Chapter 321 Why Is Fate So Cruel

Francesca choked up, tears streaming down her face. She looked at Paige but couldn't find the words to speak.

Paige, also with tear-filled eyes, looked at Francesca as if an invisible force was striking her heart, causing a dull pain that made it seem impossible to survive the next moment.

Francesca once again stopped Locas. "No need for a test, Paige is my biological daughter!"

Tears blurred Francesca's vision completely. Even though she was looking at Paige, she couldn't clearly see Paige's expression.

Francesca knew that once things reached this point, there was no turning back.

She had made her best effort to handle everything before the truth was revealed.

Francesca painfully closed her eyes, trying to squeeze out the tears so that she could see more clearly and get a better look at Paige's expression.

But even after doing that, when she looked at Paige again, all she could see on Paige's face was despair and pain.

Behind Paige, Raymond stepped forward to go to her side, but Locas took a step to block him.

"Not now, don't hurt her," Locas pleaded with his eyes as he looked at Raymond.

With Francesca's words, Paige's identity instantly changed.

And her relationship with Raymond became sinful and awkward in an instant.

Locas just wanted to protect Paige a little.

Raymond, however, wanted to go to Paige's side at all costs, but Amelia, who had been stunned just now, reacted and grabbed Raymond's sleeve. "Mr. Carnegie, give her some time to process this."

After Francesca revealed the truth, Paige stood there in shock, her face filled with sadness and despair, magnified infinitely.

She had loved her mother for many years, even though they had been forced apart when she was very young. They had always longed for and waited for each other.

But today, Paige learned that such a cruel truth had been waiting for her.

She had waited for this truth, while Luna had died in ignorance.

Luna didn't even know whether she had given birth to a son or a daughter.

Paige's heart felt as if it were being gouged out by a barbed knife. The pain was almost unbearable.

At this moment, Francesca's steps slowly moved towards her.

Francesca extended her slightly trembling hand, slowly reaching out to Paige, as if wanting to touch her and wipe away her tears.

But just as Francesca, with tears streaming down her face, was about to touch Paige, Paige instinctively took a step back.

Francesca's hand froze in mid-air, and her tears flowed even more fiercely.

Francesca refused to give up and took another step forward, though it was unsteady and weak.

But after more than twenty years, her biological daughter, the one she hadn't had a chance to hold and kiss when she was born, was finally standing in front of her as her daughter.

Even though the future might be a deep abyss, at this moment, Francesca wanted to touch her.

As Francesca took a step forward, Paige took another step back.

However, Francesca still didn't give up. Every tear-filled step she took forward was in the hope of getting even a small response from Paige.

Every day, every minute, every second after meeting Luna, Francesca had wanted to do this.

But before the truth was revealed, she didn't dare and couldn't.

Now, with the truth revealed, she was just a mother! After more than twenty years, she finally had the chance to know what her daughter looked like.

How cruel was this truth for her?

Francesca took another step forward, and Paige didn't retreat. Francesca was delighted, thinking Paige was willing to accept her a little.

But just as Francesca's fingertips were about to touch Paige's face, Paige screamed in anger.

Paige's tears still hung on her eyelashes, crystal clear yet filled with sorrow and grief.

The scream seemed to unleash all her strength at that moment. "Don't touch me!"

Francesca was startled by Paige's extreme anger and scream, and she froze, her hand still outstretched in front of Paige.

Tears flowed from her eyes, each drop a blend of hurt and pain.

Paige raised her hand and knocked away Francesca's hand in front of her, repeating, "Don't touch me, take your hand away. We have nothing to do with each other!"

Francesca endured with all her might, her lips trembling with extreme pain, causing her to bite her lip until it bled.

Paige shook her head. "You're lying, you're talking nonsense! I'm not your daughter, I'm not!"

Francesca, with tears streaming down her face, looked at Paige. "Didn't you want the truth? No matter how I tried to stop you, you wanted the truth. Now the truth is right in front of you. This is the truth; I am your biological mother. Paige, do you think I'm not in pain? I'm in more pain than anyone else, do you know that? It's not that I didn't want to acknowledge you, but look at how cruel this world is to me."

"My biological daughter, by a twist of fate, ended up marrying her uncle. After I met Mrs. Parker, I was in unbearable pain. Do you think it didn't hurt me to spend so much effort and money to incite those women to seduce Raymond? Do you think it didn't hurt me to see you in such agony over Mrs. Parker's death? But did I have a choice? I didn't!"

"I would rather bear all this pain alone, as long as I could separate you and Raymond. I would do anything. I would rather not acknowledge you, so you wouldn't know. I kept urging Louis to pursue you, to marry you. It was the only thing I could do for you. Louis is a child I raised and supported. I know him well. As long as he married you, even if you never knew our relationship, so what? We would become a real family, and I would be content. My life would be complete. Paige, it's not that I didn't plan for you. I just wanted you to suffer a little less, even if it was just a little."

Francesca used all her strength to say these words, but Paige, already furious, couldn't listen anymore.

Paige covered her ears and screamed, "Shut up, don't say anymore, I don't want to hear it."

Paige screamed with all her might, but suddenly she couldn't control it, and her stomach churned violently, making her feel like she was going to vomit before she could finish speaking.

She hurriedly ran to the nearby trash can, knelt beside it, and started to vomit.

Paige's condition instantly tugged at everyone's heartstrings.

Francesca, even more so, rushed to Paige's side without hesitation.

Francesca asked worriedly, "Paige, what's wrong? Why are you vomiting, Paige? How long has this been happening? Could it be that you..."
