Chapter 170 Lily, the Daughter of the Mr. Morgan
Charles took a quick look and realized the person they nabbed was Xena. He leaned in and whispered something to Raymond, and just like that, Raymond's face turned stormy.
"How the hell did this happen? Why's the Sackler family still kicking around?"
Charles shrugged. "Paige hasn't made a move yet. Looks like she's got her own game plan. Should we hit her up first?"
Raymond shook his head. "Nah, let her handle it. She's got her plans, let her deal with the Sacklers."
If Raymond stepped in, the Sackler family would be history in Northwind by now.
A bit later, Lily strolled over, just off a phone call.
She beamed, "My brother's heading to Northwind right away. He's been eyeing Northwind's growth for years. If he can set up shop here, he'd be over the moon."
Raymond replied, "Too bad you're not into business. If you were, I'd let you run my operations. The Morgan family is all about business, after all. Thought you'd have picked it up by now."
Lily was floored that Raymond would even consider letting her into Hawke Corporation's business.
"Raymond, why are you so good to me?"
Raymond turned and grinned. "You saved my life. I'd do anything for you."
Lily's smile grew even wider. "It's fate. I just happened to be there that day with a few tough bodyguards."
Raymond gently patted Lily's hand.
Lily was all smiles. She was gorgeous and had saved Raymond's life. It made sense he'd be loyal to her.
Plus, she was young and innocent. Who'd doubt her?
The waiter led Raymond to Louis's private room. After a knock, another waiter inside opened the door.
Louis wasn't thrilled to see Raymond bringing Amelia along.
But Raymond was his elder, so Louis had to play nice.
He got up and walked over to Raymond, respectfully saying, "Uncle."
Raymond asked, "I saw your car outside and figured you were here, so I came to say hi. You haven't officially met yet, have you?"
Raymond was talking about Lily behind him.
Louis had seen her a few times at Windrain Tower but never said hi.
Seeing Raymond with this woman puzzled him.
Raymond already had Paige. Why was he messing around with other women?
Couldn't he just appreciate Paige? And this woman was no match for Paige in looks or brains.
Everyone else stood up when they saw Raymond. He didn't show up often, so people didn't know much about him. But one thing was clear: nobody wanted to mess with him.
There were still whispers that Louis's dad died in a car accident over a family property fight. It showed how ruthless Raymond was, even to his own brother.
The only reason he didn't take over was because he was also disabled. Even so, Louis hadn't secured his spot at Hawke Corporation for years. If Raymond weren't disabled, he'd be running Northwind!
Everyone was super respectful to Raymond.
Louis gave Lily a quick look, and she stood there all confident, introducing herself.
Lily said, "I've heard a lot about Mr. Louis Carnegie, the big boss at Hawke Corporation. I have to admit you definitely have that boss vibe. Hi, I'm Lily, the youngest daughter of Mr. Morgan from the Morgan Group in Arcadia."
Her intro and background left everyone in the room stunned.
Francesca had been on the hunt for the perfect girl for Louis to lock down his position through marriage.
But out of nowhere, Raymond brings in Lily from the Morgan Group.
The Morgan Group in Arcadia was just a notch below the Universe Group, which was just a branch, while the Morgan Group was a powerhouse, making their statuses worlds apart.
Louis was floored. He had tried to dig up info on this woman before but came up empty.
Since Raymond brought her into Windrain Tower, there was no registration, and he couldn't even get her name.
Now, she drops her name and the Morgan Group bombshell, and Louis was shook.
Was Raymond really planning to ditch Paige and marry Lily?
And Lily seemed totally smitten with him, which made Louis feel a bit better.
A divorce between Paige and Raymond might be a good thing. Maybe it was a way out of the mess.
Louis shook hands with Lily. "Uncle's one lucky guy to have a beauty like Miss Morgan pushing his wheelchair."
As he said this, Louis glanced at Raymond.
He couldn't wrap his head around why Raymond, who was nearly ten years older than Lily and in a wheelchair, attracted Lily, who was young, gorgeous, and from a rich family. She could have any young hotshot she wanted. Why was she into Raymond?
It was a real head-scratcher.
Lily caught the drift in Louis's words and shot back, "Raymond is the most handsome man I've ever seen, even more so than my dad and brother. I think our kids would be even more beautiful."
Raymond, sitting in his wheelchair, kept a poker face and just said to Louis, "The Morgan Group and Universe Group have overlapping projects. Teaming up would help both of us go further."
Louis looked at Raymond, sensing some serious vibes.
Raymond had always wanted to get his hands into Hawke Corporation's business, and now he was bringing in a heavy hitter.
If they teamed up and the ally was on Raymond's side, Louis's position would get even shakier.
The more this happened, the more Raymond could directly challenge his spot and become the CEO of Hawke Corporation.
Louis didn't agree right away and said, "We can't hash out cooperation here. Let's talk about it at the company later. I wonder what Mrs. Carnegie would think seeing you and Miss Morgan together."
Raymond, who had been stone-faced, couldn't help but crack a smile, like he was pleased to hear that title.
But soon, his smile faded.
Lily was a bit miffed. "You can't wait to change how you address me? But my marriage with Raymond might take some time."
