Chapter 164 Mother and Daughter Reunion
Xena and Margaret were clearly a bit freaked out.
The mess from five years ago was about to blow up.
"Grandma, what if she calls the cops and I get busted? I can't do time!"
"Chill out. I'll go with you. She won't dare pull anything on you."
With Margaret backing her up, Xena felt way more relaxed.
Early the next morning, Margaret got some health supplements ready.
Willow Crest Estate.
When Paige heard someone was at the door, she figured Xena and Margaret showed up so fast 'cause they were feeling guilty.
In the living room, Xena and Margaret were sitting on the couch, looking kinda nervous.
Paige strolled over and kicked things off, "You two got here quick—the culprits from five years ago."
Margaret's face went dark hearing Paige's words.
"Did you call us here just to roast us? Or is it that your Mom's not awake at all, and you tricked us into coming here?"
As soon as Margaret said this, Xena jumped up. "Paige, you're doing this on purpose, aren't you? 'Cause I mocked you about your divorce with Raymond, you're using Mom to mess with me and dragged us here."
Margaret quickly asked, "They're splitting up? Is that true?"
Xena replied, "Totally true, Grandma. I heard it myself. A chick who's been to jail doesn't deserve to marry into the Carnegie family!"
Talking about her jail time, Paige fired back.
"Do you even know why I went to jail? Anyway, now that Mom's awake, she knows it was you who pushed her back then. Perfect time to clear things up."
With Paige's threat, Xena immediately shut up.
Margaret knew this wasn't the time to argue.
"Didn't you say Luna's awake? When are you gonna let me see her? You called us here, and we're here. What are you waiting for?"
Paige casually plopped down on the couch. "Why the rush? You really wanna see her that bad? She's been with you for the past five years, and you haven't shown much care. Oh, I forgot, you probably wished she'd kick the bucket sooner. The only reason you've kept her alive this long is to control me."
Paige was spitting facts. If they really cared for Luna, would she be in such a bad shape now?
If they hadn't drugged her back then, Luna would've bounced back five years ago. She wouldn't be in her current state, with many of her bodily functions wrecked, some beyond repair.
"Cut the crap. Are you gonna let us see her or not? If not, we're outta here."
Paige said, "Pearl, go check if my mom's awake."
Pearl nodded and headed to the room right away.
Paige continued, "You have no heart. You treated a healthy person like a guinea pig, pumped her full of mystery drugs, and left her bedridden for five years. If I had the chance, I'd make you feel her pain. Mark my words: I'll make you experience it."
Every time Paige thought about how Luna couldn't even talk properly anymore, she wanted to make those two pay right then and there. With her medical skills, she could definitely make them feel the pain Luna was going through.
As soon as Paige finished talking, Pearl came back. "Luna just woke up, but I didn't tell her the Sackler family is here."
Paige nodded, got up, and said, "Follow me. I'll let you see the mess you made. If you have any conscience left, seeing her now should make you feel guilty."
Xena and Margaret didn't say a word. They just exchanged glances and followed Paige. No one knew what was going through their minds.
At the door of the room, Paige stopped and said to the two behind her, "Wait here for a sec. I'll go in first."
Ignoring their protests, she went into the room, shutting the door behind her. There were guards at the door. Whatever she said went, and anyone who tried to barge in would be taken down immediately.
Paige entered the room. Luna was already sitting up in bed, and a nurse was washing her face.
The moment she saw Paige, she immediately smiled.
Paige smiled back and walked over. "Mom, I'll get you some breakfast in a sec. I brought a couple of friends to see you. You're gonna feel a lot better after this."
Luna wouldn't stop talking about Xena. Paige was hesitant, but finally gave in and agreed to brought Xuna to see her.
Luna said some words that Paige couldn't understand, but Paige knew it meant she was happy.
Outside the door, Margaret and Xena looked at each other, and they also heard Luna's voice inside.
Seeing Luna happy, Paige called out to the door, "You can come in now."
The door opened again, and the two walked in. At that moment, Luna turned her head to look at them entering. Her pupils dilated, and she was shocked. After a few seconds, Luna suddenly started screaming.
Terrified, she screamed and threw herself into Paige's arms to hide. Paige was stunned.
Hadn't Luna always wanted to see Xena? Why was she freaking out like this?
