Chapter 90 I Would Be Overjoyed to Get Engaged
Henry really got people. Plus, after years with Grace, he knew exactly what she liked.
He didn't mind making women happy.
Grace, pushed to her limits by him, had a delicate beauty in her desire. But that night, he had to think about her feelings, so he couldn't fully enjoy it.
Right now, Grace was almost trembling in Henry's arms.
Henry knew Grace was torn, caught between loving him and not. She wanted to set boundaries but couldn't resist his tenderness. With the Windsor family in decline, her vulnerability gave him a chance to take care of her.
Henry pulled her closer, one arm around her shoulder, the other gently petting the puppy. His voice was softer than ever, "Do you still want me to please you like that? Was it that good?"
Grace turned her face away.
She had loved him for six years. How could she resist his deliberate charm?
As her face grew hot, Henry placed the barking puppy back in her arms. He looked into her eyes while gently caressing her, his voice very low, "Sherry, Mommy is shy."
In that moment, Grace's heart quietly crumbled.
Seeing her curl up to avoid his touch, Henry chuckled softly and stopped.
He straightened up, lightly pressed the gas pedal, and on the way to the hospital, he talked to her about Juniper and Frank. He told her straight up that Juniper and Frank were a no-go.
The car stopped in front of the hospital.
Henry turned to her and said calmly, "Frank won't choose Juniper when it comes to big interests. Grace, I can help you find Juniper, but I can't fix their relationship."
Grace nodded, saying she understood.
She grabbed the car door handle, wanting to get out, but he caught her hand. He looked at her quietly for a long time and suddenly asked softly, "Have you missed me these past two days?"
Grace's fingers curled slightly as she said, "No."
Henry smiled a bit, then turned and took a gift box from the back seat, "These are heart-protecting pills I got from the trade fair; they're not on the market yet. They're perfect for your dad."
Grace took it and said a low "thank you."
Henry gently touched her face, "Go on up! I have to head to the company, say hi to your dad for me."
Grace hurriedly left, somewhat avoiding him as she walked away.
Henry watched her walk away. After a while, he placed Sherry in the passenger seat and gently pressed the gas pedal.
In the hospital room, Grace was clearly distracted.
Clara took the apple from her hand and gently scolded, "Be careful not to cut yourself."
Grace forced a smile.
Clara glanced at the sleeping Nathan and lowered her voice, "I saw Henry when you arrived. He brought you here, didn't he? How are things between you two now?"
Grace didn't hide it. "He's helping me find Juniper."
Mentioning Juniper, Clara felt a bit sorry. She asked Grace to help Juniper as much as possible since Juniper was in a tough spot.
Grace nodded in agreement.
Clara got to the point, "This afternoon, two caregivers came by, arranged by Henry. They said they'd be live-in caregivers when your dad is discharged. I didn't want to decide on my own; you need to. Are you thinking about getting back with Henry? He's been very attentive and respectful lately."
Grace, as a woman, could feel Henry's change.
For instance, that night, if it were before, she wouldn't have had the strength to resist in that intimate scenario. He would have indulged himself completely.
But that night, he held back, didn't really touch her, just whispered sweet things in her ear. Which woman wouldn't fall for such tenderness?
Grace was preoccupied with Juniper and didn't have much time to think about her and Henry. She had been looking for Juniper, even flying to Pariz.
She fantasized that Juniper was actually shopping in Pariz.
She imagined that when she was at her wit's end, Juniper was carefree and unaware, and when they met, Juniper would casually say, "It's just a guy! Grace, why be so old-fashioned?"
But those were just fantasies.
On the day of Frank's engagement, there was news of Juniper.
Grace got a call from Henry, his voice slightly hoarse and tired, "Grace, Juniper has been found! She's in the hospital now!"
Grace was anxious, "What happened to her? Henry, tell me where she is, I'll go see her."
But Henry was firm. His voice was even stern, "Stay at home, don't move, I'll come get you."
Grace hung up, her hand trembling uncontrollably. She remembered the dream where Juniper, covered in blood, said to her, "I'm sorry, Grace, this time I'm really leaving."
In less than ten minutes, Henry arrived. He must have come straight from Frank's engagement party, looking sharp in a white pleated shirt and a black custom-made suit.
