Chapter68When the Sister Steps In, She's Spectacular

The bodyguards exchanged glances; they had never encountered a woman so brazen before.

Xena let out a sinister laugh and stepped back, giving a swift order to her bodyguards, "For Raymond's sake, spare her wretched life."

Immediately after she spoke, a dozen bodyguards lunged at Paige.

Barehanded, Paige knocked down the first two who approached, sweeping one off his feet while her high heels left bloody marks on the chest of a third.

Julian's eyes lit up as Paige easily showed off her skills. He took a couple of steps back, leaning casually against the door, as he leisurely watched Paige's fight.

Initially, Xena's bodyguards hesitated, but when they saw Paige's impressive skills, they swiftly launched themselves at her with full force.

Without a hint of mercy, Paige drew two daggers from the hem of her dress. With a blade in each hand, she glanced briefly at her mother, still lying on the bed with closed eyes and hooked up to a respirator. A fierce determination flashed in her eyes, and her moves grew even bolder.

“Stand in my way, and you're dead!”

The knives in Paige's hands seemed extensions of her own body as she efficiently struck non-fatal, punishing blows upon the bodyguards.

In less than three minutes, all the bodyguards lay on the floor, the ground smeared with blood, yet Paige remained immaculate.

Xena stood rooted to the spot, shaking uncontrollably as she watched Paige, like a reaper, take down every single one of her well-trained professional bodyguards.

Under three minutes, all of them were injured and groaning on the ground.

Xena's body trembled uncontrollably while Paige crouched down, wiped her daggers clean on the clothes of a fallen bodyguard, slid them back into the sheaths strapped to her leg, and then advanced towards Xena step by step.

Xena, frightened, kept retreating. She hadn't anticipated Paige's combat prowess. If Paige attacked her, she would be powerless to retaliate.

As Xena backed up, Paige moved forward until Xena could retreat no further, her back against the wall with Paige only a step away.

Xena's voice quivered, "What… what do you want?"

Paige’s lips curled up slightly, "The revered master from the Sackler family, the esteemed heir. Tell me, if I were to take you, getting the antidote for my mother's condition shouldn't be a problem, right?"

Paige's smile was sinister. Her hair, once neatly pinned up, had come undone during the scuffle.
Her long black hair, slightly curled, cascaded gracefully down her back, lending her an added allure.

Her ambivalent aura, combined with the gruesome backdrop of bloodshed, made Paige stand out like a devilishly enticing flower amidst the chaos.

Xena was scared, her body trembling uncontrollably, threatened, "Paige, you wouldn't dare! This is the Sanatorium, the Sackler family's turf. If you kidnap me, Grandma won't let you off the hook, neither will Louis."

Xena had no cards left to play except for the threat she hurled at Paige.

Paige glared at Xena with icy disdain. "You'll find out soon enough whether I dare or not."

After speaking, Paige glanced back at Julian.

That man was still lounging against the door, arms crossed, thoroughly enjoying the scene.

Paige frowned, "Get to work, but don't kill her; she's still useful."

At those words, Xena screamed, "Paige, you dare? How dare you abduct me! This is Northwind, and I am the master of the Sackler family; do you have any idea what the consequences will be?"

Xena didn't dare to contemplate the fate that awaited her at Paige's hands.

Julian's lips curved into a smile, "Such deft moves; we should spar sometime."

Julian didn't look at Xena, she was insignificant in his eyes—his gaze was filled with nothing but admiration for Paige.

His main job was ensuring Paige's safety, and when he heard she was about to be released, he assumed she, being a woman, would need his protection.

He had handpicked only the best for his team, not expecting to witness Paige's impeccable fighting skills today.

Paige's martial arts lacked any showiness; each of her moves was purposeful, with no waste. Every strike was about neutralizing the opponent effectively and decisively! Such precision and ruthlessness in Paige truly impressed Julian.

He had trained from a young age, but what about Paige?

Julian's curiosity about Paige grew.

Paige ignored Julian's remarks. On the other hand, Xena watched as Julian approached and began to scream desperately, "Help, somebody, help me..."

Paige shot Xena a piercing stare, "So noisy!"

"Got it," Julian replied. With a swift motion, he struck Xena's neck, knocking her out. Then he turned to Paige as he supported Xena’s limp body, "I'll have someone take her away now."

Paige instructed, "Keep her separated from that doctor."

Julian nodded in understanding. “Got it.”

He swung the door open, handed Xena over to his men to take away, and called out, "Need some help here."

Paige moved to the bedside where her mother lay and was still in a coma.

A tear formed in Paige’s eyes.

Facing a dozen menacing professional bodyguards, she remained stoic. But now, her damp eyes and painful expression betrayed her.

Her mother was her only remaining family.

She gently caressed her mother's cheek as Julian's crew wheeled in the medical equipment, prepared to transport Mrs. Sackler.

"Xanthe, everything you need is here," said one of the team members.

Paige nodded, personally equipping her mother with portable monitoring devices and an oxygen supply.

Then, two men lifted Mrs. Sackler onto a stretcher. Paige walked alongside it.

By the time they brought her mother to the South Orchard villa, Pearl had personally overseen all preparations.

Catching up to Paige, Pearl updated her, "Xanthe, the medical team is ready, and the doctors and nurses are thoroughly vetted."

Paige gave Pearl a quick look. “That was fast.”

Pearl said, "Given your status, you're entitled to a professional medical staff for yourself or anyone close to you who might need it."

“So, it had been arranged in advance.” Paige acknowledged. "I'll leave this in your hands. Make sure everything's set."

Pearl nodded and went off to settle everything.

Paige paused outside the doors of the South Orchard villa and glanced back at the impeccable building, flawless both in location and design.

Then she took out her cell phone.

She was eager to see how Margaret would react upon learning that her granddaughter, treasured as if she were her own child, was now in Paige's hands.

The Sacklers had threatened her for years. It was time to turn the tables. Paige's slender fingers tapped the screen and dialed.

Soon enough, Margaret answered.

In a mocking tone, Paige announced, "Mrs. Sackler, Xena is with me!"
