Chapter 440 Four Years Later, They Finally Meet in the Restaurant 2

When Sarah walked in, Oliver stood up.

Even though they had reunited before, this place was different. This was the spot they had promised to meet, to share a meal, and truly reunite. Only then would it feel complete.

She held Jacob's hand while Nicole sat beside Oliver. But at that moment, their eyes were only for each other, filled with the faint regret of four years apart.

After a long pause, Oliver softly said, "Hey, it's been a while."

His voice carried a slight nasal tone.

Sarah's lips moved slightly. Oliver didn't say anything else, just knelt down and gently hugged Jacob. He ruffled Jacob's hair tenderly, "You've grown so much, Jacob! Did you miss Daddy?"

Jacob, now seven, tall and slender with handsome features, leaned against Oliver and earnestly said, "Yeah!"

Oliver pinched his cheek and kissed him, then lifted him up just like when he was little and walked towards the dining table. Jacob felt a bit embarrassed.

Oliver placed the two kids together. Before Jacob could say anything, Nicole softly called out, "Jacob."

She was small and adorable. Jacob couldn't help but pat her little head and ruffle her hair.

Nicole scooted closer to him, her big, round eyes looking up at him. She knew how to ask for what she wanted: "I want some water."

Jacob usually didn't like it when little girls acted spoiled. It gave him a headache. But Nicole was his sister, and he loved her dearly. Instead of getting her water, he fed her small pieces of honeydew melon, watching her little mouth fill up and then swallow.

She was so cute! Jacob couldn't help but think.

Oliver felt a sense of pride. After years apart, Jacob had grown into the son he had always hoped for. He pulled out a chair for Sarah and said gently, "Let's sit and talk."

Sarah sat beside him. Nicole happily called out "Mommy" and then "Jacob." Sarah couldn't take her eyes off her little face. As she looked at Nicole, Oliver kept his gaze fixed on Sarah.

In the early summer, she wore a black embroidered dress with a pearl brooch pinned to her chest. Elegant and unique! Oliver watched her quietly, remembering when they first met. She was 22 then, fresh and youthful, but now Sarah had a woman's charm that he couldn't take his eyes off.

Sarah glanced up and met his gaze. Oliver said softly, "Your dress is beautiful."

The atmosphere was delicate. Thankfully, the waiter came to serve the dishes. Oliver picked up his glass of aperitif, took a sip, and said softly, "I remembered all the dishes you and Jacob love."

Sarah thanked him quietly, and he handed her a glass of an aperitif. Oliver's blue eyes deepened, "To celebrate our family reunion."

The words felt strange, but Sarah didn't think much. It was after she had drunk half the glass that she remembered she had driven there. She held the glass, momentarily stunned.

Oliver smiled, "I'll drive you home after dinner."

Waiters came and went, filling the table with a variety of dishes. Jacob and Nicole ate happily. Oliver, in his forties but still striking, held his wine glass and looked deeply at Sarah, "Jacob really likes Nicole. Wouldn't it be great if they lived together?"

Sarah's heart skipped a beat.

Oliver's deep eyes stayed on her, then he suddenly changed the subject, "So, you didn't take Electra because of personal feelings? You don't like her?"

Sarah took a sip of her aperitif, trying to cover her emotions. "No, it's just that the gallery isn't heading in that direction."

Oliver let it go. He leaned back in his chair, slowly drinking his wine. After a while, he pushed a dessert towards Sarah, his gaze intense, "Have something sweet to balance it out."

He was so gentle, and his looks were so captivating that no woman could resist his charm, especially when he was trying to seduce her!

Sarah wasn't oblivious. She lowered her eyes, thinking for a moment, then spoke softly and seriously, "Oliver, I admit I had feelings for you four years ago. I thought about getting back together, starting over. But those feelings are nothing compared to our past, and we've been apart for four years."

She gently refused, "Let's not dwell on the past, okay?"

Oliver's blue eyes deepened. He asked her calmly, "Because of that guy, or because of Electra? How about this? We both break up and remarry, giving Jacob and Nicole a complete family."

Sarah had been married to him for a few years and had known him for over seven. She was starting to see him in a new light. How shameless!

Oliver looked nonchalant, "What, you can't let go of that guy? What kind of man is he, that you can't get over him?"

He finally couldn't hide his jealousy. Even Jacob couldn't help but say, "Daddy's jealous!"

The atmosphere became very delicate. Unexpectedly, Oliver admitted openly, "Jacob's right, I am jealous."

Jacob smiled shyly. His smile, shy and gentle, was very much like Sarah's. Oliver couldn't help but ruffle his hair.

He looked at Sarah again, shamelessly, "I'll break up with her tomorrow. What do you say?"

"Ridiculous!"

Sarah admitted she felt a twinge of emotion, but she couldn't help thinking of Electra, who freely came and went from his villa. They must have been together for a long time. Her expression turned cold.

Oliver chuckled softly, even leaning close to her ear to whisper, "She's not as beautiful as you, not as cute as you."

Sarah was about to lose her temper, but he started serving her food, introducing the restaurant's specialties, making it hard for her to stay angry. His attentiveness made the evening feel romantic.

After dinner, Oliver checked the time. "I didn't bring a driver. It's still early. Let's take a walk to your place. It'll help with digestion."

Sarah felt it was inappropriate, but Nicole reached out for a hug. "I want to sleep with Mommy."

Sarah looked at Oliver. Oliver playfully patted Nicole's little bottom. "Then where will Daddy sleep?"

Nicole clung to his neck, her voice soft and pleading, "Daddy can sleep with Mommy too! I want to sleep between you two. I'll sleep in Mommy's arms for the first half of the night, and in Daddy's arms for the second half."

Oliver chuckled. He held Nicole and took Jacob's hand, walking into the city's neon lights.

Sarah stood at the restaurant door. She watched their backs, her eyes growing warm. She had once dreamed of such a warm scene, but they had drifted apart.

Oliver suddenly turned around, standing under the city's neon lights, looking at Sarah, and said softly and gently, "Sarah, let's go home."
