Chapter 613 Jacob: This Time I Really Want to Love You 4

Crimson blood trickled down Jacob's forehead, gathering along the bridge of his nose before dripping onto the car hood in steady, rhythmic drops.

The world seemed suspended in time.

Only the sound of Jacob's blood hitting metal broke the silence.

His elegant hands pressed against the hood as he struggled to push himself upright, but his strength had abandoned him. In the end, he could only blink slowly, his gaze finding Serafina and Abigail—they filled his pupils, his vision, his entire world.

Serafina spun around to see Jacob collapsed in a pool of blood. Her pupils dilated in shock, her throat constricting until no sound could escape—she couldn't even speak his name. For what felt like an eternity, she could only stand there, locked in his gaze.

Each blink of Jacob's eyes stretched endlessly. Every step she took toward him felt like moving through quicksand.

Her voice was hoarse, reduced to a faint murmur by the weight of her sorrow. "Jacob, you can't die. I haven't forgiven you yet. Our daughter is only a hundred days old. We haven't watched her grow up. We haven't seen her reach every milestone. We haven't found our way back to each other."

Finally, Serafina reached his side.

Clutching Abigail against her chest, she gently shook Jacob's shoulder while screaming to the gathering crowd: "Someone call 911! Please, somebody call an ambulance!"

A bystander immediately dialed while others tried to comfort her.

Serafina held Abigail tighter, calling Jacob's name over and over, begging him to hold on, forbidding him to close his eyes.

"The ambulance is coming! Jacob, don't you dare fall asleep! Stay with me!"

Jacob's body convulsed slightly. His head spun, and pain wracked every inch of his frame.

Something inside him had ruptured.

The agony was overwhelming.

But Serafina was crying—he hadn't seen her tears in so long.

These tears were for him.

Jacob struggled to lift his hand toward her face, but his strength failed him. A bitter smile ghosted across his lips.

'Serafina, don't cry. I can't bear to see your tears.' Desperate cries rang in his mind, but his body was too broken to let even a whisper escape.

But Serafina's tears fell like scattered pearls, landing on his face one by one. She gripped his hand with fierce desperation, her warmth becoming his final anchor to life.

Inside the car, Chloe trembled uncontrollably.

She couldn't process what had just happened. She'd only meant to hit Serafina—why had Jacob taken the impact instead? Why would he save her? Businessmen like him were supposed to be ruthlessly self-serving. Why would he sacrifice his life for a woman?

She refused to believe it. This couldn't be happening.

This had to be some terrible mistake.

Chloe's body went limp, all strength draining from her limbs. Within minutes, police officers yanked open her car door and restrained her, charging her with attempted murder before hauling her away. Paramedics rushed to load Jacob into the ambulance.

After a preliminary examination, the doctor diagnosed a ruptured spleen requiring immediate emergency surgery.

Serafina stood frozen in shock.

Ten minutes later, Jacob was wheeled into the operating room.

Serafina sat outside the surgical doors, Abigail still in her arms, her entire body shaking. She immediately called Oliver and Sarah—Jacob was the Windsor family's eldest son and CEO of the Windsor Group.

By the time Oliver and Sarah arrived, news of Jacob being struck by his ex-fiancée had exploded across social media. Damaging rumors spread like wildfire until Avery stepped in as acting CEO to stabilize the Windsor Group's stock price.

Two hours later, Oliver and Sarah rushed into the hospital.

Serafina remained stationed outside the operating room.

She'd been holding Abigail so long her arms had gone numb, but she couldn't feel anything beyond the fear. Her eyes stayed fixed on the surgical doors, refusing to look away until the Windsor family arrived. Sarah, with a woman's intuition, immediately took Abigail from her arms while Elliot tried to guide Serafina to a chair.

Serafina refused to sit. "The doctor said his spleen ruptured," she whispered. "They have to remove it."

The Windsor family stood in stunned silence.

After a long moment, Oliver spoke, his voice thick with suppressed emotion, "That won't threaten his life. As long as he's alive, that's all that matters. Jacob will walk out of that operating room—he's young and strong. He loves Abigail too much to leave us. He wouldn't dare die on us."

Sarah finally broke down in tears.

Her crying triggered Serafina's own collapse. All pretense of composure crumbled as she finally admitted the truth—she cared about Jacob. She'd never stopped loving him, through all the good times and bad. He consumed her thoughts completely.

Jacob—the only man who had ever truly mattered in her life.
