favorite brand, put on her favorite jewelry, and applied light makeup. It made Luna look almost alive. But she lay there, still and with eyes that would never open again.

Paige's tears had dried up. She leaned against the bed, quietly looking at Luna. "Consider it a release. Don't worry, I won't let the person who did this get away."

After saying this, Paige stood up straight. She turned around to find Pearl and the others standing behind her, waiting for her instructions.

Paige said, "She wasn't into big crowds; a simple funeral will do. And no chrysanthemums—she hated those. Let's go with jasmine flowers instead. She didn't have many relatives, so no need to notify a bunch of people."

After giving these instructions, Paige felt her eyes sting. She had missed out on a lot of maternal love growing up, not having many chances to be with Luna. Now, after finally reuniting, Luna was gone. Paige felt a deep sorrow and pain. But she had to accept it and arrange Luna's funeral step by step.

The Carnegie family got the news of Luna's passing the next day. Ethan showed up early with the butler to attend the funeral and comfort Paige, who was in no mood for it.

Ethan finally held Paige's hand and said, "Paige, don't be sad for too long. We can't bring her back; we still have to keep living." Ethan had seen a lot of loss in his life. He knew what he was talking about.

Paige nodded. "Dad, don't worry, I'm fine." She said she was fine, but Luna's death had hit her hard, making her feel like she had lost a part of herself.

Ethan felt helpless, but he knew Paige had to get through this on her own. If she didn't want to move on, no one could make her. She'd be stuck in her own head.

At this point, Ethan hadn't heard about what Francesca had done. With everything going on with Paige, and Francesca being somewhat involved, the staff didn't dare tell Ethan.

Just then, Louis rushed in. He had been drugged and slept until that morning. When he woke up, everyone was gone. Checking his watch, he realized he had missed the surgery.

Not knowing what had happened, Louis called Paige, but her line was busy. He then called Pearl, who hung up on him. Finally, Louis called Amelia, who hesitantly told him that something had happened at the hospital and Luna had passed away.

Louis was shocked. He had no idea what had gone down and rushed to the funeral home. When he arrived, Ethan was about to leave. Seeing Louis, Ethan patted his shoulder and said, "Make sure to comfort Paige well."

Louis walked over, seeing everyone dressed in black. Paige, in black, looked like she had lost her soul. Louis slowly walked up and apologized, "I'm sorry, I..."

Paige heard his voice and looked up at him. She felt some resentment towards him, but also knew it was a bit unfair. She had seen the surveillance video of Louis being taken away unconscious.

Paige tried hard to suppress her irrational feelings. At least Louis had been serious about donating a kidney to Luna, and for that, she should be grateful. Even though Luna didn't live to see that moment. She needed to separate the issues. Louis was Louis, and Francesca was Francesca.
