Chapter 268 Revenge in Person
Hearing that, Caleb, feeling helpless, said, "Margaret, you've seen Elijah grow up. Are you really thinking of giving up on him just because of his temper?"
Margaret glanced at Caleb. "It's not about wanting to give up on him. If we could, the whole Trump and Sackler families would try to save him. But it's clear we can't. He insisted on bringing Xena into this mess. If it weren't for Xena, none of this would have happened. Now, the CEO of Universe Group is demanding answers from the Trump family. My words don't carry any weight."
Caleb was quiet for a moment before saying, "Alright, let's go with your plan. Contact the media now and announce that Elijah has been expelled from the Trump family. Strip him of all his shares and cut off all his funds and credit cards."
Making this decision was more painful for Caleb than anything else. But at least this way, he could still protect the Trump Group.
Once Caleb made the call, everyone sprang into action, knowing they had only one night.
As people were starting their workday in the morning and Paige was gearing up to take action, Pearl brought her a flood of reports about the Trump family.
After looking them over, Paige sighed, "They moved fast. Looks like they really have no intention of saving Elijah."
Pearl said, "Ms. Ellison, given your status, whatever you say goes. They can't oppose you.
The Trump family didn't get to where they are today easily. They only reached this point by marrying into the Sackler family. If they were to collapse now, the entire Trump family would be done for."
Paige sneered, "Smart move!"
Since the Trump family had made a statement, Paige couldn't keep pressing them.
Pearl asked, "Are you just going to let the Trump family off the hook?"
Paige replied, "It's not me letting them off; they abandoned Elijah themselves. Elijah is still in the hospital, right? Since the Trump family has given up on him, they shouldn't have any objections to whatever I do to him in the future."
Pearl nodded. "Got it. I'll inform Amelia at the hospital."
The company had many issues that needed Paige's attention. So, after adjusting her mindset, Paige returned to the Universe Group.
Meanwhile, Raymond, not needing to accompany Paige, went back to Hawke Corporation. On the day Luna had her accident, those who deliberately delayed him were now due for a reckoning.
As soon as Raymond entered his office, he made new personnel appointments that came from the highest-level shareholders of Hawke Corporation, meaning that even though these people were under Louis, Louis couldn't stop Raymond's orders.
When Louis got the news and knocked on Raymond's office door, Raymond continued signing other personnel appointments and even termination letters without looking up.
As Louis walked towards Raymond, he said, "Those people have been with the company for a long time. In a couple of years, they would have retired with honor. By doing this, aren't you erasing their lifetime of accomplishments at Hawke Corporation?"
Raymond said nonchalantly, "Who do they have to blame?"
Louis said, "You know they're innocent. They've worked hard for years and have been valuable to Hawke Corporation. Punishing or moving them will raise questions and demoralize other loyal employees."
Those people were now supporters of Louis and were quite influential. Raymond's actions were a blow to their reputation. Not only did it damage their reputation, but it also hurt Louis's.
Employees would assume that Louis, who couldn't even protect his close subordinates, had no real power in Hawke Corporation.
This would make more people assess the situation and lean towards Raymond. Louis was extremely dissatisfied with this.
Since he hadn't had surgery, Louis returned to his original position. However, his workload had greatly decreased in recent days because he had been busy handling a lot of work.
Raymond finally looked up, gently twisted the cap back on his pen, set it down, and looked at Louis.
"Is it because this matter relates to your interests?"
Louis said, "You know that's not what I mean. They've been with the company for a long time and have always done a great job. Is it appropriate to demote them now?"
Raymond stood up. "If it weren't for them wasting my time with trivial matters that night, Mrs. Parker might still be alive. Do you get it now? If not, go ask Francesca."
Louis wanted to say something, but the words got stuck in his throat. Did Francesca specifically arrange for people to delay Raymond that night?
Hearing Raymond's words, Louis didn't even need to ask to know it was true.
Francesca was extremely meticulous in her actions. She arranged to disable the surveillance and had people knock out everyone inside and outside Luna's room.
Paige was reassigned, Raymond was being stalled, and Pearl was busy with work, leaving only Amelia to guard the place.
If it wasn't Francesca's doing, Louis wouldn't believe it. But Louis had never understood why Francesca would go to such lengths just to see Luna.
Louis even began to suspect that Francesca might actually be the one who poisoned Luna. Otherwise, why would she knock out the security and medical staff and disable the surveillance?
The only reason Louis could think of was to leave no evidence of murder. Mentioning this, Louis deflated. He had no reason to continue arguing for those people.
After a long silence, Louis asked, "Is Paige still suspecting my mother as the culprit?"
Louis hadn't even dared to call Paige in the past few days, afraid that Francesca might actually be the one behind it all.
Raymond looked at Louis. He was dealing with these people in the company mainly to vent his anger. He wanted to warn Francesca that personal matters shouldn't be related to business.
If Francesca couldn't separate the two and used these matters for her schemes, she shouldn't blame him for being ruthless. He wasn't specifically targeting Louis. So when Louis asked, Raymond didn't plan to hide it from him.
Raymond answered, "The culprit has been found, and it's not your mom. You can rest easy. But she's just as guilty. If she hadn't assisted, the culprit wouldn't have gained easy access to the room, resulting in Mrs. Parker's poisoning."
Louis focused on the key point and automatically ignored the rest of Raymond's words.
"You said the culprit has been found and it's not my mother. Then who is it? Who could have poisoned Mrs. Parker? Mrs. Parker had been in a coma for five years. After waking up, her health was poor with no social circle. Who would kill her?"
Louis couldn't figure it out. Poisoning Luna was extremely malicious!
Raymond looked at Louis. "What do you think?"
Louis said, "I don't know. Just give it to me straight."
Raymond replied, "It's Xena. She's not insane. Elijah took her out of the psychiatric hospital and smuggled her out of the country since Margaret erased Xena's identity. But before they left, they went to the hospital. Coincidentally, there was no one watching Mrs. Parker's room, and even the surveillance was destroyed."
Louis was almost in shock upon hearing the truth. It was Xena! She wasn't insane and had cruelly murdered Luna.
Suddenly, Louis remembered that it was Xena who pushed Luna down the stairs years ago.
"Could it be that Mrs. Parker knew Xena wasn't her biological daughter? Xena pushed Mrs. Parker down the stairs years ago, nearly killing her, and then kept her in a vegetative state with long-term drug injections.
But if that's the case, why didn't Xena act after Mrs. Parker woke up and instead waited until the last moment before escaping?"
Raymond looked at Louis like he was an idiot. "Did she have the opportunity?"
Louis pondered and slowly shook his head. "No, given Xena's ruthlessness and her true identity, she must have wanted to act against Mrs. Parker long ago. It was probably because Mrs. Parker couldn't speak clearly and her mind wasn't sharp, so it delayed things. By the way, which country did Paige escape to? Have you found her? When will they bring her back?"
For some reason, Louis was eager to know how Xena had killed Luna that night. After all, Francesca inexplicably became an accomplice. This matter was indeed worth investigating.
Raymond said, "You don't need to worry about Xena. Paige will handle it personally! Do you understand?"
This was a warning, forbidding Louis from interfering, as Paige intended to seek her own revenge!