On the way to the hospital, Grace clenched her hands tightly. She didn't ask Henry about the situation.
The hospital corridor seemed endless. Grace could vaguely hear Juniper's cries, distorted and pained, familiar yet strange. She quickened her pace.
When she pushed the door open, Henry stood behind her, his voice very low, "Thalia's people deafened her right ear. We found her in an abandoned warehouse."
Grace's eyes filled with tears, her hand on the doorknob trembling uncontrollably.
After a long moment, she finally pushed the door open and went in.
Frank had arrived before her, and Thalia was also in the room.
Juniper sat on the hospital bed, so thin she was unrecognizable. She didn't look at Frank and Thalia, nor did she listen to what they were saying, because she couldn't hear. She was like a walking corpse. It wasn't until Grace came in that there was a glimmer of light in her eyes.
Grace gently hugged Juniper, her lips trembling as she apologized, saying she was late.
Juniper burst into tears, her crying sounded strange, completely unlike a normal person's cry.
Frank murmured, "Doesn't she still have her left ear? Why can't she hear?"
Grace held Juniper. She closed her eyes and said, "Frank, Juniper lost the hearing in her left ear permanently when she was 15. All these years, she could only hear with her right ear! Now, you and your fiancée have taken away her right ear too. I told you she was just an orphan, she had no power to take anything away. In front of the Green family and the Cavendish family, she really is nothing! Why did you mess with her feelings and still hurt her body?"
Frank was trembling all over.
He looked at Juniper, at her emaciated body. He vaguely remembered that not long ago, she was still lying under him so vibrantly, saying flirtatiously that she would find another man to sleep with. When he tormented her, he liked to whisper sweet nothings in her left ear, and she always looked confused. It turned out, she couldn't hear.
The last time they made love, he whispered in Juniper's left ear, "If it were you, I would be overjoyed to get engaged; I would do it ten times a night!"
Juniper was still confused, still looked at him innocently. That was the closest he came to expressing his feelings, and she didn't hear it.
From now on, Juniper would never hear again!
Frank's eyes were bloodshot. His fiancée Thalia calmly wrote a check for $3 million and said to Juniper on the bed, "Three million dollars for your ear, that should be enough!"
Frank grabbed Thalia's wrist.
Thalia was wearing an expensive evening dress, a high-end custom piece from a luxury brand; Frank dragged her to the hospital restroom, the one used by the caregivers, with grime around the sink.
Frank had sex with Thalia there, not even closing the door.
Frank treated her like the cheapest woman, using her, saying harsh and humiliating words to Thalia, "Isn't it because I didn't touch you? So you hurt her? Now, as you wished, we'll be entangled for life. I won't break off the engagement; we'll be a 'loving couple'!"
Frank even humiliated Thalia, "Like a dead fish! No one would want to sleep with you, not even for the lowest fee!"
Thalia slapped Frank. "Frank, you're crazy! Are you treating me like this for that despicable Juniper!"
Frank sneered. "Who's despicable, huh? Why shouldn't I mess with you like that? You eagerly want the man she doesn't want; you cheap woman!"
Thalia's eyes were filled with tears.
Frank touched her face, "Regret it now? Too late! You've pissed me off!" After saying that, he zipped up his pants and left without looking back.
That night, Frank called several minor celebrities at the most famous club in Evergreen City.
Thalia dragged her broken body back to the Green family.
Thalia's father, Kieran Green, slapped her so hard her ears rang. Kieran scolded her, "How can you be so stupid? Do you know how much the Green family and the Cavendish family have invested this time? For an unrelated woman, you pushed Frank to this point. How will you two live in the future?"
Kieran threw a stack of scandalous photos, "Look, this is his response to you! Do you really think marriages in families like ours can produce true love? Do you think any man will be faithful to you? You're so stupid!"
Thalia looked at the photos, her lips trembling, "He did it for that woman."
Kieran sneered, "You didn't hurt his lover; you challenged his male authority. That's what Frank can't stand. You've awakened a hungry wolf. When Frank takes control of the Cavendish family, the first one he'll want revenge on is the Green family."
Thalia was completely stunned.
