Chapter 410 Announcing Sarah's Noble Status 1
When Sarah returned home, Claire was bouncing up and down with excitement.
She couldn't contain herself. "How did Mr. Moore turn out to be your real father? He's such a big deal in Evergreen City!"
She picked up Jacob and gave him a big kiss.
Claire continued, "Now that Jacob has a grandpa, no one will dare to mess with you guys anymore! If anyone tries to mess with our Jacob, we'll have his grandpa peel their skin off and see if they still dare!"
Claire was overjoyed.
Then she remembered something and pretended to scold Sarah. "They came all the way here! But you didn't even offer them a drink. You can't do that next time."
Sarah sat in a chair, looking a bit lost. She still hadn't fully processed everything.
Claire continued to play happily with Jacob.
A week later, the Moore family called, inviting Sarah and the kids over for dinner to discuss the upcoming family reunion.
Isabella was sincere. "Don't worry about stealing my thunder. I have a birthday every year. But Sarah, you are the only cherished daughter to your Dad. Everything else can wait!"
"The preparations are already underway!" she added. "He is taking this very seriously. He's personally overseeing many details, which is unheard of. He's always been too busy with work to bother with household matters."
Sarah wasn't ungrateful.
Besides, she liked Isabella and Nicholas, and she had always respected Matthew. So she couldn't refuse such a warm invitation.
After hanging up, she thought of Dylan.
The night before, she had gone to his villa.
She had cooked a few homemade dishes, and the two of them sat in silence, eating together.
As she was leaving, Dylan stopped her.
He looked at her intently and spoke softly. "Sarah, let go of the past. Forgetting it will make your life easier."
Sarah stood in the doorway, looking back at him.
There were tears in her eyes.
After a moment, she smiled faintly. "I understand, Dylan."
Then she walked out.
Dylan stood behind her, watching as she crossed the foyer and stepped into the wider world. For a split second, he saw the five-year-old girl she once was—and in that instant, it was as if her whole life had telescoped into a single transformation.
Claire insisted that they couldn't show up empty-handed, especially not for a grand event.
Sarah, always dignified, took the time to buy a dress and jewelry for herself. She also went shopping for gifts for the Moore family. She got Matthew a fine set of pens, Isabella a custom wool shawl, Nicholas a rare book collection, and for Vaughn, whom she hadn't met yet, a decorative piece.
With the gifts bought, Sarah decided to browse a bit more.
Kids grow fast, Jacob and Nicole needed new clothes every month. Sarah loved shopping for them, watching them grow up safe and sound.
She didn't expect to run into Oliver there.
Oliver was with Zoey.
They had just come from a business lunch and decided to shop for gifts for the Moore family. He didn't expect to see Sarah.
Zoey made an excuse and left.
The atmosphere was tense.
Oliver glanced at the bags in her hand. "Are those for the Moore family?"
Sarah didn't deny it. "I'm visiting them tomorrow."
"Visiting?" Oliver's tone was mocking. "Sarah, I thought you had grown up! But you're still dreaming! Sure, Nicholas might like you a bit, but do you really think the Moore family will accept a divorced woman with kids, who's three years older than Nicholas?"
"You're dreaming!" he spat out the words.
Sarah didn't explain. She just smiled faintly. "Oliver, there's no need to be so harsh. Nicholas and I had a misunderstanding in the past, but now we're clean. Unlike you, spreading your hormones everywhere. Your lovers are countless."
Oliver seized on one word. "Nicholas?"
He laughed coldly. "What kind of relationship do you have that you call him Nicholas? You're trying to please the Moore family, but do they really care about you? Did they send you an invitation to the party? If you want to attend, you'll have to go as Mrs. Windsor."
Sarah lowered her eyes. She murmured softly, as if to herself. "In your eyes, I'm just a vain woman, clinging to the rich despite being married, right?"
She didn't want to say more and turned to leave.
"Sarah!" Oliver took a few quick steps and grabbed her wrist.
His voice softened. "If you like hanging out with Mrs. Moore, I can take you to the party. Sarah, come back to me. I'll do anything for you! I won't even mind your past with Nicholas!"
Sarah gently pulled her hand away. She smiled faintly. "Thanks for your generosity! But I don't need it."
He was sure she would regret it.
She was destined to fail!
