Chapter 260 What I Want to Give You Now Is the Future!

Grace strolled into the villa.

The hall was cozy. A few servants came down from upstairs and, spotting Grace, eagerly said, "Mr. Montague sent over a bunch of gifts. They're all in the living room on the second floor. Ms. Windsor, you can check them out."

They were usually so diligent, and Grace just couldn't bring herself to scold them. She gave a slight nod and slowly made her way up to the second floor.

Pushing open the door, she saw the room filled with fancy boxes, each with a card attached. A quick count showed there were 31 of them.

She was 31 years old, and Henry had sent 31 gifts.

Grace took off her coat, sat right down on the carpet, and started unwrapping the gifts. Some were pricey jewelry, some were limited edition handbags, and there were even silk pajamas and skincare products.

The last box had a Patek Philippe women's watch.

Grace had always helped Henry with his stuff, and she could tell that this watch was the matching pair to the one Henry often wore. That model wasn't made by the brand anymore, but he had gone out of his way to order it.

It was wasteful yet romantic.

Grace picked up the cards and looked at them one by one. Each one was handwritten by Henry. His handwriting was wild, and she found it hard to imagine him sitting down to write these cards.

[When I first met you, you were only 6 years old. That day you wore a lovely dress and had two braids. You were very cute. Grace, it's not just Lucas who remembers what you were like as a child. I can do it, too.]

[Grace, that time you wanted a divorce, I had actually signed the divorce agreement. But I tore it up!]

[I lied. I just didn't want to lose you.]

Grace read each card, which recorded Henry's feelings.

She had known for a long time, but seeing Henry's thoughts written down and given to her, she couldn't help but be touched, especially given all the ups and downs they had been through.

Grace finished reading and sat silently for a long time.

She looked at the gifts again. They were all very expensive, probably worth millions of dollars. Any woman would be ecstatic; no woman could refuse jewelry and designer bags.

But Grace didn't want them. She didn't want Henry's attempts to please her.

She called the servants and asked them to pack the items and put them in the storage room on the first floor, explaining that she would donate them to charity the next day.

The servants were shocked. Seeing Grace's expression, they didn't dare to ask.

About fifteen minutes later, a servant cautiously asked, "Ms. Windsor, what should we do with these cards? And this watch—it looks a lot like the one Mr. Montague wears. Are you really going to donate it too?"

Grace took the box, looked at it for a long time, and finally kept it.

After Grace finished her bath and lay in bed, Henry called.

He probably got the news and knew Grace was going to donate the gifts. He spoke very gently, "Don't you like them? If you don't like them, I'll send another batch tomorrow. Grace, tell me what you like. I really want to make you happy."

Grace lay in bed, her face against the white pillow, appearing vulnerable.

She said softly, "Henry, stop sending them! What I want has never been those expensive jewelry and accessories. Sending meaningless gifts and writing countless cards can't change our past."

Maybe because it was late at night, they were willing to be honest with each other.

Henry was silent for a long time. When he spoke again, his voice was even gentler. "Grace, you're right. I can't change the past. What I want to give you now is the future! I know you don't value these things; you have them yourself. But I want to treat you better, I want to make you happy, but it always seems like I'm not doing enough, right?"

His voice was alluring as he said, "Mrs. Montague, you are really hard to please."

Grace didn't say anything else. She just leaned against the pillow, listening to his soft breathing, doing nothing, saying nothing, just passing the time.

But having someone willing to be there with you like this wasn't a waste.

Later, Grace fell asleep.

On the other side, Henry sat in his study, quietly watching the night outside. He knew Grace felt hurt because he had ruthlessly driven her away that time. She was a proud woman; there was no way she could just forgive him easily.

Even though they had made love last night, he knew deep down that Grace couldn't just make up with him like that.

Otherwise, she would have come home with him.

The night grew deeper, and Henry, holding his phone, said softly, "Grace, come back please."

Henry was very serious about winning her back.

Grace didn't accept him, but he didn't force her. Every time he came over, besides bringing gifts for the children, he also brought gifts for Grace and even Clara.

He showed her great respect.

Over time, even Clara couldn't help but persuade Grace. She said, "It's been several months, and Henry has been very proper, not like before when he just wanted to trick you into coming back. I think he's really sincere this time! Grace, what do you think? Do you want to test him a bit more, or do you have other plans?"

Clara was anxious.

They were in the prime of their lives, yet they were dragging things out, making everyone anxious.

Grace, while making pizza, said softly, "I do have feelings for him. But Clara, I've been in and out of his world so many times, and in the end, I don't have a place to settle down! When he says go, I have to go! I feel so frustrated, I'm lowering myself and I wonder why I should even have to! Besides, I'm not in the right headspace for it now."

Clara understood and didn't bring it up again. Instead, she said, "Didn't Mrs. Young mention a potential match for you? Why not take some time to meet him? Maybe you'll like him!"

Grace wasn't in the mood, but Clara gently held her hand and smiled faintly. "Go and see. Maybe this will help you understand your own heart better. Besides, you and Henry are not married now, so there's no need to hold back for him."

Grace blushed. "That's not what I meant."

Clara's smile deepened. "Even better if it's not! Anyway, don't let him control you this time. While you're single, you should meet new people and explore. It's a good thing! Even if Henry knows, he can't say anything about it!"
