Chapter 5 Want to be Lucas's Wife?

Grace swung open the car door, her voice cold. "Don't worry."

Henry watched her for a moment before getting out. He quickly caught up and grabbed her hand. Feeling her pull away, he held on tighter. "Remember what you said," he insisted.

Grace's fingers twitched, but she didn't let go.

Inside, Aurora was waiting. Seeing them holding hands, she frowned a bit.

After some small talk, she turned to Grace.

"Aurora," Grace greeted. Aurora hesitated before responding.

Normally, Grace would feel hurt, but now she didn't even care about Henry, so why would she care about this? Henry's voice broke her thoughts. "Let's go see Seraphina."

In the bedroom, Seraphina was lying on the bed, clearly unwell. When Henry brought Grace in, her old eyes lit up. "Grace, I missed you so much," she said.

Henry nudged Grace forward.

He whispered to Seraphina, "Knowing you're not well, I brought her to you."

Seraphina's eyes sparkled with a smile.

But she pretended not to hear clearly, raising her voice, "What? You and Grace are planning to have a baby? Henry, having a baby is important, I love it when you have babies."

Even though he knew Seraphina was pushing him to have a child, Henry glanced at Grace, who stayed distant and didn't play along.

Grace chatted with Seraphina for a bit, then stood up. "I'll go make some snacks."

As she left, Seraphina's smile faded. "Henry, what's going on with that Elodie? Be careful, your wife might get jealous and cause trouble."

"You need to take care of Grace's family too. If you keep being so cold, Grace might divorce you," Seraphina warned.

Henry gave a half-hearted response, not mentioning the fireworks incident. Maybe it was Celeste's doing!

After a long chat, Grace came back with snacks.

Henry noticed that even after doing housework, Grace's clothes were still neat and elegant. She looked every bit the noblewoman.

Seraphina liked her a lot. She tasted a snack and got straight to the point. "Henry, you'll be 30 in two years. Your friends already have kids. When will you give me a great-grandchild?"

Grace stayed silent.

Henry glanced at her, picked up a snack, and toyed with it. "Grace is still young, let her enjoy a couple more years!"

Seraphina knew Henry didn't like Grace, but she didn't want to make it obvious.

After they finished eating and were heading back, it was already very late.

Henry buckled his seatbelt and glanced at Grace, who was staring out the window. In the dim light, her profile looked peaceful. He watched her for a moment before gently pressing the gas pedal.

The black Bentley glided smoothly, the lights on either side fading into the distance. He wanted to talk, so he drove slowly.

After about five minutes, Henry broke the silence. "Tomorrow, I'll arrange for your dad to be moved to the Montague Group hospital. The best specialists will take care of him. And if you need money, just let me know."

His tone was gentle, almost like a peace offering.

Henry didn't love Grace and still resented her for manipulating him in the past. He had his principles.

But he had no plans to divorce her. That would mess up his personal life and hurt the Montague Group's stock.

Plus, Grace was stunning. He couldn't deny he found her physically attractive.

As they approached a red light, Henry glanced at her again.

He gripped the steering wheel and continued, "Celeste won't come to the house anymore. You can keep the jewels. I'll explain it to her."

Grace stayed silent. The car's air conditioning was freezing, and she hugged herself to keep warm.

They'd been married for three years, and she knew him well enough. These concessions were his way of pampering her. She should be grateful, but she wasn't.

He said a lot but didn't mention Elodie. If she accepted his terms, Elodie would still be in their lives. Nothing would change.

Grace was tired of this loveless marriage. It felt cruel, and she feared it might lead to depression.

She calmly refused, "No need. My dad's current doctor is fine."

Henry understood her rejection and insistence on a divorce. Anger flared up. "Grace, don't forget we signed a prenuptial agreement. If you divorce me, you won't get a penny."

"I know!" Grace shot back quickly.

Henry's patience snapped. He didn't say another word.

Twenty minutes later, they pulled into their villa. He stopped the car and told the guard, "Close the gate. Don't let even a fly out."

The guard, puzzled, watched as Henry drove to the parking lot in front of the villa.

The car stopped. Grace unbuckled her seatbelt and reached for the door, but Henry locked it.
