Chapter 182 Agree to Do a Matching Test

Margaret stood her ground, and Paige slammed the table, fuming. "You don't have a choice. You have to agree."

Paige then yelled upstairs, "Xena, get down here! Your mom gave you life, and you pushed her down the stairs, putting her in a coma for five years and landing me in prison. I can let that slide. But now, she's in the hospital. You need to get tested for a match."

Seeing Paige causing a ruckus, Margaret quickly got up to intervene. "Why are you yelling? This isn't your house, Paige. Don't make trouble here. I've already said I won't force Xena to get tested for Luna. This should be voluntary. You're pushing her."

Paige started heading upstairs, knowing exactly where Xena's room was. "So what if I'm pushing you? Yeah, I am. Either Xena gets tested, or I turn myself in and spill everything from five years ago. It's the test, or we all go to jail."

With that, Paige continued upstairs.

Margaret was clearly shaken by Paige's words. She knew Paige would do anything for Luna. If Xena refused the test, Paige would definitely report her. Five years ago, Paige took the fall. Now, she might do it again to save Luna. This was just Margaret's guess.

Paige knew their weak spots and was hitting them hard. With her current status, she had countless ways to torment Margaret and Xena. But the best move now was to use this threat.

The Sackler family only had Xena as an heir. The older generation was aging and couldn't manage the company much longer; it would have to go to Xena. And clearly, Xena still needed training and experience; they needed to save time.

Margaret hesitated for a moment but quickly followed upstairs. "Paige, don't forget the Sackler family has been good to you. You're not a Sackler, but my son gave you your name. Even though you grew up in the countryside, we always paid for your living expenses and everything.''

''Luna's illness is tough, but Xena is our only heir. You're putting her and me at risk. If something happens to Xena, I can't go on. I can trade my life for hers."

Xena had already heard Paige shouting for her downstairs and was hiding in her room, scared that Paige would drag her for the test. She knew very well that if Paige really tried to take her by force, Margaret wouldn't be able to stop her.

Sure enough, Paige was already upstairs. Margaret, who had followed, indeed couldn't stop Paige.

Paige reached Xena's room and was about to kick the door open.

Margaret blocked the door. "If you're going to kick, kick me. I don't have many years left anyway. You want a kidney, right? Take mine. I'll get tested. The Sackler family's hopes all rest on Xena. If you must have her kidney, you might as well take my life."

Paige snapped back, "What am I supposed to do with your life? Xena, get out here."

Xena stayed silent in her room, barely breathing, afraid Paige would hear her.

Paige saw Margaret blocking the door, refusing to budge.

Amelia, anxious, chimed in, "Mrs. Luna Sackler is in critical condition. If Xena doesn't get tested, word will spread, and it'll hurt her reputation even if she takes over the Sackler Group."

Amelia had a point. If Xena got a reputation for not saving her mom, the Sackler Group would be shunned, and Xena would be criticized in high society. After all, Luna was her mother. If she didn't save her own mom, nobody would trust her. If she could let her own mother die, it would be a character risk for any partner.

Just as Margaret was about to keep blocking the door, it opened from the inside. Xena stood there. "I want to talk to her first. I haven't spoken to her since she woke up."

Xena made her request. She wasn't as scared as before, and with Paige's pressure, she had no choice but to step out.

Paige knew Luna didn't want to see Xena. Seeing her would make her very emotional. But now that Xena made the request, Luna had to meet her to possibly get Xena to do the matching test or even donate a kidney.

Paige had no choice but to nod. "Fine, you can see her now. But she's having trouble communicating. Her language skills have deteriorated, and she can't even say a name. If you consider that talking to her, go ahead."

Paige didn't know what Xena wanted to talk to Luna about, but there was no choice. Xena rarely agreed to go, so they had to try.

Margaret turned and grabbed Xena. "Xena, you can't go for the matching test. You're her daughter. If Paige didn't match, you will. If they really take one of your kidneys, what will your life be like?"

Xena held Margaret's hand. "Grandma, I know. If I don't go, she won't let me go. Sooner or later, I'll have to go. It's okay, don't worry. I'll be fine. Just let me go."

Margaret held onto Xena. "If you go, I'll go with you. I can't let you go alone with her." She looked at Paige and added, "And we'll bring bodyguards."

Even with bodyguards, they feared Paige would forcibly take Xena to donate a kidney, let alone if she went alone. Margaret couldn't be at ease.

Paige nodded. "Fine, bring as many bodyguards as you want."

Amelia also breathed a sigh of relief. With no suitable kidney source, Xena was the best hope. Now that she agreed to go, it was a good thing.

Xena said, "Wait a moment, I'll change my clothes and go."

Paige replied, "Okay."

Xena closed the door again, leaning against it, looking at the message on her phone: [The medicine has been found.]
