Chapter 106 Once, I Loved Him More Than Anything!
Henry went upstairs, but Grace wasn't in the bedroom.
He paused, then headed to the third floor and opened the practice room door.
As expected, Grace was there.
The violin was on the floor, and Grace was sprawled on the carpet, looking as messy as her chaotic life.
Henry's heart tightened.
He quietly walked over, knelt down, and said, "How about a trip? Anywhere you want. Didn't you always want a honeymoon? Once we're done here, let's go for a month."
Grace, stroking the violin, finally said, "I want to go to Harmony City."
Henry guessed she wanted to attend Gavin's concert tomorrow and quickly said, "I'll go with you!"
Grace didn't refuse but stayed silent. Henry couldn't read her thoughts.
That night, they shared a bed but felt miles apart.
Henry wanted to hold her, but Grace slept with her back to him, hugging herself. Feeling disappointed, he whispered, "You used to love sleeping in my arms."
Grace's eyelashes trembled. She had loved it.
When they were newlyweds, despite Henry's coldness, she often hugged him after their intimate moments, secretly calling him "honey."
Six months into their marriage, Grace found out Henry often went to Harmony City and stopped calling him that.
The next day, Henry had Celeste arrange a private jet to Harmony City.
Celeste was puzzled. "The executives are waiting for your decision on that important project, Mr. Montague. It's not a good time to leave Evergreen City."
Henry calmly replied, "Postpone the meeting for three days."
Celeste had no choice but to agree.
In the afternoon, Henry and Grace flew to Harmony City. On the plane, Grace clutched the concert ticket tightly.
At the hotel, Henry asked for a presidential suite, costing $10,000 a night.
The receptionist, surprised to see Henry's wedding ring, handed over the key. She thought it was a pity he was already married.
Henry took the key, grabbed the suitcase, and gently put his arm around Grace. "Let's go upstairs."
Grace stayed indifferent, but he didn't mind.
He told her to rest while he unpacked. He rarely did this before. After finishing, he cheerfully said, "I'll take you to a restaurant later. The food is really..."
His voice trailed off because Grace had left with the concert ticket.
Henry stood quietly for a long time, then softly finished, "The food is really good. You should like it."
At the Harmony City Music Center, the lights were dim, and the 5,000-seat venue was packed.
Grace sat in the second row, wearing a mask.
The crowd was booing, calling Gavin a fraud. They had bought tickets for the new classical music star, but she hadn't shown up, and they wanted refunds.
Grace was supposed to perform the first piece.
Gavin stood on stage, humiliated, bowing repeatedly to apologize for Grace. He never revealed her personal issues or the ridiculous reason for her absence.
Owen couldn't take it anymore. He went on stage, supporting Gavin, and said softly, "Mr. Garcia, refund their tickets! You shouldn't be taking this humiliation!"
Gavin shook his head. "Owen, it's not about the money! If I refund their tickets, Grace will be shamed in the music world forever, and so will I!"
Owen choked up, unable to speak.
Gavin pleaded with the audience, "Let me play on behalf of my student!"
The audience didn't buy it. They accused Gavin of creating a fictional character to sell tickets, saying Grace didn't exist.
"Fraud! Refund! Refund!"
"Fraud! Refund! Refund!"
"Fraud! Refund! Refund!"
As the scene got out of control, a slender figure walked onto the stage.
Gavin and Owen were stunned.
Gavin reacted first, angrily saying, "You're supposed to be resting! What are you doing here? Go back immediately! Owen, take her back to the hotel now."
Owen didn't move. He watched Grace.
Grace smiled faintly, picked up the violin, and gently caressed it. She was reluctant because it was the last time.
The audience quieted down. They saw the person who wasn't supposed to appear. Her left arm was injured and in a sling.
In the dim light, a piece of music began to play, starting joyfully, then becoming tense, and finally mournful. The venue was silent, with only the repressed sound of the violin resonating in everyone's hearts.
The emotion was so intense it was almost unbearable.
But the violin's sound was trembling, and the bandage on Grace's arm was stained with red.
Owen wanted to go over, but Gavin stopped him. Gavin said softly, "Let her finish."
As he spoke, Gavin began to cry. With the last note, the violin's sound abruptly stopped.
Grace slowly lowered her arm. After a long time, she stood in the center of the stage and choked out, "When I was young, I dreamed of playing this piece for the person I loved! At that time, I loved him more than music, more than anything. Now, my musical journey and marriage with him have both concluded due to my injured arm. But I think, in the future, I will still love people worth loving and do things I am passionate about! To love is also a kind of courage!"
After speaking, Grace bowed to the audience three times.
She said through her tears, "Thank you, Mr. Garcia. Thank you, Owen!"
The entire venue was silent.
After a moment, the audience began to stir. They called out Grace's name, calling her a fleeting firework in the classical music world. Tears filled everyone's eyes as they empathized, what could be more heartbreaking than losing a dream?
Grace walked off the stage, quickly leaving the crowd and the stage that once belonged to her. Then, she saw Henry.
Henry stood at the exit, quietly watching her, his face pale. He had heard her tell everyone that their marriage had ended.
