Chapter 313 Fulfill His Wish
Amelia helped Louis into her car, and the driver in the front seat glanced at her several times.
Louis was much more drunk tonight than he had been the last time at Northern Country.
As Amelia fastened his seatbelt, he hugged her and patted her shoulder, saying, "Let's go somewhere else and keep drinking."
Amelia had a mission to complete; she couldn't just keep drinking with him.
Even tonight, while drinking, Amelia had restrained herself and barely drank, just to stay sober enough to complete her task.
Amelia coaxed Louis, "Don't move. Even if we're going somewhere else to drink, you still need to buckle up."
Saying this, Amelia fastened the seatbelt. Just as she was about to pull away and get in from the other side, Louis suddenly hugged her tightly.
Like a child, he held her and his voice became much huskier, "Why? Why do people say they love me, but I can't feel anyone's love? Do they really love me? Do they? Is it that I'm not worthy of love, is that it?"
Amelia suddenly froze, feeling a warm, moist sensation on her neck.
At this moment, Louis was holding her, his head buried in her neck.
Was he crying?
His voice did have a bit of a sobbing tone, was he really crying?
But he was Louis, the most formidable among the second-generation rich kids.
He didn't even have the privileged background to start learning from a young age; instead, he went through hardships that others didn't.
Yet he managed to surpass many, and although he couldn't compare to Raymond, Louis was still a standout among the second-generation rich kids.
Usually, he was so imposing and majestic, how could he be crying now?
Amelia sighed helplessly, gently patting Louis's back to comfort him.
After a while, Louis either fell asleep from drunkenness or exhaustion.
His breathing gradually steadied, and Amelia laid him down with his head resting on the car seat.
Looking at Louis in her car, Amelia couldn't bear it.
She closed the car door and dialed Paige's number.
Even though it was late at night, Paige answered Amelia's call immediately.
Paige was well aware of Amelia's plan, spending several days in nightclubs and clubs to lower Louis's guard and achieve her goal.
Paige asked, "So, did it work?"
Amelia, feeling a bit conflicted, spoke into the night wind, "Ms. Ellison, Louis is drunk and in my car right now. He seems to be emotionally breaking down. He's been busy with work for days and only came here to drink tonight. I got him drunk with a group of friends."
Paige, understanding most of it from Amelia's tone, said, "Just get to the point."
Amelia took a deep breath and asked, "Is it a bit unethical to take a drunk Louis directly to Dr. Ashton's lab? I was thinking, maybe I could wait until Louis sobers up, and then..."
Amelia found it hard to say; she felt a bit reluctant.
She could have taken Louis directly to Locas's lab, and Paige could get whatever results she wanted.
But Amelia felt it wasn't right.
Once Louis sobered up, he might never be friends with her again.
While Amelia was still hesitating, Paige suddenly agreed, "Alright, do as you think best. Since he's drunk, take him home. Just a friendly reminder, he's probably staying with Francesca recently. Good luck!"
Amelia was surprised. She hadn't even finished speaking, and she thought Paige would definitely reject her suggestion, but Paige agreed without waiting for her to finish.
Amelia didn't have time to feel touched by Paige's trust. Paige's friendly reminder almost made her drop her phone.
Louis was indeed one of the most filial children in their circle.
His father passed away early, and he was kidnapped and separated from Francesca. After returning, although he had his own villa, he would spend some time each month living in his parents' house with Francesca.
Even Paige didn't know much about Francesca, and Amelia was even more uncertain.
Not knowing made her a bit scared.
With the current tense situation, if Amelia took a drunk Louis back and didn't encounter Francesca, it would be fine. But if she did, it would be a disaster.
Amelia thanked Paige for the reminder and hung up the phone. Looking at Louis in her car, she scratched her head frantically, messing up her hair.
The driver, pretending not to have seen Louis hugging Amelia earlier, calmly asked, "Ms. Smith, where to?"
Amelia said, "Hotel."
The driver looked at Amelia with a curious expression, then immediately responded, "Alright, Ms. Smith, please buckle up."
When Paige answered the call, Raymond was standing next to her. The night was so quiet, and the conversation was loud enough that Raymond heard most of it.
He was curious, "Why do you give up such a good opportunity?"
Paige shrugged, "It's a good opportunity for me, but not for Amelia. Do you remember when Amelia drugged Louis before?"
Raymond was there at the time.
So Raymond nodded, "I remember."
Paige smiled faintly, "If Amelia had no interest in Louis at all, even if the drugging succeeded, she would have a hard time taking the next step. So, if she was prepared for the final step, and I asked her to take Louis to Locas's lab tonight, if Louis resented Amelia after waking up, they might not even be friends anymore."
Paige had almost immediately agreed to Amelia's unfinished request, considering Amelia's feelings.
Raymond understood, "You mean, Amelia really has feelings for Louis?"
Paige replied, "Whatever her current feelings for Louis are, let it be. Amelia is very considerate, and I want to see her get the happiness she wants."
Raymond nodded, pondering Paige's words, and looked at her with a much gentler expression.
The strong, decisive Ms. Ellison, who was so formidable in the outside world, seemed to protect everyone around her with care.
Even a friend Amelia had just met, she disrupted her own plans to help.
Raymond asked, "So, what about Louis?"
