Chapter 295 Car Accident
In the car, Paige and Francesca sat together. Opposite them were Raymond and Louis.
The four of them sat facing each other, and any slight movement from anyone was fully visible to the others.
Paige didn't hide anything and kept in contact with Quentin throughout the journey.
Despite the unstable reception, Quentin still broadcast live to Paige.
So Paige's phone constantly displayed footage of Quentin transporting Xena.
It seemed intentional that Paige tilted her phone slightly towards Francesca, so even a slight glance from Francesca would reveal the footage on Paige's phone.
Xena had her hands tied, mouth taped, and eyes covered. Although her feet weren't visible, it was evident that they were bound as well.
Francesca was extremely nervous. She had no time to contact her subordinates or inform them of her current situation.
She feared that at any moment, the live stream might show the face of one of her subordinates, which would be very awkward.
Paige's peripheral vision caught Francesca's face, which indeed didn't look good.
Paige's hand shook slightly with the bumps from Quentin's car, and she said, "The road conditions on their side aren't great. Are they almost arriving at the destination?"
Francesca tensed up again, "I'm not familiar with this area."
Paige nodded, "That's right, Francesca usually goes to high-end places. She definitely never been to such messy and complex areas."
After saying that, Paige didn't say anything else but directly called Quentin to ask how far they were from the agreed destination at the border.
Afraid that Francesca couldn't hear the conversation, Paige 'considerately' put the call on speaker.
Paige said, "Quentin, we have about an hour's drive left. How about you?"
Quentin answered, "Ms. Ellison, don't worry. We'll arrive before you. I'll get everything set up and be ready to welcome you upon your arrive."
Paige smiled, "Alright, stay safe."
As soon as Paige finished speaking, a loud crash came from the phone.
It was the sound of a sudden collision, and then Quentin's phone went silent.
Paige frowned and immediately reacted. "Car accident."
At the mention of a 'car accident', Raymond and Louis looked over at Paige. But a second later, Louis turned to Francesca.
Francesca's hand clenched tightly in the shadows, her nails digging deep into her skin, but she didn't feel the pain.
Paige exclaimed anxiously into the phone, "Quentin, Quentin, please respond, what's the situation?"
Not hearing Quentin's voice, Paige quickly exited the call and opened the live stream.
Sure enough, the footage revealed a traffic accident, with a large truck having flipped Quentin's car.
The car was overturned, and while no individuals were visible, the damage to the car didn't seem severe.
Quentin hung out in the jungle, and his car all had a highly secure rating that being fully bulletproof. Even though it was flipped, it wasn't deformed too much.
It can be assumed that the people inside weren't in life-threatening danger.
Paige shot a sharp glance at Francesca, who was too nervous to say a word.
The live stream camera seemed to have been bumped to one side, showing an upward angle. Paige could see two men in black clothes and boots getting out of the truck. Due to the angle, their faces weren't visible.
However, it was clear that both men were holding guns, shooting as they walked towards Quentin's two cars.
A burst of bullets left only some marks on the car, with no real damage.
As the two men reloaded, two people suddenly emerged from one side of the car, shooting so quickly that the men in black couldn't react. Their arms were hit, and their guns fell to the ground.
Paige recognized the familiar figures from the camera and breathed a sigh of relief as her heart fell back into her stomach.
At the same time, Francesca's phone rang.
Francesca, almost in a panic, pulled out her phone and immediately hung up.
Paige took a glance at Francesca. 'The timing of this call is really something.'
Before Paige could speak, her phone rang. Seeing it was Quentin calling back, Paige answered immediately.
"Ms. Ellison, we had a minor incident. We noticed a car following us when we left. Just now, we were hit, but we were prepared. The other side is now under our control. Do you have any instructions?"
It turned out that Quentin had known he was being followed all along.
"Is everyone okay?"
"Thank you for your concern, Ms. Ellison. We're all fine. However, the camera screen seems to be damaged, so the image quality might not be great."
"That's alright, we'll be there soon. There might still be surprises on the way, so stay alert. Don't interrogate the captured ones; bring them along with Xena, and I'll handle it."
As Paige finished speaking, Francesca's phone suddenly fell.
Francesca didn't pick up her phone but immediately looked at Paige.
Paige smiled at Francesca, then said, "Quentin, I'll hang up first. You guys pack up and keep going."
After hanging up, Francesca's phone rang again.
Francesca didn't move, but Paige bent down to pick up Francesca's phone.
"Why don't you answer the phone?"
With her phone in Paige's hand, Francesca knew the caller at a mere glance.
The people who had been following Quentin were now detained by him, and someone was calling Francesca to report the situation.
But Francesca couldn't answer the call now.
Paige's finger hovered over the screen. A simple swipe would connect the call for Francesca.
However, Paige's finger stayed on the screen, neither answering nor hanging up, leaving the phone ringing.
It was as if a blade was pressed against Francesca's throat, neither ending her life nor allowing her any respite.
Paige was a master at manipulating emotions and had completely cornered Francesca.
Cold sweat soaked Francesca's back, almost drenching her clothes.
She hadn't expected Quentin to have noticed her subordinates following him and to have been prepared for it.
For such matters, the element of surprise is crucial to achieve the most desirable effect.
