Chapter 264 I't Wasn't a Blessing But a Promise!

She even used the tip of her tongue to lightly lick Terrence's chin, like she was savoring his last moments. Under his horrified gaze, she whispered, "A traitor like you should've died long ago!"

She relished the final thrill.

Terrence's body slowly went limp, and with a thud, he collapsed onto the examination table, on the small bed where he'd had countless affairs with her, ending his life.

The woman didn't even flinch.

She calmly cleaned up the scene, wiping away all her fingerprints. Finally, she put on the white nurse's uniform she had worn when she arrived, pushed a small cart, and walked out of the examination room like nothing happened.

Half an hour later, Henry showed up at the hospital. He didn't tell anyone and went straight to the examination room.

The curtain was pulled back, and there was Terrence, lying naked, dead on his back, with a knife stuck in his chest.

Everyone was stunned.

The scene was just too shocking. While Neil and the others were frozen in place, Henry stepped forward. He stared at the plum blossom pattern on the knife handle, feeling like he'd seen it somewhere before.

Henry didn't touch anything. His voice was low and calm, "Call the cops right now! Also, get the Montague Group's PR team ready 24/7. This can't turn into a scandal for the Montague Group."

Late at night, Celeste came to handle everything.

After some investigation and checking the surveillance, the cop told Henry, "It's a homicide. All evidence shows the victim had a violent sexual encounter with the killer before death. The killer struck when the victim was most vulnerable and hated him deeply, using extremely cruel methods. Preliminary findings show the killer disguised herself as a nurse and blended into the building. She's got strong anti-detection skills, making this case tough to crack."

Henry nodded. Under the Montague Group's influence, the case was quietly suppressed.

After all this, Henry had Neil move in with him. At first, Neil didn't want to, afraid of being a bother, but Henry said, "If something happens to you, that would be troubling me."

That line left Neil thinking for a long time.

Sawyer said, "Mr. Montague really cares about you! Man, that Terrence was considered an elite, but he got brutally murdered. Just thinking about it is terrifying!"

Neil couldn't help but shiver.

By the time they got back to the villa, it was close to 3 AM, and the heavy rain had let up.

Neil was set up in a guest room on the first floor.

Sawyer also stayed over, still shaking. "First time seeing a murder case. My legs were shaking the whole drive back."

Neil thought about it and felt even more scared. He had a feeling that Terrence's death was somehow connected to him!

Henry didn't say much. He went upstairs, opened the master bedroom door.

As soon as he opened it, he smelled a feminine fragrance that inexplicably softened his serious vibe and calmed his inner anxiety.

Grace was still awake. Hearing the door, she got up and leaned against the headboard, quietly watching him.

The bedroom lights were off, with only the light from the living room spilling in, but she could still see his expression, dark and unreadable.

Grace thought it was something tricky about Abby and was about to ask.

Henry took off his coat and sat by the bed, cupping her face and leaning in for a passionate and lingering kiss.

Grace was breathless. She thought he wanted to make love, so she pressed against his shoulder and whispered, "Henry, stop. I'm on my period."

He stopped, resting his forehead against hers, his blue eyes staring at her, "If you weren't on your period, would you be willing to make love with me? You enjoyed it last time, didn't it? Grace, don't you have desires when you're with me? Don't you want to make love with me?"

Grace couldn't bring herself to say it. She stayed quiet, gently caressing his handsome face, feeling the heat of his skin, but his eyes showed little desire. She knew him well and sensed something was up.

When Henry kissed her again, she didn't resist.

Her long hair spread out on the white pillow, letting him do as he pleased. She knew Henry wouldn't go all the way.

Right now, he seemed more like he was venting his inner anxiety.

After a long time, Henry held her, his voice muffled, "Neil's medication was tampered with. It was done by Terrence from the hospital's neurosurgery department, but tonight he was killed in the examination room."

Grace's body trembled slightly. She looked down at Henry, who slowly moved closer, kissing her lightly while murmuring about what had happened tonight.

Grace held his neck, whispering, "What's your plan next?"

"Wait for the investigation." Henry felt a wave of frustration. The person he least wanted to suspect, the truth he least wanted to face, kept swirling in his mind, but he had no evidence.

He told Grace to sleep first, saying he would take a shower.

With such a big incident, Grace's blind date seemed insignificant.

She lay down, listening to the servants moving downstairs, unable to sleep. Later, Henry finished his shower but didn't go to bed immediately. Instead, he went to the living room to smoke.

Grace quietly walked to the door.

Henry noticed her, turned to look at her, and gently asked, "Can't sleep?"

Grace nodded.

Henry called her over. When she reached him, he pulled her into his arms, and they lay side by side on the large couch.

Henry hesitated for a moment, then shared his suspicions with Grace.

He had no evidence, but Grace was his wife, the closest person in the world to him. There was nothing they couldn't discuss.

Grace was surprised. "You suspect Riley?"

No wonder she was shocked. Riley was the Brown family's pride, talented and way more carefree than her sister Aurora. Suddenly suspecting her of getting involved with Neil and a married guy like Terrence, and even killing him on the spot, was just too hard to believe.

But Grace trusted Henry. If he suspected, he must have good reasons.

She looked at Henry, asking with concern, "Have you talked to your parents about this?"

Henry gently touched her face, then smiled bitterly. "I don't know how to say it! How can I tell my mother that the suffering and waiting she endured all these years might have been caused by her sister, just to get her man?"

Grace was silent.

Henry was silent for a while too.

He suddenly said, "Tomorrow morning, I'll contact Oliver and send you, Clara, and the kids to stay at Dawnstar for a while!"

He thought that with Oliver's current level of security, not even a fly could get in. Grace and the kids would be safe there.

Henry knew he himself was being overly cautious.

But he had been through too much. He didn't want to taste the pain of loss again. He didn't want to wait any longer. He wanted to live well with Grace and the kids.

Grace thought carefully and said, "I'll go back and discuss it with Clara."

She looked at Henry, hesitating.

Actually, she was worried about him, but she had always been reserved and hadn't expressed it. Those caring words were hard for her to say.

At this moment, silence spoke louder than words.

Henry understood Grace's thoughts. He held her tightly, saying nothing, just holding her close. He had never felt so close to her heart as he did now.

With the lights off, he leaned close to her ear and softly asked, "You still love me, don't you?"

Grace didn't answer. She just held his neck tightly, her voice very low, "You once told me to be happy every day. You said it wasn't a blessing but a promise."

Henry's eyes quietly moistened. A man like him rarely showed emotion.

He had once felt that life had shortchanged him, but now, he felt he had the whole world, and this world was given to him by Grace.

Henry's voice was hoarse, "I know."
