Chapter 120 I'm Not One of Those Women You Have Outside!
Henry's voice was soft in the night. "Do you know what it means to fool around?"
Grace didn't know and didn't want to.
She tried to pull away, but Henry held her tight, their hips pressed together. The thin fabric between them did nothing to hide the closeness.
Embarrassed and angry, Grace said, "I told you, I'm not one of those women you have outside!"
He looked at her, his golden hair draped over his shoulders, her delicate face, elegant nose, and rose-colored lips. She was top-notch.
Henry's expression softened, and he involuntarily whispered, "Grace, you're the only woman I've ever been with!"
Grace couldn't stand hearing that. She wanted to hit him but didn't dare. After a long standoff, she was still straddling his lap, looking like she was at his mercy.
Henry grabbed her hand and lightly slapped his own face with it. It was a lewd but affectionate gesture, the kind of joke only couples share.
But they weren't a couple anymore.
Grace turned her face away, her eyes slightly red. "If we're not going to make love, then let me go. I want to go back!"
Henry didn't want her to leave.
"Stay the night, keep me company. The house feels so empty after you left."
Grace's lips trembled. "Henry, I thank you for what you did for my dad. But we both know why our marriage ended! You deceived and hurt me! Aren't you still involved with Elodie? As long as Elodie is around, we have no chance! Plus, I ain't looking back. I'm doing well now and I'm content."
Henry wanted to explain about Elodie, but Grace clearly didn't want to talk about it.
She softly said she wanted to leave. Henry stared at her for a long time before finally letting her go. "I'll change clothes and take you back."
Grace refused. "Let the driver take me."
But Henry insisted. He got up and walked towards the bedroom, taking off his black robe. "I have something to discuss with you."
Grace heard the seriousness in his tone and didn't refuse again.
Henry drove a black Rolls-Royce Phantom. Grace initially wanted to sit in the back seat but thought better of it and sat in the passenger seat.
Henry wasn't in high spirits. He didn't speak during the 20-minute drive. When they arrived at Grace's apartment complex, he parked and turned to look at her.
Grace softly asked, "Henry, what do you want to talk about?"
Henry smiled faintly and suddenly asked, "How long has it been since you last saw Juniper?"
Grace's heart skipped a beat. "What do you mean?"
Henry stared at her for a long time. He leaned over and took a piece of paper from the glove compartment, handing it to Grace. "Take a look at this."
Grace glanced at it and was stunned.
It was a pregnancy test result, showing eight weeks of pregnancy, and the name on it was Juniper.
Grace was in a daze for a long time, the paper slipping from her fingers. She blinked slowly, unable to accept the reality.
Juniper was pregnant, and it was obviously Frank's child. But she and Frank had already parted ways, and soon it would be Frank and Thalia's wedding. This child was destined to be illegitimate.
Grace was silent for a long time.
Henry leaned back in his seat, took out a cigarette, and lit it. The car window was rolled down, and the smoke was carried outside by the wind. Even so, the car still had a faint smell of tobacco.
Henry held the cigarette between his long fingers, elbow resting on the window, and looked at Grace. "Because of Juniper, the Green and Cavendish families are at odds. Juniper's pregnant; the Cavendish family will find out too. Mr. Vincent Cavendish won't accept her. A multi-billion dollar project is at stake, so whether Juniper keeps the child or not, they'll use her to show their sincerity to Thalia. Even if Frank knows, he can't protect her."
Grace trembled. She didn't want to believe Henry, but deep down, she knew he wasn't lying.
She looked at him, her voice soft. "Henry."
Henry guessed she wanted to plead for Juniper.
He flicked the ash from his cigarette and smiled faintly. "This isn't a trivial matter. I can't offend the Green and Cavendish families for no reason. Besides, Grace, I'm not running a charity, am I?"
His last words were soft, his gaze deep.
Grace understood. If she returned to him, he could protect Juniper and the unborn child.
Grace's fingers curled slightly, and she didn't speak for a long time.
Henry watched her, guessing she was unwilling. He didn't force her but leaned over to extinguish the cigarette and said lightly, "Then let Juniper go abroad, find a secluded island to have the child. She can't stay in Evergreen City."
Grace softly thanked him.
Henry nodded and opened the car door for her.
When Grace got out, her legs were weak.
She stood in the night wind, watching Henry's car leave. When it was out of sight, she ran to the roadside to hail a taxi.
Late at night, Juniper opened the door, surprised to see Grace. "Why are you here in the middle of the night? You look distraught."
She worried Grace might be cold and quickly pulled her inside.
With the lights on, Juniper noticed the faint hickey on Grace's neck. She was about to tease her, but Grace stared at her intently. "You're pregnant, aren't you?"
Juniper was stunned.
After a moment, she walked to the water dispenser to pour Grace some water. "How did you know? Did Henry tell you?"
Grace took the cup from her hand. "That's not the point! The point is, you can't keep the child," Grace said, then started crying.
She knew it was cruel, but what could she do? In the face of a multi-billion dollar project, Juniper and her unborn child were insignificant.
Henry had made it clear that Vincent Cavendish wouldn't let Juniper live.
Grace longed for Juniper to have a child for company, but she cared more about Juniper's life.
Grace was really scared, scared that Juniper would lose her life.
Juniper walked over and hugged Grace, pressing her face against Grace's neck, feeling the warmth there.
She said softly, "Grace, I want to keep this child! I became an orphan in my teens, but I had you! This is my life now, and I won't meet anyone better. This little one might've come at a bad time, but it's also the right time. I want it to stay with me!"
Grace tilted her head slightly, tears streaming down her face. She choked up. "Don't you care about your life? Do you know..."
"I know!" Juniper interrupted, even smiling a little. "I know it's dangerous, but I'm willing to risk my life for it!"
Grace trembled as she looked at her. After a while, she hugged Juniper and cried, "You fool!"
