Chapter 255 How Dare She Come to Me?
Francesca glanced at Louis, then turned back to Ethan. She saw that Ethan was totally clueless, so she nodded. "Dad, don't worry, I got this."
Ethan replied, "Alright, then hurry up. I'll head back to the Carnegie Manor first." Ethan took off first. Francesca and Louis hopped back in the car and continued towards the funeral home.
Outside the funeral home, a black Bentley had been parked for ages. Inside, Margaret was hesitating, unable to bring herself to get out. She just didn't have the guts to say goodbye to Luna, who she'd treated so coldly before. Plus, Paige always said she didn't want to see her.
Caleb was sitting in the car with her, feeling super anxious. He hadn't been able to reach Elijah since last night. He'd wanted Elijah to gather some intel, but now he had to send someone to find out where Elijah was.
Still, Caleb wasn't too worried. Elijah loved partying with his Northwind crew and often stayed out all night drinking. Usually, if he partied too hard, he'd sleep until the afternoon.
Since it was already morning, Caleb had been sending people to look for Elijah. With such a big event happening, Elijah should at least show up.
Paige, as the CEO of Universe Group, didn't acknowledge Margaret. As an elder, it wasn't right for Caleb to try to please Paige. But Elijah was different. He was around the same age as Paige. Even if Paige didn't acknowledge the Trump family, if Elijah showed some goodwill, Paige won't drive him away. There was no deep-seated hatred between Paige and Elijah. But Elijah was MIA at this crucial moment, making Caleb super anxious.
Margaret kept the car window open, just staring inside. She didn't dare get too close, but she didn't want to be too far away either. Inside, Julian's people reported the situation with Margaret's car outside. After hearing that, Julian went to inform Pearl. Pearl thought for a moment and decided to tell Paige.
By this time, not many people were coming in. Pearl stood a step behind Paige and said quietly, "The Sackler family's Bentley has been tailing us since we got to the funeral home this morning. Now it seems Mrs. Sackler is in the car parked outside. I also heard that she was waiting for news outside the emergency room last night."
After Pearl finished speaking, Paige only asked, "What is she waiting for?"
Pearl realized Paige was asking about last night and said, "I heard they were asking about Ms. Parker's condition."
Paige got it. "I see. I think my mom wouldn't want to see her. Tell her if she's not feeling well, she doesn't need to wait outside. The grudge between her and my mom will never be resolved in this lifetime."
Luna had already passed away, leaving no chance for Margaret to be forgiven. Margaret didn't need to think about making amends to Luna anymore; it was too late. Even if she tried, there would be no forgiveness.
Pearl nodded slightly and walked out. Seeing Pearl coming her way, Margaret got out and waited. Pearl kept it polite. "Mrs. Sackler."
Margaret nodded slightly. "Ms. Southern, how's Paige holding up?" Margaret was most concerned about this. Paige was only focused on Luna, who had suddenly passed away. Paige's mood must be a wreck.
Pearl was a bit surprised. It was rare for Margaret to show such concern for Paige's condition first. Pearl answered honestly, "Ms. Ellison is not doing well. But she heard you were here and asked me to pass a message."
Margaret wanted to go inside. When Luna was alive, she might not have felt so strongly. Now, with Luna's passing, she felt a complete loss of Noah.
Noah had died young. Although Margaret and Luna didn't have much of a relationship, Luna still carried some memories of Noah. Now, there was one less person in the world who remembered Noah. Margaret immediately asked Pearl, "What did Paige ask you to say?"
Pearl replied, "Ms. Ellison said that Ms. Parker probably wouldn't want to see you. Since you haven't fully recovered, you don't need to wait outside. The grudge between you two will never be resolved."
Hearing this, Margaret felt very sad. Her eyes instantly filled with tears, and she nodded, saying, "Yes, Luna was supposed to have surgery today, but now there's no chance. She's gone, and I have no chance to make amends. The mistakes I made brought her to this point. Paige will probably never forgive me in this lifetime."
As Margaret was speaking, Pearl saw a familiar car approaching. As the car got closer, Pearl immediately recognized it as Francesca's.
Remembering what Francesca did yesterday, Pearl quickly said to Margaret, "Mrs. Sackler, I have urgent matters to attend to, so I won't be able to see you off."
With that, Pearl turned and left. Francesca's car had already pulled up in front of her. Margaret, still lost in her sorrow, also saw the car. It looked very familiar. "Isn't that Francesca's car?"
Caleb said, "It looks like it."
"Is what you heard true? Did Francesca really take Louis away last night? Did she go to the hospital to see Luna?"
Caleb replied, "It seems so. I don't know what Francesca said, but that's what happened."
Caleb had gathered some information but not everything. Because Amelia had instructed the hospital to keep this matter strictly confidential. So, Margaret didn't know that Luna had died from poisoning.
As Francesca's car entered, Julian's people immediately stopped it. After what happened last night, Francesca was almost blacklisted by Julian. Pearl quickly ran to Paige and reported, "Ms. Ellison, Francesca is here. Julian has stopped her."
As Pearl finished speaking, Paige's eyebrows furrowed. Paige seemed to regain her lost soul in an instant. She had been in pain just moments ago, but now she was very angry.
Paige said in a low voice, "How dare she come to me?" She had planned to deal with Francesca after Luna was buried. But now, Francesca had come on her own!
