Chapter 173 This Could Be Considered an Alliance
Paige snapped out of her thoughts when she saw Violet. She jumped up. "What's up with my mom?"
"She just threw up, and there was blood. The doctor's with her now. Xanthe, you should check it out."
Hearing that Luna had vomited blood, Paige's heart raced.
Vomiting blood was serious. If something bad happened, it would be a big problem.
Everything was fine today. It was so confusing that this happened.
Paige got up and headed straight for the ward. After a few steps, she turned back to them. "Sorry, I gotta go. Feel free to hang out."
Paige made a beeline for the ward.
Amelia and Frederick exchanged looks. Frederick asked, "What's going on?"
Amelia shrugged. "No idea, but did you catch that? They called her Xanthe."
Amelia had a gut feeling she was onto something big. This was definitely the right move.
Amelia felt quite happy, but she tried to keep it cool since Luna seemed to be in trouble.
Amelia suggested, "Frederick, maybe we should see if we can help..."
Frederick nodded before she even finished. "Yeah, let's go."
Paige had said they could stay, after all. She didn't say they couldn't visit the patient.
Paige got to the ward first. Violet was cleaning up Luna's vomit, and Paige saw the blood.
The doctor was busy checking on Luna. Paige rushed over.
Luna was already asleep. Paige asked, "What happened?"
The doctor said, "She passed out after vomiting blood."
Paige frowned. The first thing she did was checked Luna.
The doctor said, "Her condition came on suddenly. I recommend a full physical exam."
Paige nodded. "Okay."
"We need a good hospital. We can go there for the exam and come back. The equipment here isn't enough. Xanthe, do you want to go to the hospital?"
Normally, Paige would just buy whatever equipment was missing. But now, she couldn't wait for it to arrive. "Let's go to the hospital."
Just then, Amelia's voice came from the door. "How about I make a call? The Smith family just invested in a private hospital."
Paige turned around, surprised to see Amelia and Frederick had followed. But since they had this option, Paige didn't argue. She nodded. "Set it up."
Northwind's private hospital had good equipment.
Amelia was glad they followed. They would've missed this chance otherwise.
Paige gave Luna a quick treatment and arranged for her to be taken to the Smith family's private hospital for a check-up. Since a shareholder set it up, they got a VIP room right away.
Luna's full exam was set for the next morning, and Paige's trusted doctors and nurses stayed in the ward.
After vomiting blood, Luna had woken up but had been sleeping since.
Once everything was settled, Paige finally took a breath.
Amelia and Frederick had stuck with Paige to the hospital, and everything was handled smoothly.
Paige glanced at the sleeping Luna and then plopped down in the lounge next to the ward. Frederick and Amelia sat across from her.
Paige said, "It's been a whole afternoon. You two have been running around with me. Are you sure you want to pick me? Not Louis or someone else? Northwind's got plenty of rich families with deep pockets. They've got the resources to help you get established here."
Amelia replied, "You forget, our family has everything but money problems. We have so much cash, we even invested in a hospital, an industry we know nothing about. If you're willing to guide us, we can avoid a lot of mistakes."
Paige smiled a bit and extended her hand. "Alright then, let's trust your smart choice."
Amelia looked at Paige's hand, her eyes lighting up, and nudged Frederick. "Frederick, what are you waiting for?"
Frederick, being the heir of the Smith family, knew it was his place to seal the deal with a handshake.
Realizing this, Frederick quickly extended his hand and shook Paige's.
Paige grinned. "You guys are full of surprises."
Amelia smiled and pulled a USB drive from her bag, handing it to Paige. "Paige, this is for you."
Paige took the USB drive, already guessing what it held. "Wouldn't it be more useful for you to keep it?"
Amelia shook her head. "Since we chose you, it's not convenient for us to use this. No matter what, Xena is tied to you. So, I think you should handle it."
Paige hadn't felt this relaxed and pleased talking business in a long time. It was rare to find someone as sharp as Amelia.
Paige took the USB drive and said, "Actually, this can't really threaten Xena. This happened just a few days ago, and she's already back in high society. She even went to a club today, but it seems she ran into you and left upset."
Amelia smiled lightly. "We bumped into Louis and chatted. I walked in with Louis, no big deal, but Xena saw. She acts like losing the Carnegie engagement doesn't matter, but she's jealous."
Paige knew Xena's competitive nature. She wouldn't be warm to Amelia. But with her weakness in Amelia's hands, no matter how unhappy she was, she couldn't do anything to Amelia.
Paige said, "She came to see me this morning and sent some photos in the afternoon to mock me. I've blocked her again."
If it weren't for the misunderstanding, thinking Luna wanted to see her, Paige wouldn't have removed Xena from the blacklist.
Amelia glanced towards the ward. "Did she come to visit Mrs. Luna Sackler?"
Paige replied, "She's not worthy. It was my misunderstanding of my mom's intentions. She still can't speak clearly, so it was my mistake. Letting her come made Luna's condition worse today."
Thinking of the blood Luna vomited, Paige felt uncomfortable. She wondered if it was because Luna was scared this morning.
After being forced into a coma for five years, her body was already very weak. If she was emotionally affected, new problems could easily arise.
Amelia wanted to ask more but knew it was Paige's family matter, and it wasn't appropriate to pry.
Amelia knew that the person lying in the hospital bed was Luna from the Sackler family. In high society, there were almost no stories about her, as if she never existed. "I heard Yasmin was always bad to Luna, so she stayed home most of the time and rarely attended social events."
