Chapter 310 Could They Be Long-Lost Siblings?

Paige asked a flat "Good morning," which made Francesca break out in a cold sweat.

But her eyes couldn't help but drift towards Paige. She wasn't wearing makeup, and the slight dark circles under her eyes betrayed the fact that she hadn't slept well the night before.

Although Francesca wasn't in good shape either, she had gotten up quite early in the morning, put on makeup, and specifically covered the dark and puffy areas under her eyes.

So she didn't look as bad.

At least she looked much better than Paige.

However, Paige's greeting made Francesca's expression visibly darken.

Francesca hadn't intended to come here for breakfast this morning. Since they weren't staying at a hotel, there was no room service. So Francesca had no choice but to come out for breakfast, and she was well aware that they hadn't come to the border through legitimate channels.

So, even if she could avoid meeting at breakfast, they would still have to meet later.

Francesca had a strong mental fortitude. Since they had to meet sooner or later, she might as well face it calmly, even though it was still difficult.

But she could get through it.

Adjusting her mindset and emotions, Francesca forced a smile.

Paige's mind echoed Raymond's words that Francesca has a strong mental fortitude.

Indeed, with such mental strength, Paige couldn't help but admire her.

However, Paige found it hard to understand. Given Francesca's background, she shouldn't have such strong mental fortitude.

Is this the mental fortitude of an ordinary person?

So, what exactly had Francesca gone through to develop such strong mental fortitude?

Paige thought she really needed to look into Francesca's background and experiences.

Seeing Francesca's smile was really an eyesore for Paige.

Pearl, being very clever, noticed Paige's displeasure and Francesca's feigned composure. She walked straight up.

"Mr. Carnegie, how much did you and Amelia drink last night? She was dancing around when she got back. Did you guys empty the wine cellar?"

Hearing this, Francesca immediately gave a wary glance at Louis.

Last night, he drank with Amelia?

What did they talk about?

Francesca's mind was quickly processing this information.

Paige also looked at Amelia in surprise. She had forgotten that Amelia was extremely intelligent.

Usually very low-key, but at critical moments, she was absolutely reliable.

Since that time Amelia drugged Louis, there had been little proactive contact between them.

Suddenly drinking with Louis, Paige couldn't believe she had no ulterior motive!

Louis had drunk quite a bit last night and was still hungover this morning.

After Amelia returned to her room, Pearl took care of her. When she woke up in the middle of the night, Pearl gave her some hangover medicine, so Amelia was fine in the morning.

Louis, on the other hand, felt much worse.

His mind was a bit sluggish, so he didn't want to think too much.

He responded casually, "I don't remember, probably quite a bit."

Louis then walked towards the dining table.

Francesca's smile faltered, and she quickly followed him.

Paige gave Amelia and Pearl a nod of approval.

After sitting down next to Louis, Francesca lowered her voice and said, "Why did you drink with her? What did you talk about?"

Louis glanced briefly at Paige before lowering his voice to reply, "Mom, what could happen from just having a drink with Amelia?"

Francesca was still paying attention to Paige's movements. Seeing her walk over, she didn't continue talking to Louis.

After all, it wouldn't be good if they were overheard.

Breakfast was relatively uneventful. Paige didn't cause any trouble, and Francesca focused on eating, trying to minimize her presence.

After all, the relationship between the two sides was very tense now. Maintaining peace was much more difficult than before.

After breakfast, Francesca immediately returned to her room. Before leaving, she deliberately called Louis to go with her. Francesca's only concern was that Louis wasn't in great shape, and if he accidentally said something, she would have to fix it again.

Although Paige didn't seem to be pursuing the matter, Francesca knew very well that Paige would never let go of the investigation so easily.

If it were something else, Paige might give up the investigation because she was busy with the Universe Group's affairs.

But as long as it involved Luna, Paige would never let it go.

This was the experience Francesca had gathered from her many interactions with Paige.

She could still maintain a bit of composure when facing Raymond, but when it came to Luna, Paige couldn't stay calm at all.

But it was precisely because of this that Francesca felt even more heartbroken.

Seeing Francesca quickly pull Louis away, Paige couldn't help but feel a surge of anger.

How dare she hide?

However, at the moment, Paige really had no good way to make Francesca tell the truth and get more information.

She looked at Amelia, "Did you get anything last night?"

Amelia rubbed her head, "Sure!"

Paige continued to look at Amelia.

Amelia said, "I really underestimated Louis's drinking capacity. He can really drink."

Paige frowned, "The family that kidnapped him to the countryside made wine. For those years, Louis had to help out at that small winery every day. To him, wine is like water."

Paige was in a bad mood last night and didn't expect Amelia to bring wine to drink with Louis.

If she had known earlier, she would have warned Amelia.

Amelia's eyes widened. "Oh my God, no wonder. We drank over a dozen bottles, and he drank most of them. My head was about to explode. Luckily, we mixed in a few bottles of whiskey at the end, otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to handle him."

Amelia said, feeling her head hurt even more.

"Louis hid it too well, didn't he? All these years, at so many parties and gatherings, he never exposed it."

Paige didn't interrupt Amelia, but Pearl couldn't wait and said, "Get to the point, what did Louis say last night?"

Amelia responded, "Right, Ms. Ellison, Louis seems to suspect that he isn't Mrs. Carnegie's son."

"Could it be that Louis isn't part of the Carnegie family lineage? Or was there a mistake after the kidnapping? Did they find the wrong person?

Last night while drinking, Louis said he had asked Francesca about it, but she didn't react at all, which isn't normal.

From what Louis said, Francesca knows what he's suspecting, but she doesn't plan to say anything.

Combining this with what Xena said...Amelia started to speculate boldly. Suddenly, she covered her mouth and looked at Paige with curious eyes.

Paige said, "If you have something to say, just say it."

Amelia uttered, "Could it be that you and Louis are long-lost siblings? Otherwise, why would Francesca secretly take Mrs. Parker's hair?"

Paige's face darkened upon hearing this.

That's absurd! She and Louis, siblings? They were the same age, so if they were siblings, wouldn't they be twins?

Do she and Louis look like twins? Obviously not.

Besides, everyone knows Luna's first child was a daughter.

If there really was a son, would Margaret let him be lost and left behind?

It was only because she and Xena were both girls that one of them got lost.

Pearl quickly pulled Amelia and reminded her, "Don't talk nonsense, they don't even look alike."

Amelia smiled awkwardly, "Right, they don't look alike!"

Paige: "Let's pack up. This trip shouldn't last too long. We'll head back to Northwind this afternoon."

The information Amelia got from Louis wasn't entirely useless.

At least it let Paige know that Louis was also suspicious.

Since someone shared her goal, things would be much easier.

They had done what needed to be done, and staying here would only cause more trouble for Quentin. Most importantly, although Quentin was powerful, many other forces were eyeing him.

In this already unsafe area, Paige's people were limited, and she didn't want to cause Quentin any more trouble.

Although Quentin invited Paige to stay a few more days when he heard she was going back to Northwind, Paige still refused.

She needed to return to Northwind to do something.

Something very important.

In the afternoon, Francesca and Louis had packed their things and set off with Paige to return.

But when they arrived at the airport, Paige's private jet was already there.

Besides Paige's plane, Francesca had also called the Carnegie family's private jet.

On the way here, they all sat in first class together.

But on the return trip, Paige and Francesca's intentions were clearly displayed on the tarmac of this small border town's airport!