Being discovered in advance meant losing the initiative, and Francesca had lost this round completely.
The most critical part was that her people were detained by Quentin.
Francesca gritted her teeth and cursed inwardly, 'Useless!'
Her trained people shouldn't be this weak, but then again, Quentin was driving a bulletproof car and was highly alert, clearly not an ordinary person.
Over the years, Francesca had focused her main efforts on major foreign countries and didn't know much about this small border country.
She had no idea what kind of tough opponent she had encountered this time.
In any case, the situation was far from optimistic.
Since she couldn't directly deal with Xena, Francesca had to think of another way.
Now, Xena was definitely going to be handed over to Paige.
Maybe she could only use her last resort!
Steadying herself, Francesca forced a slight smile. Seeing that the call hadn't been disconnected, she swiftly grabbed her phone from Paige's hand.
Having her phone in Paige's hand was too dangerous.
If Paige answered the call, everything might be exposed.
Francesca quickly hung up the call and adjusted her emotions to explain her unusual behavior.
"Spam call, probably ads."
Paige looked at Francesca, surprised by her emotional management.
Paige couldn't understand how Francesca, no matter how capable, was just a wealthy lady.
If it were an ordinary lady, they wouldn't be able to adjust their emotions and mindset so quickly in such a situation.
Francesca's ability to adapt was truly remarkable.
Paige scrutinized Francesca, realizing she couldn't see through her at all.
Originally, Paige saw Francesca as a top-tier lady, not only with the elegance of a high-society lady but also with some business acumen, which helped Louis secure the CEO position at Hawke Corporation.
But now, seeing Francesca's calm and quick emotional adjustment, Paige was genuinely impressed.
At this moment, Paige even thought that Francesca had already come up with a new plan!
Paige didn't push further.
Instead, she smiled and responded to Francesca's comment, "Ads are indeed annoying, calling over and over."
Francesca gave an awkward smile and said no more.
The car continued on its way, and an hour later, they safely arrived at their destination.
Quentin and his team, disguised as ordinary businessmen, brought Xena to the agreed location. They didn't arrive much earlier but still before Paige's group.
As the car stopped, Quentin personally came up to open the door for Paige.
Quentin was of medium height, slightly overweight, with a menacing scar on his face, making him look tough.
He was followed by a group of subordinates, each looking merciless and ferocious. An ordinary person would be scared just by seeing them.
But when welcoming Paige, Quentin's face was full of smiles, though the scar made his smile look more like a grimace.
However, his fierce demeanor was restrained, and he was all smiles and compliments towards Paige.
Quentin: "Ms. Ellison, it's great to see you again, fairy godmother, my savior. Everyone, come to greet her."
One moment Quentin was all smiles, and the next, he turned to his subordinates with a serious face.
The fierce-looking men stood in unison and greeted Paige, "Hello, Ms. Ellison."
Paige smiled lightly, "Hello, everyone. Quentin, long time no see. You look well."
Quentin replied, "Yes, yes, Ms. Ellison, you saved my life, so I have to take care of myself."
Paige smiled, knowing Quentin indeed valued his life.
However, Paige didn't have much time for small talk, so she got straight to the point.
"Where are they? Have you brought them all?"
Quentin nodded, "Yes, besides Xena, there are three men. Two have broken arms, and one is unharmed. They're all tied up over there, separated."
Paige said, "Good."
As they spoke, Raymond, Louis, and Francesca got out of the car.
Pearl, Amelia, and others also gathered from another car.
Raymond walked to Paige's side automatically.
Quentin's gaze lingered for a moment, and Paige introduced him, "This is my husband."
Raymond extended his hand to Quentin, expressing his gratitude for helping Paige.
Quentin shook Raymond's hand and said, "You're lucky, getting a fine wife."
Paige looked at Raymond and smiled at Quentin, "Meeting Raymond was my good fortune. By the way, these are my family and friends."
Paige briefly introduced the others.
Then Quentin took Paige directly to check on Xena.
Xena was locked in a separate room. When Quentin and Paige entered, they saw Xena curled up in a corner.
Her hands and feet were bound, and she had a black hood over her head. It could be imagined that her mouth was gagged.
Hearing someone enter, Xena, curled up in the corner, wriggled like a worm with its tendons cut.
Xena couldn't make a sound.
Paige looked at the wriggling figure on the ground, unable to recognize Xena from her appearance alone.
She was completely different from before.
Her tattered clothes couldn't hide her emaciated frame.
Paige knew well the torture Xena had endured recently.
If Paige hadn't wanted her alive, a bit more torture would have ended Xena's life.
Quentin walked over and removed Xena's hood, revealing her face, though she was so thin she was almost unrecognizable.
If Paige hadn't been familiar with her, seeing her daily in videos, she might not have recognized Xena.
Quentin pointed at Xena and said to Paige, "Ms. Ellison, here's the person you wanted, still alive."
Paige nodded, "Quentin, thank you. She murdered my mother. If it weren't for your help, she might have escaped, and catching her again would have taken much more time."
Quentin was shocked, "She murdered someone? And that's your mother? If I had known, I wouldn't have been so gentle, instead of cutting off her hands or feet."
Paige glanced at Xena and then said to Quentin, "You've done enough. The rest, I'll handle myself."
