Chapter 271 Want Francesca's Life?
Quentin didn't even blink before agreeing to Paige's request.
"Ms. Ellison, don't worry. We'll do exactly what you asked. In two weeks, I'll bring her to you myself."
As soon as Quentin finished speaking, muffled cries from Xena echoed through the room.
Then there was a loud thud, and one of Quentin's guys barked, "Behave yourself."
Paige asked, "Why does she still dare to resist?"
Quentin replied, "Everyone's like this at first. Give it a few days, she'll know how to behave."
Paige made a sound of acknowledgment, trusting Quentin wouldn't let her down.
Paige then said, "Quentin, let me talk to her for a bit. Who knows if she'll be able to speak in two weeks."
Quentin agreed, "Alright."
After Quentin finished, Paige took a moment before speaking, "Xena, do you recognize my voice? You, a murderer, can't escape!"
Xena, clearly shocked, immediately responded, "Paige, it's you again! I'm not in Northwind anymore. What more do you want from me?"
Paige replied, "Stop pretending, Elijah spilled everything."
Paige's words left Xena stunned. Elijah had been so good to her; how could he have told Paige anything?
Xena shouted, "Even if he let me go, what difference does it make? Paige, now that you've got me, what do you want?"
Paige said, "I nearly beat Elijah to death; he's still in the hospital. By the way, he's lying on the same bed where my mom, Luna, died. Do you think that's fate? He confessed everything."
Paige's voice rose with anger, "Xena, you poisoned my mom, and I'll make sure you suffer before you die."
After Paige shouted this, Xena suddenly started laughing. "Paige, have you gone mad with grief? Your useless mom is dead. She truly died at my hands. But Paige, I have a valuable secret. Do you want to know? Do you want to know what the relationship between Francesca and your mom really was? Do you want to know why Francesca visited your mom, demanded the surveillance be turned off, and insisted on being alone with her? This world is really interesting. You know, you're just a joke, pitiful and pathetic. You all are like animals, with no sense of ethics. Do you want to know this huge secret? I can tell you."
Xena was ranting on the other end of the phone, not only admitting to killing Luna but also claiming to know a huge secret.
"Xena, nothing you say to me now matters. From the moment you killed my mom, you were a dead person. Do you think, after you killed her, I would let you live?"
Paige's words drove Xena into a frenzy.
"Paige, I've already escaped Quorinthus. Even if I fall into someone else's hands now, I will definitely escape. One day, I'll come back and reveal the secret to expose how despicable and unethical all of you truly are to the world."
Paige had already learned the truth she wanted to know and had almost lost her patience. She paid no attention to Xena's mad ravings. She only cared about Xena's fate as she wished.
The call was on speakerphone, and Paige could hear the noise clearly. She directly said, "Quentin, from now on I want to see this bitch's miserable state every day! Don't hold back; just keep her alive; everything else is up to you! We'll meet again in two weeks."
Hearing Paige speak to him, Quentin immediately took the phone away from Xena. "Ms. Ellison, rest assured!"
Paige thanked Quentin and hung up the phone.
Quentin immediately arranged for photos and videos to be sent to Paige. In the photos, Xena had lost her former radiance. Her face was marked with several bloody scars, possibly from being whipped.
If Paige didn't hate her so deeply, she might not have recognized Xena at first glance. Seeing the photos of Xena being tortured slightly alleviated Paige's grief over Luna. Paige also watched the videos, where Quentin's men showed no mercy to Xena.
After the call, Xena was immediately taken away by Quentin's men. On the way, they urged and whipped her, prompting Xena to scream in pain every second.
Xena's initial curses gradually turned into wails and pleas.
Quentin had specifically assigned people who didn't understand the language of Quorinthus. So, whether Xena was cursing or crying out in pain, they couldn't understand a word.
After the video finished, Paige rewound it and played it again. She leaned back on the couch, closed her eyes, and savored the sound of Xena's wails. For the next few days, she would relish Xena's regretful cries of pain!
It was unclear how many times Paige replayed the video when there was a knock on the door. It was Raymond. He knocked and asked, "Honey, are you okay?"
Paige opened her eyes and turned off the video. She straightened her clothes, smoothing out the wrinkles, and tried to compose herself.
She walked to the door and opened it, giving a slight smile to the worried Raymond standing outside, "I'm fine. Xena is in my hands now. For the next half month, let's focus on the urgent matters we have. Then we'll head to the border, and I will personally avenge my mom."
Raymond then understood why Paige had been on the phone for almost an hour without coming downstairs.
Raymond, understanding her feelings, reassured her, "I'll take care of my affairs swiftly and be by your side."
Paige's expression darkened slightly, and her smile faded, "Also, I want to bring Francesca along."
Raymond was taken aback when Paige mentioned bringing Francesca. He knew very well that Paige resented Francesca. After all, Francesca was an accomplice who opened the door for Xena.
Raymond wasn't sure if Paige intended to deal with Francesca together with Xena or just to teach her a lesson.
After saying this, Paige kept looking at Raymond, seemingly waiting for his response.
Raymond said, "I've never told you that Calum indeed died because of me. There have always been rumors that I killed Calum. In reality, Calum died saving me. He loved Francesca very much when he was alive. Honey, I can't defend Francesca in this matter. Mom's death is directly related to her. But if possible, could you spare her life? Philip doesn't have many relatives left."
Paige looked at Raymond, who was being very honest. If Paige wanted Francesca's life, he would advise her to think carefully.
If Paige just wanted to teach Francesca a lesson, that was a responsibility Francesca should bear, and Raymond wouldn't object.
Paige said, "I don't intend to take her life, considering Louis was genuinely willing to donate a kidney to my mom. But she was involved in harming my mom. I must make her understand the fate that awaits Xena, the one who poisoned my mother. I want her to see it with her own eyes, not missing a second!"
Francesca was Calum's widow and not someone from a prestigious family. She had been alone in the Carnegie Family for many years, and Philip treated her like a daughter.
No matter how much Paige hated her for what she did, she couldn't take her life. She wasn't a murderous maniac since Francesca's actions were unintentional.
If Francesca had colluded with Xena, Paige would find a way to take her life to avenge Luna without hesitation. But that wasn't the case, and Paige couldn't forgive her either.
Raymond breathed a slight sigh of relief, understanding Paige's intentions.
"Alright, as long as her life is guaranteed, I will support your decision."
Seeing Paige and Raymond come downstairs, Amelia came over to check on Paige. "Ms. Ellison, are you okay?"
In the past few days, although everyone around Paige tried not to mention Luna, they were all on edge and constantly attentive to Paige's emotional state.
Paige shook her head, "I'm fine. You don't need to be so tense. I just took a phone call."
Amelia smiled slightly, "It's good that you're okay. It's getting late, so we'll head home. Ms. Ellison, I'll come to work with you tomorrow."
Paige smiled, "Can you endure my boring work? Pearl won't have time to take care of you. Are you sure you want to come?"
Amelia glanced at Frederick and lowered her voice, "Ms. Ellison, please let me come with you."
Paige immediately sensed Amelia's emotions, "Did something happen?"
Amelia whispered, "I'll tell you tomorrow. Can I work with you?"
Paige nodded, "If you're okay with being bored, then come along."
