Chapter 240 Are You Still Upset?

Henry's blue eyes were kinda misty. Celeste, who'd just heard the morning's gossip from the servants downstairs, jumped in, "Now that the air's cleared, Mr. Montague, you gotta win Grace back!"

Henry stayed quiet. He pulled out a thin diamond necklace from his pocket, his eyes all emotional as he gently touched it. How could he go get her back now?

Given his current state, even if they patched things up for a bit, they'd just end up fighting again. Plus, Grace had said she wasn't coming back when she left. And he still let her go.

As Celeste got more anxious, Henry finally spoke softly, "Set up a meeting with Owen. I need to thank him in person."

Celeste, feeling lost, had no choice but to arrange the meet-up with Owen.

Henry met Owen at 3 PM, same place as always.

Owen brought his girlfriend along. The young girl, sticking to Owen like glue, was busy playing games on her phone.

Henry recognized her as the only daughter of some rich businessman, super young, just in her early twenties.

Henry didn't pay her any mind, nor did he touch the food in front of him. Sitting all formal in the fancy restaurant, he thanked Owen, "The data's been sent to the lab. They said it's super valuable. Owen, thank you."

Earlier, Celeste had mentioned that Henry had driven Grace away. Owen was ticked off, but he kept it in, partly for Grace's sake and partly 'cause it wasn't cool to criticize Henry given his current state.

Owen gave the girl a gentle tap and asked her to go play elsewhere. She quickly obeyed his request.

Once she left, Owen took a sip of his wine and finally spoke, "Henry, you don't need to thank me 'cause I did all this for Grace! She loves you like crazy. If she didn't, I wouldn't have let go! Nothing happened between us; it was doomed from the start."

Owen felt a bit lost. He thought that if Grace hadn't come back to Evergreen City at the start of the year and hadn't met Henry, they might've had a different story. But he knew some things are just meant to be.

After speaking, Owen stood up.

With his back to Henry, he said in a low voice, "She let go of all her pride to love you! Henry, do you know I loved her before you did? I liked her when she was just a child. Back then, Grace was so lively and radiant, but her eyes were only for you!"

Owen continued, "If you don't love her, don't mess with her! She's a good girl; she deserves a happy life."

In the fancy restaurant, only Henry sat quietly.

He sat for a long time, until all the dishes had gone cold, and the restaurant manager personally came over, respectfully asking, "Mr. Montague, would you like to order more dishes?"

"No need!" Henry looked at the food in front of him, expressionless, and said, "Check, please."

He was in a bad mood. After getting in the car, Sawyer tried to cheer him up, but out of ten sentences, Henry only responded to one. Finally, Sawyer scratched his head and fell silent.

Henry pressed a button to lower half of the car window.

In the evening, the sky was filled with floating red clouds.

He vaguely remembered that this was the time Taylor got out of school. She wouldn't be returning to the villa today; would she ask why? Taylor was always super curious. And Avery, who clung to him every night, would he feel uncomfortable?

Henry's Adam's apple moved, and he said softly, "Go to Mrs. Montague's place!"

Sawyer immediately turned the steering wheel and headed towards Grace's villa, saying, "It's just the right time for dinner. You can have a meal there. Clara's cooking suits your taste the best."

"Too much yappin'!" Henry rolled up the window and leaned back against the leather seat, mulling over what to say when they met. Even though they'd only been apart for less than 10 hours, it felt like forever to him.

The shiny black limo slowly cruised into the villa.

The car door opened, and it was already dusk outside. Just like Sawyer said, it was dinner time, and the mouth-watering aroma of food wafted from the villa's kitchen.

On the lush lawn, Taylor was playing with a small ball with Avery.

Henry's car pulled in, making Taylor super happy. She shouted, "Daddy!"

Taylor ran a few steps, then remembered Avery, turned back to pick him up, and ran towards Henry.

The two little ones clung to Henry, one hugging his arm and the other his leg, all affectionate. Taylor even ran to the car to see if Sherry had come along.

Henry smiled slightly, "I came on short notice, so I didn't bring her!"

Taylor was still over the moon. She ran back, hugged Henry's arm, and whispered, "Avery missed you a lot. He even cried!"

Henry looked at Avery.

Avery, usually so proud, buried his face, refusing to let Henry see.

Henry patted his little head and said gently, "I'll come to see you often, or you can come over for a stay."

Taylor, with an innocent face, asked, "What about Mommy?"

Henry's voice choked a bit as he replied, "Mommy is busy with work. When she's not busy, she'll come over too."

At that moment, Grace came out of the house.

She stood on the steps, with the outdoor wall lamp behind her, the soft orange light making her silhouette even more gentle. A simple long dress highlighted her feminine charm.

Their eyes met, and they gazed at each other.

Henry's expression softened. He saw her red-rimmed eyes, knowing she had been crying, and couldn't help but ask, "Are you still sad?"

Grace didn't look at him much. She walked down the steps, gently patted Taylor's head, and said softly, "Take Avery inside to wash up and get ready for dinner."

Taylor looked at Henry expectantly.

Grace smiled faintly. "Daddy will join us."

Taylor was relieved and happily led Avery back into the house.

Grace watched them until they entered the villa's hall, then turned to Henry, her tone indifferent. "It's all over, so why say such things? Henry, I'm past the age where I listen to everything you say."

She said nothing more, pushing his wheelchair into the house.

Henry grabbed her hand, urgently calling out, "Grace!"

Grace didn't respond. She just treated him as the children's father, as an important guest. She took care of his meal and his dignity.

Even Clara didn't show him any attitude.

Everything was good, very warm.

Everything was the same, yet everything was different. Grace treated him as well as ever, but the intimacy was gone. The way she looked at him was no longer the way a woman looked at a man.

After dinner, he accompanied Avery.

Grace, on the wooden floor by the French windows, taught Taylor to play the violin. Perhaps because Henry was there, Taylor learned very seriously, and she played a piece quite well.

Grace gently encouraged Taylor.

Standing under the crystal chandelier, Grace's long dress accentuated her delicate figure, her golden hair lightly tied up, revealing a fair neck.

In his memory, she was always gentle and beautiful. Despite the trials of her career, there was no trace of sharpness in her.

Henry watched, lost in thought.

Grace accidentally met his gaze. His blue eyes were deep, but she calmly looked away.
