Chapter 252 Will Francesca Be Safe and Sound?
After all, Francesca did it all for Louis. Paige was struggling to stay positive and couldn't speak for a while. Louis stepped up to mourn Luna.
Raymond, as a family member, reluctantly thanked Louis and then sternly said, "Come with me."
Paige was barely holding it together in front of Louis, but Raymond needed to talk to him before Francesca showed up. He had to find out what was going on.
Louis had never followed Raymond's orders so obediently before. "What happened last night?" Raymond asked bluntly, lighting a cigarette with a hint of frustration.
Louis had never seen Raymond smoke before. He knew Luna's death had hit Paige hard, and Raymond, being by her side, felt it deeply too.
"I don't know," Louis said. "Someone in a mask and white coat, like a doctor, came to give me medicine. They knocked me out when I let my guard down. When I woke up, it was morning, and I realized I missed the surgery. My phone was gone, so I had to borrow one to make calls." Louis's phone was actually left in the hospital room and was now with Amelia.
"The hospital's surveillance was destroyed. Francesca brought in outsiders, knocked out all the bodyguards and medical staff around Luna's room, and then went to see her. Luna died of poisoning, and Francesca is heavily involved," Raymond explained.
This was news to Louis. He had guessed Francesca drugged and took him away, causing him to miss the surgery, but he didn't think Luna's death was connected to her.
"No surveillance? Could someone else have gone to her room?" Louis asked, still not believing Francesca could be that ruthless.
Raymond replied, "Seems like you know nothing. The memorial's over, so go home. Don't show up in front of Paige."
Raymond didn't know how long Paige could hold out before breaking down, and since Louis was clueless, it was best to keep him out of it to avoid complicating things.
Louis was at a loss for words but couldn't help asking, "Is my mom the prime suspect now?"
"Basically, she is," Raymond said.
Louis took a deep breath. "What does Paige plan to do?"
Raymond didn't answer and just walked away, leaving Louis stunned.
Back with Paige, Raymond saw her standing there like a lifeless statue, her eyes empty. He gently put his arm around her shoulder, trying to share her burden and comfort her. "Louis knows nothing. Francesca left him a way out. I told him to go home and stay away from you."
Paige just nodded, thinking Louis really didn't know anything. The surveillance footage showed him getting knocked out and taken away.
Amelia came out and saw Louis still standing there. She handed him his phone. "Mr. Carnegie, here's your phone."
Louis snapped out of it and saw Amelia holding his phone. "Why do you have my phone?"
Amelia explained, "You left it at the hospital. Last night, after Ms. Ellison had dinner, she planned to check on you but found nothing. She called you and found your phone in the room.''
''She looked everywhere for you but couldn't find you. I had security check the surveillance and saw you being taken away. Ms. Ellison was worried something had happened to you, so she rushed out to find you.
''Actually, Ms. Ellison had already guessed that Francesca might have taken you since she didn't support you donating your kidney to Ms. Parker. So, the first place Ms. Ellison went was your family villa, and then the Carnegie Manor. It was during this time that something happened.''
''Since Ms. Ellison left, I was guarding the room. When Francesca came, she had her people gag me and tie me up, keeping me in your room. Her people watched over me while she went out. She went to Ms. Parker's room, where all the bodyguards and medical staff were knocked out. When Ms. Ellison rushed back, I was released. When I got to Ms. Parker's room, the doctors were already trying to resuscitate her.''
''It was only after seeing Ms. Parker that I realized she wasn't having a relapse but was poisoned. Mr. Carnegie, after your mom left, Ms. Parker was poisoned. The whole resuscitation process took nearly two hours. When you were praying earlier, the way Ms. Parker's body looked was arranged by Ms. Ellison herself.''
''All of us went into the resuscitation room after the doctors declared Luna's death last night and saw Ms. Parker's painful departure. From last night until now, Ms. Ellison hasn't closed her eyes. She's in unbearable pain, like she's lost her soul.''
''Until now, she hasn't said a word about investigating or anything, but she said she would personally take revenge. Mr. Carnegie, if possible, could you personally ask Francesca what happened?''
''I really can't understand. Even if she didn't want you to donate your kidney to Ms. Parker, she could have just intervened and taken you away. It would have been fine delaying it. But how do we wrap this up now?"
Everyone who stayed with Paige hadn't closed their eyes since last night. But their grief was far less than Paige's. Paige was truly heartbroken, almost unable to recover.
After hearing Amelia's words, Louis finally had a rough understanding of the situation. Raymond's intention was to keep Louis out of it, so Raymond didn't tell him anything.
But Amelia, on the other hand, thought that Louis might play a buffering role in the involved relationships. After all, Francesca was his mother who did these things for him. Now, Paige definitely wouldn't let it go, even though she hadn't made any moves yet. She was too heartbroken and had to deal with Luna's funeral first.
