Chapter 161 Watch her Eat her Words

After waking up from a five-year coma, her body was all kinds of messed up. She was always freaked out and panicky.

She didn't trust the doctors or nurses one bit, feeling super insecure.

So, Paige was scared that if she bailed for too long, she wouldn't be able to handle it.

Paige got up and bounced, leaving Francesca sitting there solo. After a bit, Francesca let out this cold laugh.

She knew Paige was sharp, but she didn't think she was *this* sharp.

She was worried that Louis and Paige, having been through hell together, still had a thing for each other. Knowing Louis always had a soft spot for Paige, she feared that if Paige and Raymond split, Louis would do anything to get with her. If they hooked up, it would be a total joke.

But during their chat, Paige gave her an answer that made her super happy.

Even though Paige swore there was nothing between her and Louis, Francesca might still find it hard to buy.

But Paige held grudges. She went to prison partly because of Louis and even wanted payback. This convinced Francesca that there'd be no link between Paige and Louis. Given her and Louis's current status, they weren't scared of Paige's revenge.

Francesca laughed to herself, a confident glint in her eye. Then, she rose, paid the bill, and dipped.

Paige was really no-nonsense. She invited her for coffee, came and went as she pleased, and left the bill for her to cover.

After leaving the café and getting back to her car, Francesca immediately called Louis.

When the call connected, Francesca said sternly, "Louis, I'm telling you, even if Paige and Raymond split, you ain't got a shot. Remember, Paige did five years in the slammer, and you had a big hand in that. She said she'd get back at you. Watch your back!"

Louis knew that Francesca would try to kill any hope Paige had for him after the split.

But Louis gave a bitter smile over the phone.

Did he really need Francesca to spell that out for him?

He had known Paige for years, long enough to know that she always repaid kindness with loyalty and wrongs with justice.

He knew full well that after making her do time, even if Paige got divorced, there'd be nothing between them.

Francesca was stressing too much, and Paige and Raymond's split didn't seem to be just up to Paige; Raymond's stance was key too.

During the meal at the hotel, Raymond's jerk attitude made Louis realize he probably didn't want a divorce.

Although Louis hadn't figured out who the woman Raymond brought to Windrain Tower was, he knew that last night, the woman went back to her own room.

They weren't together at all. The reason he said what he did in front of Paige was 'cause he couldn't stand seeing Paige and Raymond together.

On the other end of the line, Francesca was still giving Louis an earful.

Louis, not wanting to hear it anymore, said lightly, "Mom, you heard her. She'll get back at me. You don't need to stress anymore, and please stop bugging her, okay?"

Louis knew very well that Francesca had some tricks up her sleeve. He didn't want Francesca to keep bugging Paige and causing her grief.

Hearing Louis stick up for Paige, Francesca angrily hung up the phone.

"Absolutely useless."

After saying that, Francesca told the driver to hit the gas.

Meanwhile, Paige floored it and sped home. Luna had already taken her meds and crashed.

After checking on her and making sure she was good, Paige went upstairs.

Pearl followed behind Paige. "Xanthe, Xena called again."

Paige asked, "Did you pick up?"

Pearl nodded. "Yeah, after a bunch of calls, I answered. She said she booked a table of top-notch grub at the hotel and hoped you'd come."

Paige suddenly smiled, thinking of how Xena had humiliated her at the hotel earlier. Paige couldn't help but want to vent.

"We met today, right at that hotel. She heard I was getting a divorce from Raymond and rushed over to humiliate me. She thinks she can bully me as she pleases just becauseif I divorce Raymond. Funny, right?"

Pearl thought Xena was incredibly foolish and always doing such stupid things.

But Pearl quickly reacted, "What? Xanthe, divorce? You can't be serious. Are you divorcing Mr. Carnegie? This is so sudden. I wasn't prepared at all."

Pearl was suddenly flustered. Xanthe getting a divorce wasn't just her own business.

If she divorced, it would involve complex and troublesome property division issues.

A rich person's divorce was as difficult as a level ten-project!

And a divorce between two super-rich individuals was a disaster for their subordinates.

Pearl was in a state of panic, especially since she had seen Xanthe and Raymond getting along quite well recently.

How could they suddenly be talking about divorce?

Xanthe had mentioned divorce before, but it always seemed like a joke.

Today, her attitude was completely serious!

Pearl was genuinely panicking.

Sure enough, Paige's next words answered Pearl's doubts, "Yes, I'm planning to divorce, but you don't need to worry. Raymond and I don't have any property to divide. So there's not much for you to do. Just go through the legal process."

Pearl stated, "No. Are you sure you don't want to reconsider? Mr. Carnegie is actually a decent person. You two together are a powerful combination. And, most importantly, Xanthe, the thing you want most, Mr. Carnegie, has the clues. If you don't divorce, everything Mr. Carnegie has is yours. But if you divorce, the situation will be different."

Pearl's mind was clear; she was still thinking about the clues at this moment.

Paige said, "You're quite smart, thinking of using my marriage as a bargaining chip for clues."

Pearl was torn. "Of course, I still hope for your marital happiness. Mr. Carnegie is actually quite good. If you really get divorced, finding someone better than Mr. Carnegie would be a matter of luck."

Raymond was indeed excellent, perfect in every aspect.

Whether it was his background, wealth, or other aspects, especially his looks, he was absolutely advantageous.

There were many men with noble and wealthy backgrounds, but not many could be better looking than Raymond.

After all, Raymond had always been seen as a decoration in Paige's heart.

"You're rational, but I've made up my mind. Just follow my decision."

When Paige said this, there was no turning back.

Pearl naturally listened to Paige.

"Xanthe, really, it's such a pity."

Paige didn't feel any regret or nostalgia. "I'll leave the legal process to you and Kimberly."

Kimberly was familiar with the law, so handling the divorce process was naturally best left to him.

Paige changed the subject and asked, "By the way, how's my mom doing since I left today?"

Pearl nodded. "Luna was quite good. She ate her meal, took her medicine, and the newly hired rehabilitation therapist did some simple exercises with her. She seemed tired and then went to sleep."

Paige nodded. "As long as she's okay."

Pearl asked, "Xanthe, you haven't said whether you're going to Xena's banquet."

Paige smiled again. "Actually, I really want to go. After all, she just humiliated me. I can't wait to stand in front of her as Xanthe Ellison, CEO of the Universe Group, and and watch her eat her words. But Pearl, if I reveal my identity like this, isn't it a bit too hasty?"

Pearl found Paige's actions amusing. When it came to playing tricks, Xanthe was a master!

"Xanthe, when do you plan to see her? Do you need me to arrange anything? Just let me know; I want to witness it firsthand."

Paige propped her head, seemingly still searching for the best strategy.

Pearl said, "By the way, Luna mentioned Xena's name again today. Do you want to arrange a time for them to meet? It seems Luna really wants to see her."

Blood was thicker than water, so it was normal for them to meet.

But Paige felt something was off, so she kept delaying it.
