Chapter 489 Husband and Wife Reunion 1

The following day, Sarah returned to Evergreen City.

As soon as she stepped off the private jet, she headed straight to the Montague Mansion to pick up their two children.

Grace was overjoyed at the news, tears of happiness streaming down her face. She and Henry brought the children over for a family reunion.

The mansion felt empty without its master. Claire bustled about, barely touching the ground as she prepared everything. She wanted the house to feel warm and lively when her employer returned. The staff were all in motion—some cleaning, others shopping for supplies.

In the afternoon, Henry went to pick up Oliver.

When the black Rolls-Royce pulled into the driveway, Sarah was arranging flowers in the great hall with Nicole leaning against her. At the sound of familiar footsteps in the foyer, Nicole called out "Daddy!" in her sweet little voice and ran to hug Oliver's legs.

Jacob did the same.

Time seemed to stand still as Sarah gazed lovingly at her husband.

He looked tanner and thinner, but his spirit remained strong.

She wanted to speak, but her lips trembled too much.

Oliver stared back at her, a thousand words unspoken. With others present, he kept his emotions in check. After a moment, he bent down to pick up Nicole, kissing her gently, then ruffled Jacob's hair. "You've grown taller."

Nicole clung tightly to her father's neck. "I missed Daddy so much! Jacob missed you too, Daddy. He even cried."

Oliver looked tenderly at his firstborn.

Jacob, at that age when boys are most concerned with appearing tough, turned his face away stubbornly. "I did not cry! Only little girls cry."

But his voice was shaking.

Finally, he too threw himself into his father's arms, sobbing.

Oliver felt a pang in his heart as he comforted both children in turn, yet his eyes kept finding Sarah.

He hadn't seen her in over a month and had missed her terribly. But even on this day, with the whole family together, they both managed to keep their feelings in check.

The family spent a joyful afternoon together. At eight in the evening, Henry and Grace left with Taylor and Avery. Once their own children were in bed, Oliver finally had a chance to be alone with his wife.

In the master bedroom, the lights seemed to glow more warmly with the master's return.

Oliver emerged from the shower wearing only a white bathrobe. Anticipating what was to come, he wore nothing underneath. He found Sarah sitting at her vanity.

He embraced her from behind, his voice husky, "Did you miss me?"

Sarah gently opened his robe, revealing a body covered in scars.

Sarah's eyes filled with tears, her heart aching at the sight. She softly traced the marks with her fingers. "Do they still hurt? How could they be so cruel to you?"

"They don't hurt anymore," Oliver said dismissively.

He tilted her delicate chin up and kissed her deeply.

For a brief moment, all their troubles disappeared; all he could see was his beloved wife.

Mindful of her condition, he made love to her with gentle restraint.

Afterward, Sarah went to shower.

Craving a cigarette, Oliver slipped on his robe and stepped out onto the terrace. The night was calm, the air sweet with the scent of blooming flowers. For a moment, everything felt just right.

After finishing his cigarette, he returned to the bedroom. Sarah was applying moisturizer, her skin glowing. Oliver embraced her from behind, whispering words of longing.

Sarah leaned against his shoulder, savoring her husband's affection.

In the past, she had always held back. But now, wrapped in the warmth of their marriage and truly in love, she found herself wanting to see him lose control. She whispered soft, loving words to him.

Oliver was moved. "Sarah!"

Sarah wrapped her arms around his neck, softly expressing her feelings.

In the early hours of the morning, Oliver sat in his study, staring at a photograph.

It showed Sarah sitting in Octavius's car. The way Octavius looked at Sarah revealed both admiration and inappropriate desire.

After studying it for a long time, Oliver let out a scornful laugh. "That creep really thought he could get close to my wife."

He called Zoey, "Prepare the private jet. I'm going to Harmony City."

Early the next morning, sunlight filtered through the curtains like soft moonlight.

Sarah slowly opened her eyes.

Her body still held the warmth of their lovemaking, bringing back memories of their passionate night. Her cheeks flushed at the recollection of her own boldness.

Reaching out, she found Oliver's side of the bed empty.

After washing up, she went to the study looking for him. Instead of her husband, she found the photograph of herself and Octavius.

Sarah stared at it for a long moment, feeling both annoyed and amused. She guessed that Oliver had left for Harmony City in the middle of the night.
