Chapter 349 Wedding Photos

Zoey tried to keep it together, "The scene's already blocked off."

She really didn't want Sarah to go over there. She knew it would just break her heart. If Sarah got too involved with Lester, she was going to have a hard time later on.

But Sarah didn't care; she was determined to see Lester and Alyssa.

In Vesper City, Zoey had some pull. Before long, Sarah was half-kneeling in front of Lester and Alyssa.

Sarah couldn't see; she had to rely on touch.

Sarah had always been scared of dead things, but now she gently touched Lester's face and Alyssa's body. She felt Lester's eyes, Alyssa's blood-stained forehead, and their separated hands.

Tears streamed down Sarah's face as she whispered, "Lester, why were you so stuck in the past? It's been so long. You have a wife and a beautiful daughter. Why did you still give me your corneas? Lester, how am I supposed to live with this? These eyes of mine carry the weight of two lives."

Sarah stayed there for a long time. Shaking, she gently placed Alyssa's hand in Lester's palm.

Zoey stepped forward and gently hugged her shoulders, "Don't be too sad."

Sarah looked up slightly, her voice hoarse and barely audible, "I can't see now, so many things are hard for me to do. Zoey, please handle their funeral arrangements for me."

Zoey nodded, "Don't worry, Mrs. Windsor."

After a while, Sarah said in a daze, "Find a good place and bury them together. Every year at this time, I'll bring their daughter to visit them."

On the day of Lester and Alyssa's funeral, Sarah went.

She held Nicole, with Olivia and Zoey supporting her. She whispered in front of Lester and Alyssa's grave, "Don't worry, I'll take good care of the child and raise her to adulthood."

On the tombstone was a wedding photo of Lester and Alyssa, both smiling happily.

Zoey finally got through on the phone.

By this time, it had been three days since Sarah's corneal transplant surgery.

Zoey couldn't figure out if Sarah or Ellie was more important to Oliver. She called today just to tell Oliver what had happened in the past three days.

The call connected, and Oliver's voice sounded tired, "How's Sarah been these past few days?"

Zoey tried to speak several times but choked up.

After a while, she managed to pull herself together, though her voice still had an edge to it. "Mr. Windsor, I'm not sure if this is good news or bad news for you, but I have to be honest with you."

Oliver tensed up. "Did something happen to Sarah?"

"No, Mrs. Windsor is fine. She had the corneal transplant surgery, and it was very successful! The night you flew to Windcrest, Mrs. Windsor's eye condition suddenly worsened. Dr. Scott said that if the transplant wasn't done within 8 hours, Mrs. Windsor would be permanently blind. Mr. Windsor, it was Lester who donated the corneas."

"After the corneas were removed, he jumped off a building. If you think that's not tragic enough, Mr. Windsor, then there's something even worse. At dawn, Mr. Mitchell also died, leaving behind only a baby in swaddling clothes."

Windcrest, a manor villa.

In the grand and luxurious hall, Oliver stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, his whole body tense as he listened to Zoey's near-venting words.

Sarah had received Lester's corneas.

Lester was dead; he would forever live in Sarah's heart, never to be forgotten.

Oliver's emotions were all over the place, his throat tightening. He was about to tell Zoey he'd fly back to Vesper City right away to deal with everything, but he knew it was already too late.

Lester's pair of corneas, Lester and Alyssa's two lives, had brought him and Sarah to a dead end.

He was thinking that Sarah would never love him again.

At that moment, Ellie slowly walked out of the room, her face full of gloom. Not only did she have heart problems, but she also had uterine cancer.

The doctors in Windcrest said that even if her heart didn't reject, she wouldn't have more than six months to live.

Ellie hugged Oliver from behind.

She pressed her face against his firm back and softly murmured, "I heard everything. Her body is healed, and she can see now! She has a man who loves her so much he's willing to die for her. Oliver, I really envy her! A woman who can achieve that is truly successful."

Oliver hadn't hung up the phone. Zoey heard Ellie speaking and felt extremely angry. She coldly said to Oliver, "Mr. Windsor, I don't know what you're thinking, but I need to tell you that Sarah is your wife. If you don't come back now, I think you'll lose her forever."

Oliver was about to speak when the doctor came over, holding a thick stack of X-rays, "Mr. Windsor, I would like to discuss Ms. Johnson's condition with you further."

Oliver said to Zoey, "I'll call Sarah back later."

With that, he hung up.

Zoey, on the other end, couldn't hold back and started cursing.

Ellie was not doing well. The doctor said she couldn't have a hysterectomy and there was no hope for her survival.

The doctor sighed and said, "Mr. Windsor, Ms. Johnson has only about three months left. Please be there for her as much as you can."

After the doctor left, Oliver stood by the window, holding a phone in one hand and a cigar in the other, but he didn't smoke.

Ellie hugged him from behind, clinging to his scent. Even though he wouldn't touch her, she felt that as long as he stayed with her like this, they were no different from a normal married couple.

She was going to die, but she wasn't afraid because she had received all of Oliver's love before her death.

She leaned against him, whispering tenderly, "Oliver, I want to leave my best self for you! My biggest wish is to marry you, but you have a wife, and I know you love her. But I have only one request: take a wedding photo with me! Just pretend we got married once, just pretend we were a couple. Oliver, I won't ask for anything else, and I won't hold you back. I know you'll go back to her eventually."

Oliver turned around, his gaze deep.

Ellie looked up, gently caressing his face. He was so handsome.

Oliver's features were like they were perfectly sculpted by God. He had this natural nobility about him, and with his custom-made designer clothes, everything about him just fascinated her.

Ellie softly murmured, "Promise me, will you? Oliver, this is my last wish in life."

Oliver didn't speak, but Ellie knew he agreed. Between her and Sarah, she always came first.

Because of her, Sarah missed out on a pair of corneas.

Now, because of her, Oliver didn't rush back to Vesper City right away. She knew he only felt guilty towards her, but so what? As long as she understood a man's mind, she could always keep his affection.

Even if one day she died, Oliver would always remember her.

A few days later, in Vesper City, at Brightview Medical Center, Sarah had already removed the bandages and returned to normal life. Without Oliver's permission, she still had to stay here to recuperate.

Late at night, Olivia was frantically trying to soothe two children.

Sarah took Nicole in her arms and softly said to Olivia, "She feels a bit warm! Call a pediatrician over."

Olivia touched her and sighed, "Yeah. She cries every day, probably missing her parents! Mrs. Windsor, has Mr. Windsor still not called? He is so heartless!"

Sarah was momentarily dazed and gently shook her head, "Olivia, don't mention Oliver."

Olivia sighed, "Alright. We won't mention him. I'll help you take good care of the two children, raise them to adulthood, and make them capable."

After saying that, Olivia went to find a doctor.

Sarah held Nicole close and gently soothed Jacob. At that moment, her phone rang; it was Oliver calling.
