Chapter 358 How Can a Single Person Understand the Feeling of Being in Love?
Pearl said, "Familiar? How could that be? So far, you haven't even met anyone from those two families."
Paige shook her head, dismissing the thoughts in her mind.
She must be overthinking it. How could such a thing be possible?
Paige turned and continued walking.
After thinking it over a bit more, Pearl had a clearer image in her mind.
However, Pearl quickly dismissed the thought.
The next day, after the issue with the Universe Group's branch was resolved, Paige could finally take a break.
That was the initial plan, anyway.
But after breakfast, Paige seemed to remember something.
She asked, "Is today's schedule only for the evening?"
Pearl answered, "That's right, there's a party at the Morgan family tonight."
Paige nodded, "The issue with the Universe Group has just been resolved, so I'll go to the office as usual today. Also, I'll have lunch at the office."
Paige emphasized the word "lunch," and Pearl immediately understood.
It wasn't about wanting to work; she simply missed Raymond.
Unfortunately, Raymond was already in Arcadia, so they couldn't meet.
However, even a slight alleviation of longing was a good thing.
Pearl said, "Got it, I'll arrange it."
After Pearl finished speaking, she turned to make the arrangements.
As soon as Pearl made the arrangements, Raymond received the news.
Raymond had been listless, suddenly perked up.
He rushed into the kitchen, not even having had breakfast yet, and started preparing Paige's lunch.
In the Universe Group CEO's office, as soon as lunch was served, Paige immediately recognized where the food came from.
Pearl kept her head down and said nothing, and everyone else pretended not to know.
Paige ate slowly, thinking that as long as she didn't dwell on her last name, she wouldn't feel the sense of oppression.
Without that oppressive feeling, her mood improved.
Eating the food, she found her appetite was quite good.
Seeing Paige take the initiative to come to the office and ask for lunch, Pearl thought this might be an opportunity.
Even if Raymond wasn't suitable to appear, a brief appearance or a secret glance to ease the mind might not be a bad idea.
So, when Charles received the news, he immediately went to Raymond. "Mr. Carnegie, there's an important party at the Morgan family tonight."
Raymond looked indifferent. "I'm not interested." He only wanted to cook for Paige. He had personally made the soup for lunch under the chef's guidance, and he wondered if Paige could tell.
The most important thing now was whether Paige needed dinner prepared.
Raymond seemed completely uninterested in external matters, wanting to spend every minute and second of the day on Paige, giving Charles the illusion that Mr. Carnegie couldn't live without Paige.
Charles couldn't bear it and said, "Mr. Carnegie, I mean, Mrs. Carnegie will be at the Morgan family party tonight."
Raymond was suddenly stunned and immediately looked at Charles. "Who's going?"
Charles, gathering his courage, said, "Your wife."
Raymond cursed, "Damn it, why didn't you say so earlier?"
Charles replied, "Mr. Carnegie, don't blame me. I was just about to say it when you interrupted me."
After cursing Charles, Raymond didn't listen to anything else he said.
Paige's dull life in Arcadia was about to end.
And she was going to publicly attend a party, which was a clear signal that he had a chance to see Paige openly.
Actually, there were other opportunities.
For example, he could go to the Universe Group and wait, always able to catch a glimpse of her from afar.
But if she found out, who knew if she would be angry.
Raymond didn't want to take any risks. He didn't dare to do anything that might upset Paige.
But a party was different!
With his status, it would be perfectly normal to "coincidentally" meet Paige at the party.
Raymond was about to head to the kitchen but turned back to his room after hearing the news.
As he walked, he instructed Charles, "Has the Morgan family sent an invitation? If not, get one. Also, keep an eye on the soup in the kitchen and bring it to the party."
Charles said helplessly, "Mr. Carnegie, even if you go to the party to see Mrs. Carnegie, she might not want to see you. And bringing soup? This is the first time I've heard of someone bringing their own food to a party."
Raymond didn't even glance at Charles, just shouted. "What do you know? Paige has been in a bad mood, working hard, and she's pregnant. Doesn't she need good nutrition?"
Charles suddenly found himself under Raymond's scrutinizing gaze.
Charles felt guilty. "Mr. Carnegie, did I do something wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?"
Raymond squinted his eyes, a dangerous glint flashing in them. "You and Pearl seem pretty close!"
Charles trembled inside. "Just average." But this "average" seemed to hit a sore spot for Mr. Carnegie, and once said, it couldn't be taken back.
Raymond said, "You contact her more frequently than I contact Paige? Be honest, have you always known their whereabouts?"
Charles quickly explained, "Mr. Carnegie, I swear, I really didn't know. It was only after you replaced Mrs. Carnegie's meal that Pearl contacted me. If you don't believe me, look, she even strictly forbade me from tracking them, or else she'd cut off contact."
After speaking, Charles took out his phone to show Raymond.
Raymond didn't look, just stared at Charles like he was an idiot, finally shaking his head.
This series of actions, fortunately, was done by Raymond.
If a doctor had done it, Charles would have thought he had a terminal illness.
Charles asked aggrievedly, "Mr. Carnegie, what do you mean? You don't believe me?"
Raymond replied, "It looks like you'll be single for a long time."
After speaking, Raymond patted Charles on the shoulder for encouragement.
Charles was confused. 'Weren't we talking about trust? How did the topic suddenly shift to being single? Is being single his fault?'
