Chapter 376 I Wonder How Long This Snow Will Last

Sarah didn't bother explaining; she just told Olivia to pack up.

Olivia quickly threw Oliver's stuff into a suitcase and dragged it to the study, but Oliver wasn't there.

He was in Jacob's nursery.

The early morning light softly lit up Jacob's little face.

Oliver was half-squatting by the crib, gently touching Jacob's cheek. He didn't wake him, just watched quietly, memorizing that face that looked so much like Sarah's.

Olivia stood at the door, muttering, "What a hypocrite."

Oliver didn't argue. He stroked Jacob's face one more time, stood up, and walked out. He took the suitcase from Olivia and asked softly, "How is she? Did she cry?"

Olivia snapped back, "She's about to be single again, she's fantastic! Even I want to throw her a party."

Oliver frowned, about to say something, but Olivia turned and walked away.

Worried, Olivia went back to the bedroom.

Sarah was leaning against the headboard, her face glowing in the morning light. She was quietly gazing out the window at the falling snow.

Her voice was soft, "I wonder how long this snow will last."

Olivia felt a pang of sadness. She knew Sarah well. Even if she won her freedom, how could she be happy after losing her child and being abandoned by her husband?

From the courtyard, the sound of a car engine starting up signaled Oliver's departure.

"Help me up," Sarah suddenly said.

Olivia was startled. She rushed over to help, hesitating as she advised, "Mrs. Windsor, if you still care about Mr. Windsor, just soften up a bit. Call him now and say a few kind words, and he'll come back."

Sarah didn't respond. She wore her nightgown, pushed open the balcony door, and stepped outside.

Despite the biting cold wind, she stood there, insisting on seeing Oliver one last time.

She wouldn't return to Vesper City or Evergreen City. She planned to take the kids to Skylandia.

Olivia brought a coat and draped it over Sarah's shoulders. She stood with Sarah, watching Oliver leave.

She couldn't guess what Sarah was feeling. Was it reluctance or sadness?

The light snow eventually buried the tears.

After a long while, Sarah said, "Let's go back."

In the warm bedroom, Sarah held the hot soup Olivia had brought to warm herself. Then she softly said, "In the walk-in closet, there's a bank card of mine. I've sold all the jewelry he recently gave me; all the money is in there. It's enough for the two of us and the kids to live on. Olivia, would you be willing to live with us? First to Skylandia, then later to Alphoria."

Olivia was stunned.

After a while, she trembled as she asked, "Mrs. Windsor, if you don't go back to Vesper City, how will you get a divorce?"

Sarah understood Olivia's concern, her voice hoarse, "If he wants to give Ellie an explanation, he'll find a way. This little thing is nothing to him! As for why I won't go back to Vesper City or Evergreen City, Olivia, I don't want to have any more entanglements with him. He came from that dark place, and he's got no boundaries left. I'm afraid he'll entangle me again. I'm not worried about myself; I'm afraid for Jacob, that he'll be ruined!"

"That bank card has a considerable amount, over 15 million dollars. As long as we don't squander it, it will be enough to raise the two kids well. Oliver has a lot of money, but I don't want Jacob to be tainted by it."

Olivia, with tears in her eyes, replied, "I understand! I'm willing!"

She helped Sarah to the bed.

Olivia urged Sarah to take care of her health, saying, "Just for the sake of the two kids. You are talented and can raise them well."

Under the crystal chandelier, Sarah smiled faintly.

Outside the floor-to-ceiling window, the snow continued to fall.

Sarah thought, 'Once the snow stops, the world will be a different place.'
