Chapter 265 The Woman Who Harmed Neil Emerges
Even though they hit the sack late, everyone was up at the crack of dawn.
Breakfast was awkwardly quiet.
Henry grabbed a quick bite, then stood by the big window and lit up a cigarette. The morning light hit him just right, making his features pop, and his neatly trimmed hair shimmered.
Henry, over 35 with faint wrinkles around his eyes that added a touch of mature charm, caught Grace's attention. As she stole a few glances at him, he suddenly turned and gazed at her quietly. A pang shot through Grace's heart, but as if he could read her thoughts, Henry gave a slight smile.
Neil felt awkward and looked away.
The tension was thick when the sound of a car came from the courtyard. A moment later, the servant brought in Aurora. She looked pissed, probably because of what happened with Abby.
Aurora didn't expect to see Grace there. She was stunned and took a moment to speak, "Grace is here too!"
Grace just gave a faint smile because she still couldn't forgive Aurora. She stood up and said to Henry, "I'm going upstairs to change and then I'm heading out."
Henry had something to discuss, so he asked the driver to take Grace, but he still walked her out when she left.
As Grace got into the car, Henry gently grabbed her wrist and said softly, "This Saturday, there's an event at Taylor's school that needs both parents. Don't forget."
Grace was surprised. "When did this come up? I had no idea."
Henry snorted, "You've been busy with your blind dates, of course, you don't care about the kids' stuff."
Grace couldn't help but call his name, "Henry!"
Henry held her wrist, gently rubbing it, with a hint of tenderness. He lowered his voice and said, "If it wasn't important, I wouldn't let you go."
His gaze was intense, full of desire.
Grace stayed calm. She gently pulled away and said, "Let me know if there's any update. Henry, just be careful, okay?"
She was gentle and soft, and Henry couldn't help but be moved. He lightly pinched her cheek before urging her into the car.
The black car slowly drove out of the villa.
Henry took out his phone and dialed a number. When the call was answered, he said calmly, "Riley, can we meet?"
Riley smiled. "Henry, what made you think of me today? Unfortunately, I'm in Frostgate right now. I won't be back in Evergreen City until next week."
Henry's face was blank. "Is it a trip?"
"Sort of, I'm visiting an old friend," Riley said, then laughed. She even asked lightly, "Henry, since when did you care so much about me? By the way, how are things with Grace? Women need to be coaxed, Henry, be patient."
Henry held the phone, his expression dark. "I know, thanks for your concern, Riley!" Then he hung up.
Back in the villa's hall, Neil and Aurora were arguing.
Aurora, who didn't pay much attention to outside matters, was completely unaware of the murder at the hospital last night. She came early in the morning to confront Neil about Abby's scandal.
Aurora had always been proud, and with anger boiling inside her, she spat out whatever hurtful words came to mind. "Neil, I think you go to work just to hook up with women! That Abby must be in her thirties, right? I heard she's dated countless men. You even fancy such a woman? You're really not picky, Neil!"
Neil was shaking with anger.
He pointed at Aurora, shouting back, "Aurora, stop slandering me! I have nothing to do with her! Do you really think I'm just some shallow guy who flirts with every woman I see?"
Aurora sneered, "In my eyes, you're not even a man!"
Neil didn't want to argue with her.
They had been at each other's throats for over ten years, to the point of exhaustion and separation. Now that they finally had some peace, she still wouldn't let it go.
But Aurora wouldn't back down, and her words got nastier.
Neil was pushed to his limit. "All these years, you haven't changed a bit. Still so aggressive!"
Aurora was about to retort when the sound of footsteps echoed from the entrance—the crisp sound of small leather shoes on marble. It was Henry returning.
Neil and Aurora both fell silent.
Henry walked in slowly, quietly looking at them. He paused and asked, "Why did you stop arguing? Weren't you going at it pretty loudly just now? Keep going."
Henry went upstairs to change clothes, and Neil and Aurora blamed each other.
Aurora sneered, "Neil, you're mentally unhealthy, that's why you went after Abby."
Neil was anxious. "She's in custody now! If you don't believe me, check for yourself."
Aurora was stunned, and then she couldn't help but feel a bit guilty.
At 9 AM, Henry walked into the CEO's office.
Celeste was there to report the work to him.
Henry raised his hand to signal her to stop and said softly, "Find a detective, I want to investigate someone."
Celeste guessed it was related to last night's incident and asked who it was.
Henry leaned back in the leather chair, shielding his eyes from the light with his hand, and said calmly, "Riley, my aunt. Check her whereabouts over the past week. I need one hundred percent certainty."
Celeste was shocked.
Henry suspected Riley of killing Terrence, which was hard for her to believe. Riley came from a prestigious family and had married a well-known artist Bryan Bennett in Frostgate. They were a loving couple, and even though her husband passed away in the fourth year of their marriage, she couldn't possibly have been involved with someone like Terrence, as their statuses were vastly different.
Celeste lowered her voice. "Mr. Windsor, are you sure?"
Henry sat up a bit, quietly looking at Celeste, and said softly, "Keep this under wraps and don't tell anyone. I need all the information by this morning."
Celeste nodded in agreement.
She was loyal to Henry and capable. Within two hours, she came in with the detective's report.
Henry flipped through the pages. Riley had flown to Frostgate two days ago, with records and photos of her at the airport, in a taxi, and at the hotel. The photos were indeed of Riley herself.
Henry looked through them many times. Finally, he leaned back slightly, his pale Adam's apple moving continuously. The killer wasn't Riley!
The most suspicious person had an alibi, which meant Terrence's death became a mystery. So, who was the woman who had a relationship with Terrence that night and then brutally killed him?
No! He must have missed something!