The Moore family, with their status, would never accept a divorced woman.
Oliver stared at her, his gaze intense. "You probably don't know, Matthew found his biological daughter! When that happens, the Moore family'll forget all about you. Sarah, associating with them is just humiliating yourself! Only I can give you power and status."
Sarah shook him off forcefully.
This encounter didn't affect her mood.
The next day, she took Claire and the kids to the Moore Mansion.
When the car stopped, Vaughn personally opened the door for her. They hadn't met before, but they were family, and Vaughn, being 20 years older, immediately felt a brotherly affection for her.
He said, "Isabella talks about you all the time. It's great to finally meet you!"
Sarah paused and called him Vaughn.
Vaughn was touched but hid it, saying cheerfully, "Dad's in the study. Let's go see him first."
Isabella greeted them with a smile. She took turns holding the kids and even gave Claire a gift.
As they walked, Claire admired the luxurious Moore Mansion, feeling happy for Sarah. She had finally found her good fortune.
In the study, the air was fragrant. Matthew had been reading a document for a while.
Nicholas was sitting on the couch, reading. He smiled faintly. "If you're so eager, why not greet them at the door?"
Matthew pretended to be indifferent. "Who's eager? It's not like I haven't seen her before!"
He glared at Nicholas. "That couch was meant for Sarah. You've worn it out. If she sits there and feels uncomfortable, she'll think we're struggling."
Nicholas shifted slightly. He smiled silently.
Just then, there was a commotion outside. Isabella was leading the group in.
Isabella's voice was cheerful. "I brought the kids to see you. If you like them, you can give them a gift."
She taught the kids to call him grandpa.
Jacob called out sweetly. "Grandpa!"
Matthew stepped away from his desk, picked up Jacob, kissed his cheek, and gave him a gift.
Nicole couldn't speak yet.
But Matthew didn't play favorites. He held her too and gave her a gift.
Finally, Sarah stepped forward.
She looked at the imposing older man, still feeling a bit unfamiliar, but his gaze held a fatherly warmth.
She spoke, her voice choked. "Dad."
Matthew's gaze was deep.
Vaughn remained silent, while Isabella wiped away tears.
After a moment, Matthew patted her head.
He returned to his desk, opened a drawer, and took out several property deeds and a bankbook.
He placed them in Sarah's hands. "The Moore family has some modest assets from our ancestors' business. Vaughn has managed them well. These are a token from us, for Jacob or for Nicole."
The several villas worthed millions.
The bankbook held a staggering amount.
Sarah felt it was too much, but Vaughn spoke up. "Dad gave them to you. Take them! Isabella will also leave you something. Even though you're older than Nicholas, your status in the family is the same!"
He smiled. "You're both my Dad's most cherished."
Matthew scolded him. "When did you become so talkative? You have a sister now, be more mature!"
Vaughn replied smoothly. "I just don't want Sarah to feel uncomfortable!"
Isabella covered her mouth, laughing softly. "Dad, you can play with the kids." She took Claire and Sarah. "Let's check out the kitchen and the garden, get familiar with the place."
Matthew waved them off. "I could use some peace and quiet."
Isabella led Sarah out, she whispered to Sarah. "He likes to pretend he's tough. He's been looking forward to you coming. He even had your bedroom, the kids' rooms, and Claire's room prepared... He's never been this meticulous. He really cares about you."
Isabella's voice was gentle, and Claire was impressed. She was happy. Sarah's good fortune had arrived.
The Moore family was harmonious.
After lunch, Isabella called Sarah aside. In a softly scented room, Isabella took out a blue designer dress and held it up to Sarah.
Her voice was warm and affectionate. "Our Dad specifically instructed this. He paid for it. He said the eldest sister is like a mother. I should handle these things. I love the excitement, so I picked and picked, and finally chose this designer dress. Only this dress can match your elegance!"
Isabella continued. "Sarah, our Dad truly cares for you. He's usually very frugal, afraid of any gossip. But this time, he added a lot to the budget, afraid of upsetting you."
Sarah felt a bit guilty.
But Isabella gently patted her hand. "Don't worry, our Dad is happy. We should be happy too! On that day, we should be joyful and beautiful, showing everyone. The Moore family have a heiress so noble and elegant. I want all the men in Evergreen City to see your grace."
