Chapter 185 The Mysterious CEO of the Universe Group

As Xena finished talking, she was just about to shove the pill into Luna's mouth. Luna struggled, and right then, the door swung open.

Xena, with her back to the door, freaked out and couldn't get the pill into Luna's mouth when she heard the door open.

Thinking fast, Xena's hand, which had been gripping Luna's chin, moved to gently stroke Luna's face. So, when Paige walked in, all she saw was Xena holding Luna's face.

Luna's terrified look was still there, and Paige noticed it right away. But Luna had shown a similar look when she first saw Xena, so Paige didn't overthink it, assuming it was just Luna's natural fear of Xena.

After her little act of holding Luna's cheeks, Xena turned to Paige and raised her voice. "Didn't you say you'd let me talk to Mom alone? Why'd you come in again? Are you going back on your word?"

Paige replied, "Mom's really weak and can't handle seeing people or responding. If you stay too long, it'll make both of you uncomfortable. If you have something private to say, do it next time. Look at her; she's not well. If you still consider her your mother, please think about her and don't add any more stress, okay?"

Paige didn't say much else. She just saw that Luna looked unwell and feared that if they stayed alone together any longer, something might go wrong.

Xena glared at Paige with hatred. If Paige had been just one minute later, even just one minute, she could have gotten the pill into Luna's mouth. Then, she would have no more worries.Paige, however, didn't care about Xena's anger at all. Instead, she walked over to Luna and said, "Mom, I'm going to take her for a check-up. The medical staff will be here with you soon. Don't worry, everything's fine."

When Paige walked up to Luna, Luna grabbed Paige's arm in fear and wouldn't let go. Even when Paige said she was taking Xena for a check-up, Luna didn't want to let go.

It wasn't until the familiar medical staff, whom she saw every day, came in, and Paige reassured her that Luna finally let go.

Xena, frustrated, held the small pill in her palm. She could only wait for a second chance now, though she didn't know when that would be.

Under Paige's watchful eye, she had no choice but to leave the room.

In the lounge, Xena looked at Paige. "I said I wanted to talk to Mom alone."

Paige nodded. "Didn't you just talk to her alone?"

Xena retorted, "For how long? Paige, you..."

Paige didn't give Xena a chance to speak. "I told you that staying too long might affect her health. Since she can't communicate properly, let's do the test first. We're at the hospital; don't make a scene, okay?"

Xena gritted her teeth. She had to figure out a way to get another shot. If she didn't do the matching test now, Paige definitely wouldn't let her see Luna again.

"When will the test results be out?" Xena needed to know the timing to plan her next move.

Paige replied, "It's a bit late today. After collecting the data, the latest will be the day after tomorrow."

Xena calculated the time and then suggested, "After the matching test, I want to spend some time alone with Mom." She specifically emphasized "alone" and looked at Paige.

Paige nodded. "Okay."

If the matching test was done, taybe they could spend more time together. If the match was successful, Xena might be more willing to donate a kidney to Luna.

Xena gritted her teeth and went with Paige for the matching test.

During the test, Xena specifically asked the doctor if they were only comparing data for kidney compatibility and not other aspects. After the doctor confirmed, Xena felt relieved and did the test.

After the test, Xena immediately asked, "Can I go see her now?"

Paige replied, "I just asked. She's a bit agitated, and the doctor added a sedative to her IV. She's asleep now. It might be hard to wake her. How about tomorrow? You can come back to see her and wait for the test results?"

This was probably the best attitude Paige had shown Xena since getting out of prison. Out of respect for Luna and the high probability that Xena could save her, Paige temporarily put aside all her hatred.

Xena wanted to say something, but she knew that since Luna was asleep, Paige definitely wouldn't let her see her. She realized she should use this time to quickly find a way to meet the CEO of the Universe Group and finalize their cooperation.

If she didn't manage to deal with Luna before the test results came out, it would be very troublesome if the match was successful.

Xena knew there was a high chance the match wouldn't be successful, but she couldn't take that risk if there was a chance it matched.

Finalizing the cooperation with the Universe Group was the best way to secure her identity and status. Otherwise, if the match was successful and she refused to donate a kidney, her life would be very difficult.

Without hesitation, Xena went back to find Margaret and left immediately.

On the way back, Xena said to Margaret, "Grandma, I want to meet the CEO of the Universe Group. How do you think we can meet this mysterious CEO?"

Margaret felt comforted knowing Xena knew what to do. It meant her efforts to raise Xena worked.

Meeting the mysterious Universe Group CEO, though, would be challenging.

Margaret said, "It looks like we'll have to use our last resort!"
