Chapter 330 Not Your Biological Granddaughter

Paige could no longer cry. Compared to the emotions tied to her current complex identity, she realized there was a deeper and more significant crisis.

Clearly, from what Margaret said, Mr. Sackler knew that Luna had given birth to a boy. That boy was Louis, the heir to the Sackler family.

But what puzzled Paige was that Luna, until her death, treated her with the affection of a biological daughter. Luna must have been unaware of whether the child she gave birth to was a boy or a girl.

Paige urgently grabbed Margaret's hand and asked, "Since it was Dad who brought me to you, what about my mom? How is she? Was her delivery smooth?"

Although Margaret didn't understand why Paige was suddenly asking about these past events, she cherished the rare opportunity to talk to her more.

Margaret said, "Your mom was weak back then. Although the delivery was relatively smooth, she fainted right after you were born, using up the last bit of her strength. After your dad brought you out, the doctors started treating your mom. Fortunately, she was okay in the end, a close call."

Margaret spoke of a close call, but Paige was stunned.

She breathed deeply, barely managing to get some oxygen into her lungs.

She tried to piece together the truth from back then. Mr. Sackler must have voluntarily swapped the babies with Francesca. As for the specifics, only Francesca would know.

And kind-hearted Luna was deceived her entire life, thinking she had given birth to a daughter.

Paige touched the necklace around her neck, feeling compelled to speak up for Luna.

Her life was truly pitiful. Although fate allowed her to see her child in the end, she never had the chance to know the truth or reunite.

Francesca must have had a shred of conscience left, bringing Louis to Luna's funeral for a final farewell. But what did it matter? Luna never knew Louis was her son, did she?

As for why Mr. Sackler deceived Luna and Margaret, swapping his own son out, only Francesca could ultimately answer that for Paige.

After Margaret finished speaking, she noticed Paige's emotional turmoil.

She asked in confusion, "Paige, why are you suddenly asking about this? And can you tell me why you were squatting at the doorstep in the middle of the night? If the servant hadn't seen you on the surveillance and told me, you might have squatted there until morning without me knowing."

How heartbroken she would have been.

Paige looked at Margaret and suddenly said, "Every wealthy family has its secrets, but I never thought these secrets would have anything to do with me."

Margaret didn't understand Paige's words. "What secrets? The biggest secret in our family is that I wronged you by letting you wander outside for so many years. Now that you're willing to come home, I will make it up to you in my lifetime."

"By the way, I was foolish back then and got five hundred million dollars from Mr. Carnegie. It was returned to the account yesterday, and I plan to withdraw it tomorrow and return it to Mr. Carnegie. I really shouldn't have taken the money, Paige. I'm sorry. I will make it up to you in the future."

Paige had heard Margaret mention the five hundred million dollars before, saying she would get it back and return it to Raymond.

However, neither she nor Raymond cared much about the money.

But the five hundred million dollars made Paige feel that Margaret genuinely wanted to restore their family bond.

Yet, Margaret still didn't know that the grandson she had been longing for truly existed. And Paige was not really a member of the Sackler family.

Although Paige resented Margaret for mistreating Luna and for sending her to the countryside, separating her from her mother, she didn't dare to take away Margaret's affection for her descendants.

Paige looked at Margaret and said, "Actually, I'm not your biological granddaughter. I used to hate you for treating Mom poorly and sending me to the countryside. But now I realize, I can hate you for treating Mom poorly, but I can't hate you for treating me poorly."

Paige added, "Because I'm not really your granddaughter, not a member of the Sackler family. My misfortunes were caused by Francesca. If she hadn't abandoned me first, you wouldn't have abandoned me later."

Paige couldn't secretly enjoy Margaret's attempts to restore their family bond; she had to tell the truth.

But Margaret, hearing this, grabbed her and laughed, "What's wrong with you today, talking nonsense? If you're not my granddaughter, who is? Xena? We did a test in front of you; she was the imposter."

Paige's nose tingled with emotion, "I'm really nota Sackler family child, not your biological granddaughter."

Margaret refuted again, "How is that possible? Xena admitted she used your DNA to pass the test and deceive me. If you're not my biological granddaughter, how could Xena's DNA match? You must be my biological granddaughter, a Sackler family child. Stop overthinking. You're not in a good state today; get some rest, okay?"

Margaret added, "I've prepared a room for you at home, just recently decorated. Go take a look and see if you like it. If there's anything you don't like, tell me, and I'll have it changed tomorrow."

Margaret spoke endlessly, filled with intense love for her granddaughter.

Paige knew she had a sharp nature.

But she had to admit, Margaret's love for her own blood, her family, was deeply ingrained.

Back then, thinking Xena was her biological granddaughter, she had doted on Xena immensely.

Thinking of this, Paige felt even more that she couldn't take a family bond that wasn't hers.

But Margaret was right.

Xena had indeed said she used Paige's DNA to pass the test and deceive the Sackler family.

But now it was proven she was Francesca's daughter, of the Carnegie family bloodline. How could Xena have used her DNA to pass the test?

Paige couldn't figure this out at all.

But the only person who could answer, Xena, was already dead.

As Paige pondered this unsolvable mystery, Margaret continued talking about the furniture and decorations in the room she had prepared for her.

Paige barely listened until Margaret said, "While organizing things these days, I found some items your dad had kept about you. I thought they were related to you, so I put them in your room."

Hearing this, Paige immediately grabbed Margaret's hand and asked excitedly, "Mr. Sackler's belongings? Where are they? What are they?"
