Chapter 435 Jealous and Angry? 1

Half an hour later, the car pulled into the driveway of the villa.

This was the house they had once lived in together. Now, stepping inside again, Sarah was overwhelmed with mixed emotions.

As soon as the back door opened, a little girl came running over.

"Daddy!"

Nicole clung to Oliver's leg, acting all cute.

With one hand, Oliver lifted her up and placed her on his lap inside the car.

The driver, sensing the moment, got out of the car.

Inside the car, it was dim. Nicole lay in Oliver's arms, cautiously looking at Sarah. She still remembered Sarah, but after four years apart, she felt a bit shy and couldn't bring herself to call her "Mom."

Sarah felt the same way.

The closer you get to home, the more apprehensive you become—this was exactly how she felt.

Oliver patted Nicole's head and looked at Sarah. "Don't you want to hold her?"

Sarah's voice trembled slightly. "I'd love to."

She reached out, and Oliver handed Nicole to her.

Sarah held Nicole in her arms. The little girl nestled obediently against her, her voice as soft as a kitten's. "Mommy."

Sarah hugged her tightly and kissed her little face.

Nicole enjoyed Sarah's affection, giggling, but soon she started to cry. She clung to Sarah, refusing to get up, just sobbing quietly.

Sarah felt at a loss.

She glanced at Oliver, hoping he would comfort Nicole.

In the dim light, Oliver spoke with a blank expression. "You left without a word four years ago, abandoning her. And now you don't even want to comfort her? Or is it that you've moved on and don't want her anymore?"

"No."

Sarah's voice choked slightly. She lowered her head, pressing her cheek against Nicole's, silently comforting her.

The car was quiet, except for Nicole's sobs.

Oliver kept his eyes on Sarah.

His gaze seemed to hold the stars and the sea, filled with four years of longing and resentment. But he said nothing, just looked at her with a distant gaze.

Time seemed to stand still.

Time seemed to favor Oliver. His handsome, chiseled face showed no signs of aging, still looking just as she remembered.

Sarah inadvertently looked up and met his blue eyes.

She trembled all over.

Oliver got out of the car with Nicole in his arms. Sarah hesitated for a moment but followed them out.

Claire stood at the entrance.

Seeing Sarah emerge from the darkness, her voice choked up. "Mrs. Windsor, where have you been?"

Sarah felt a pang of sorrow. She replied softly, "I went to Switzerland."

Oliver stood under the crystal chandelier at the entrance, looking at her quietly. "Seems like you had quite an exciting time in Switzerland, since you didn't even make a single phone call."

His tone was mocking.

In fact, ever since they reunited, every word he spoke was filled with mockery, which made it hard to bear.

Claire could hear it too.

She took Sarah's hand, giving Oliver a disdainful look. "Ignore him. He's going through a midlife crisis, always speaking sarcastically and being difficult. No one can stand him!"

Nicole clung to Oliver's neck.

"Daddy's having a midlife crisis."

Oliver pinched her cheek.

He set her down on the carpet to play by herself.

He went to make coffee for Sarah, looking dignified. "Same as before, Blue Mountain with half sugar?"

Nicole dragged Sarah to show her the drawings she had made.

Sarah held the sketchpad, flipping through the pages, amazed.

Nicole had a real talent.

"I drew these," Nicole said proudly, her little body almost shaking with excitement. Sarah hugged her, feeling a surge of happiness. This child had inherited Lester's talent.

She couldn't kiss her enough.

The coffee machine hummed softly.

Oliver leaned against the counter, his tall frame highlighted by the vest he wore under his suit jacket, showing off his broad shoulders and narrow waist. As Claire would say, he was a real heartthrob.

He fiddled with the cups, speaking casually. "Help her with her homework."

Nicole pouted, looking unhappy.

Sarah's heart ached with love. "Nicole, you don't like doing homework?"

Nicole burrowed into her arms, looking pitiful. "I don't know how."

Sarah didn't think much of it. She gently opened Nicole's workbook, and then she froze.

It was full of red "X"s.

Even the simplest question, 1+1, was answered with 3, and the corrections were still wrong.

It wasn't just math; everything was like that.

Even if Sarah was slow to realize, she understood why Oliver wanted her to see this. He was trying to tell her… She looked up, meeting his deep, unreadable eyes. He was staring back at her.

Sarah's voice trembled slightly. "You never told me."

"How could I tell you?"

Oliver's face was cold under the crystal light. He looked directly at Sarah and repeated, "Four years, and not a word from you! Sarah, tell me, how was I supposed to tell you?"

He was emotional, not as calm as before.

Sarah hadn't spoken yet when Nicole, still in her arms, looked at Oliver with tear-filled eyes and cried out, "I'm stupid…"

Sarah's heart broke.

She hugged Nicole tightly, her voice low. "You're scaring her."

Oliver frowned.

He wanted to say more, but in the end, he swallowed his words, not wanting to argue in front of Nicole.

Just as he was trying to keep the peace, footsteps sounded from upstairs, and a young woman in her twenties stretched lazily.

"Cousin," she started to say, but then her eyes widened.

Electra looked at the woman downstairs, who was young, beautiful, and elegant, not someone she thought Oliver, with his reputation, deserved.

"Who is this?"

Electra clung to Oliver's neck, asking affectionately.

Nicole obediently called out, "Electra."

So this was Electra?

A few days ago, Sarah had heard about her from Sofia, but she hadn't expected to meet her like this. She felt awkward and a bit embarrassed.

She excused herself to the bathroom.

Under the bright crystal light, the golden faucet was running, and the water was splashing loudly.

Sarah scrubbed her face hard.

At the bathroom door, a tall figure appeared.

Their eyes met in the mirror. He was inscrutable, while she looked disheveled.

Oliver's tone was lightly mocking. "What's wrong… feeling uncomfortable? Angry?"

"No!"

Sarah's voice had a hint of a nasal tone, making her sound even more pitiful.

The window glass was awakened by the sound of rain.

Sarah lowered her eyes, her voice soft. "It's late. I should go. I'll come back to see her next time."

He grabbed her hand.

"Why are you in such a hurry to leave?"

"Is it because of Electra?"

Outside, the rain continued to fall.

Oliver held Sarah's hand, pulling her closer, his eyes full of determination.

He stared into her eyes. "It's been four years! No one waits forever, right? Don't you have someone else now?"

His words were probing, ultimately seeking an explanation from her.
