Chapter 315 She Really Wanted to Hug Jacob

Sarah's wrist throbbed from his grip. She stared at the actress's retreating figure for a while before muttering, "No, I'm not. Even if I wanted to, I don't deserve it, right?"

Oliver looked annoyed. Just then, a chilly night breeze blew, and Sarah started coughing.

Noticing her thin clothes, Oliver frowned, "Why are you out here alone so late?" He glanced around, "Out to buy medicine?"

Sarah's heart raced. She didn't want him checking her bag, so she mumbled, "Yeah, I got my period, and it hurts."

Oliver seemed to buy it. He told her to get in the car, and she had no choice but to follow.

The car was warm, but the lingering scent of another woman's perfume made Sarah feel sick. She tried to tough it out, not wanting to upset Oliver or draw attention.

She was in pain, her face pale, and she curled up in her seat.

They drove in silence until they pulled into the hotel parking lot. Oliver gestured, and the driver got out to smoke.

The car felt even more cramped with just the two of them.

Oliver took a cigarette from the pack and played with it between his fingers. His long fingers looked almost artistic in the dim light.

After a while, he turned to Sarah and said calmly, "Dylan's been bailed out."

Sarah was stunned, then croaked, "Thank you."

Oliver stared into her eyes and quickly asked, "Is 'thank you' all that's left between us? Sarah, if I gave you another chance, would you choose to stay with me or let Dylan go abroad?"

A sudden pain hit Sarah. She held her abdomen and gave a faint smile, "No matter what I choose, it would be heartless. Oliver, I won't change my decision."

Oliver suddenly turned his head, his profile briefly showing a hint of gentleness before hardening into severity.

He placed the cigarette between his lips and slowly lit it. The flame cast a faint orange glow on their faces. His voice was nonchalant, "Aren't you going to ask about the woman just now?"

Sarah curled up in the corner, using all her strength to answer softly, "There's nothing to ask. As long as you're happy."

When love was gone, and her life was nearing its end, nothing else mattered. Only Jacob remained her concern.

Clearly, Sarah's answer displeased Oliver. He opened the car door, letting a cold wind rush in, and his tone grew even colder, "Get out!"

Sarah slowly got out and followed him back to the hotel suite. Maybe because she mentioned her period, he didn't want to have sex with her and instead went into the study.

Sarah took the chance to pop a couple of painkillers. They were bitter, and even with water, she couldn't help but cough, feeling even more nauseous.

Just then, Oliver walked out, phone in hand, having just finished a call. The main office in Evergreen City had an important meeting. They had to head back the next day.

As soon as Oliver came in, he saw Sarah finishing her medicine, her eyes still a bit watery. He frowned, said a few words to the person on the phone, and then hung up.

On the small bar, there was the inner packaging of the medicine. Oliver picked it up, glanced at it, and recognized it as a prescription drug from the hospital.

He looked up at Sarah, "How'd you get this? I've never seen you have period pain before. Why's it so bad this time?"

Sarah's heart raced, and she swallowed hard before softly saying, "At first, the cashier wouldn't give it to me. I gave her $200, and she agreed to help me get it," she paused, "It just suddenly hurt this time."

Oliver's long fingers played with the blister pack, and finally, he just said, "These pills are bad for your stomach. Don't take them often."

Having gotten through it, Sarah felt a weight lift off her chest.

The next day, they headed back to Evergreen City.

At noon, the black car slowly drove into the luxurious villa. Olivia, along with a group of servants, was already waiting. Jacob was in Olivia's arms, cute and chubby.

When Jacob saw Sarah, he stretched out his arms and called, "Mom, Mom."

In the past, Sarah thought there was plenty of time. So with Jacob being raised by Oliver, she didn't miss him too much because she knew that only by protecting herself could there be a time for reunion.

But now it was different. Her life was nearing its end, and she desperately wanted to hold Jacob.

The moment Sarah held Jacob, she felt his body, smelled his scent, and sensed his warmth. Jacob was her son.

Knowing she was losing control, she couldn't help but bury her face in Jacob's neck, feeling his presence as tears quietly flowed. Sarah didn't know how much longer she had to live or how many more times she could hold Jacob like this, but with each hug, she hoped Jacob would remember her and know that he was loved by her. She called out, "Jacob!"

At this moment, Sarah was almost shattered. No amount of warm sunlight could warm her slowly cooling soul.

Beside her, Oliver frowned. Since the incident with Lester, he rarely saw Sarah express her emotions so openly, but unfortunately, it wasn't for him. Now she was very cold and indifferent towards him. Whether Oliver had women around him or how many women, she never cared.

Oliver looked at her deeply for a moment, then said in a calm tone, "Take Jacob inside. It's cold out here; he'll catch a cold."

A mournful sound escaped Sarah's throat.
