Chapter 166 They Can't Wait

As soon as the call connected, Ethan's voice came through. "Paige, I'm here to see Luna. My car's already at the entrance."

"Dad, I got it."

Paige quickly told the staff to open the gate.

Ethan wasn't just here to see Luna. He had another agenda—to discuss her divorce from Raymond.

This was a big deal, and Ethan was all over it.

Luna was feeling way better now, and she could pretty much get what Paige was saying.

Paige carefully said, "Actually, another guest is here to see you. It's Ethan, the guy I mentioned before. Wanna see him?"

Luna got it and nodded.

Paige let out a small sigh of relief; it was good she was up for it.

A servant said Ethan was already in.

"Paige, check this out. These are all the nutritional supplements I've been collecting for a while. I even asked experts; they're all good for Luna's health."

Looking at those items, Paige knew Ethan had really put in the effort.

"Dad, thanks."

Paige helped Ethan and said, "Mom's awake now. Dad, let me take you to see her."

"Earlier today, Margaret and Xena came over, and as soon as Mom saw Xena, she freaked out. Not sure if she's scared of everyone or just them."

By now, Ethan got what she meant.

Ethan said, "Don't worry, Luna will get better. If she gets worse, I'll leave right away to avoid upsetting her."

So far, Ethan hadn't mentioned the divorce, and Paige wasn't gonna bring it up either.

They walked to Luna's room, and Ethan followed Paige to Luna's bedside.

Luna turned her head to look.

Paige had told her a bunch of times that she was married and that the Carnegie family was her other home.

Now, seeing Ethan, Luna knew who he was.

Paige quickly introduced, "This is Ethan. Remember him?"

Ethan stepped forward. "Hey, Luna. I heard you woke up, so I came to see you uninvited."

Luna was happy, holding Paige's hand and nodding a lot.

Paige rarely saw her this happy.

"Dad, have a seat. Mom's speech isn't fully back yet, so she might not be very clear. Please understand."

Ethan sat down and nodded. "It's okay. It's been five years, it's already a miracle she woke up. Paige, spend more time with her."

Paige nodded. "I will."

During lunch, the nurse fed Luna while Paige ate with Ethan.

At the table, Ethan brought up the main issue.

"Paige, hasn't Raymond come to say sorry in person yet?"

Paige replied, "Dad, I've already got the lawyer working on the divorce. Please don't try to talk me out of it, okay?"

Since the divorce was already in motion, there was no point in trying to change her mind.

Ethan said, "Paige, are you really going through with this? I've done some digging; there's nothing between Raymond and that woman. If you don't believe me, I can get him here right now. I was the one who introduced you two, and now that you're splitting up, I can't handle it."

Paige didn't expect Ethan to be so worked up about the divorce.

So she got up, walked over to Ethan, leaned close to his ear, and whispered a few words. Ethan's face gradually softened.

After Paige finished talking, Ethan sighed.

It wasn't until she saw Ethan off that Paige finally felt a bit of relief.

Thinking back to Luna's behavior today, Paige felt something was off.

Paige found Pearl and said, "Get some people who took care of my mom in the hospital five years ago. I need to know exactly when they gave her that drug."

Pearl replied, "Got it. I'll look into it."

Paige went back upstairs to work. The documents had been delivered in the morning, but she hadn't had a chance to look at them yet.

When she opened them, she found that one document had already expired.

Paige immediately called Pearl over. "What's going on?"

Because it was an urgent document, if Paige didn't handle it on time, the matter would proceed according to the company's standard procedures.

But if it followed the standard procedures, there would be a problem.

Pearl looked at the document and was also shocked. "I'm sorry, Xanthe. It was my bad. I didn't check the specific content when I organized the documents this morning. Wait, this kind of urgent document shouldn't be in an ordinary folder."

Pearl flipped through the documents again. Her morning summary showed no urgent documents. Xanthe could have handled it this morning, but it was in an ordinary folder and wasn't processed in time, causing a loss. Pearl's reaction made Paige understand immediately.

"Investigate this thoroughly. If there's no serious punishment for the first time this happens, it will keep happening. If we let this slide this time, it will happen again next time."

Pearl answered, "Xanthe, this has never happened before."

Paige coldly smiled. "Seems like someone is well-informed and couldn't wait any longer!"
